Actually it's turkey jerky. From Costco. The yummy not-too-chewy turkey jerky. I KNOW I bought some last time I was at Costco because I finished off the last bag a few days earlier. So where is it? Seriously, this is the sort of mystery that makes me crazy. In the winter I often leave groceries in the back of the van if they're not perishable, mostly because I get tired of hauling stuff in. I went out and looked in the van. Nope, no jerky. I looked in the basement laundry room where we keep the large Costco TP, paper towels, etc., plus canned goods. Nope, no jerky. I've looked in the kitchen in the obvious places and anyway our kitchen is TINY. SO WHERE IS MY TURKEY JERKY? ? ![](http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r481/2peasrefugees/Smilies/confused.jpg.gif) If my son were home I might accuse him but he is innocent since he's several states away at school. Dd hates jerky. Dh might eat some once it's opened but he wouldn't eat the whole thing and not tell me, especially when I'm ripping the house apart looking. I did bag up a bunch of stuff for a charity pickup a few days ago.... so I'm wondering if it somehow got in one of those bags..? Can't imagine how but who knows. If so it will make a nice surprise for some warehouse workers as they sort my stuff. If not, THEN WHERE IS MY JERKY? Any idea? Tell me where you ended up finding something you'd lost...it might give me some ideas. ![](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/6rWG0raILw0cPn9nkyrl.jpg) UPDATE: I FOUND IT!! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) Extra points to those of you who suggested looking again in the van. (although everyone else's ideas were good too). It was in a reusable Trader Joe's shopping bag half shoved under the middle seat. Normally when I bring home Costco stuff I use boxes from the huge bins that are near the registers.... the flat ones that you pile stuff in. So there's no way for anything to hide in there. But as soon as I saw that TJ's bag under the seat I remembered! lol. I had quite a few trash bags and boxes full of stuff to donate to a charity that picked up last week. I often keep the donations in the back of the van just to get them out of the house. So I put the Costco stuff on top of all that. When I went to haul it into the house I did my usual thing of sorting and brining in only perishable things or stuff I'd need right away. I left the jerky plus some spices and some socks in one box on top of the charity stuff, in plain view. Then this past Wednesday evening -- charity pickup scheduled for Thursday morning -- I went out there to get the charity stuff out. I put the jerky, spices, and socks into the TJ's bag and shoved it under the middle row so I could get out the donations. When I looked for the jerky in the van yesterday my eyes just went right over the TJ's bag because first of all I never put Costco stuff in those, and second I have so many reusable bags floating around the van that my eyes just didn't see it. Sheesh. So, mystery solved. Now, let's concentrate on pierkiss and her peanut butter.

Seriously, how the hell does one lose a giant jar of Jif? đ«

It's in the pantry, right beside a "like packaged" item. Sometimes I think something is in a package that is blue and white, but in reality it is in a purple and white package. I force myself to look at each package individually and I often find it.

When it stops snowing/raining/whatever-it's-doing-out-there (ugh) I'll go back and look in the van with that in mind. And downstairs.

I wondered that about my jerky except that it was Costco and my Costco always puts stuff straight from the cash register into the cart. But at a regular grocery store there are more chances to leave something in a bag.

I think in this case she's innocent because if Miss Sensitive Stomach had eaten an entire package of jerky I would have see the results around the house.

It's a black hole. I have one just past my entry and close to the kitchen. It has sucked up one of my favorite diamond earrings, my property tax payment, a watch, my favorite pair of comfortable ugly around the house pants and a lot of other things, all never to be seen again. They just disappear as I move through that space.

But now itâs just gone. No clue.

Look at your receipt and see that you actually bought it. Iâm guilty of getting distracted by something nearby and then not picking up the item I actually need.

Call Costco, give them your account number and ask them to check your last purchases to see if you really did buy some. If it were me I would swear I did but come to find out I didn't! Senioritis.

Check underneath your car seats. I've had that happen before to where my bag has tipped over and something slid out, onto the floor, and under the seat. Thank goodness it wasn't a refrigerator item or something in glass that might have cracked and spilled out (I'm thinking of a giant jar of mayo. ewww) Who checks under the car seats when unpacking the groceries? Not me. But that's where I found the bag of pecans when I went to use it and it wasn't where it should have been.

I currently have the opposite problem. I went to the grocery store tonight and came home with a jar of Miracle Whip with Olive oil that I did not want. I could have sworn that I put the jar back on the shelf after I looked at it and decided I did not want it. But I came home and unpacked the groceries and there it was. Ugh. I blame my DH who went to the store with me. He was throwing things in the cart and maddeningly distracting me the entire trip. I really should take it back, but it is cold, snowy and late and Iâm just too lazy to bother. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/OrTI4SBmZ2ZYSFv6ag4f.jpg)

Not me. But that's where I found the bag of pecans when I went to use it and it wasn't where it should have been. This happened to our neighbors with a package of cheeseâwhen it was about 95° outside and they had to park outside of their garage for a week. By the time they found it it was ![](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/c2qi57qoGpXKdFvBtXdt.jpg) . My guess is it never made it into the car. A few weeks ago when I got home from Target, I was unpacking my bags and found a bottle of some kind of makeup remover that wasnât mine. (I donât even wear makeup.) I rummaged around in my purse to find the receipt, annoyed because I thought Iâd have to go back and get a refund only it wasnât on the receipt. It had to have been in the bag from the person ahead of me and the cashier didnât realize it when she put my stuff in the bag with it. Since it wasnât mine and I didnât pay for it, I brought it back a couple weeks later. The lady at the customer service desk was a little surprised when I gave it back and said, âWow, that restores my faith in humanity!â

I had a roll of ground beef roll under the seat. Thank goodness it was sealed up tight. That could stunk for weeks.

Do you use green bags? (the re-usable ones) Maybe it could be at the bottom of one.
We noticed a very bad smell in our pantry once - thought it was a bad potato. Turned out to be a pack of beef mince left in the bag when we put groceries away. We threw the entire bag out!

LOL, glad you found it quickly. At Thanksgiving, I swore I had bought a container of bean dip (the kind with mayo and horseradish they serve in restaurants.) Couldn't find it. A few weeks later, DS kept saying my car smelled funny. Sure enough, it had rolled under the front seat. Unfortunately, when I picked it up, I dropped it upside down and the top fell off. That took some serious carpet cleaning to get rid of. Yuck!

I don't usually like beef jerky because it's too tough and chewy. But this turkey jerky is much softer and more tender, and it's not too spicy. It has a little bit of a spice aftertaste but not much at all. -- Also it says on the bag to eat within three days after opening but that's not necessary. I've kept it much longer than that in the fridge.
