Getting ready to start working on DS's video slideshow. I've pulled about 30-40 pictures per year from birth to now (I won't use all of them, I'm going to have to narrow more). Trying to decide how to organize it. Should I: -put the pictures in by age/year -put them in by event (ex. first day of school, Christmas morning, vacation, birthday, etc.) -mix them all up
I know I'm overthinking this - just want to do it right the first time so I don't have to redo!!

Personally I would put them in chronological order so someone watching it could make sense of it without any explanation.

I'd do either chronological or all mixed up. IME, the slide show is usually a background thing that loops through continuously not something that people sit and watch.

I would just mix the all up - spend your time on other things that people will actually pay attention to.

I totally cheated! I took my phone out and snapped pictures of pictures. Put them on a memory card. Then threw into the WIi. Picked the transition and the music. Done! It played a nice slide show and rotated. I even did it the night before. Just opened albums and went to town taking pictures! I did it for 2 of 3 kids. Next year, I will do it again for the last one,

Next year, I will do it again for the last one, There are apps that do this as well, letting you adjust the photos so that they are square on and not wonky. It's a great idea for many of us who have printed and digital photos. OP, I organized chronologically. I used the option in Photos and chose chronological vs random. One click and done. But you need to have the correct date for the actual photos. I scanned about 6 years for DS and 4 years for DD and then went back and changed the date on each photo in Photos itself. Luckily I had them all organized and labeled!

I did one for each of my 2 sons. I followed the theme of the music I put the slide show to.
Son #1 - I used the song Baz Luhrmann - 'Everybody's Free to Wear Sunscreen". It was a nice mix of funny and sentimental pictures from a mixed up chronology of his youth.
Son# 2 - Justin Bieber 'Purpose' - this one was a lot more emotional. I also mixed in excerpts of popular commencement speeches (Jim Carey, Steve Jobs,)
Both ended with pictures taken from their commencement ceremony.
Both of them were very heart felt gifts to my sons that really expressed how proud I am of them.

My son's senior class was three students including him. The school secretary made the slideshows for all three boys. I submitted the pictures to her and she made the slideshow. If I remember right, it was organized mostly chronologically and then it was a mix of pics taken at school events over the three years he attended at the end of the slideshow.

I do a lot of these for my family. I would start with one or a few from now - like if you have one in graduation garb or something, and then go back to the first day of school and etc. and then end with now again. And don't forget to do something written at the end, rather than just ending with photos. (I have made that mistake.)
