We once had an employee who got a pair of teeth from somewhere...and they didn’t fit right, so he brought them to our shop and tried to use a grinder on them to make them fit. He would grind on them, slip them into his mouth, take them out and grind some more... there was no rinsing involved, and we never knew where he got the teeth.
He lost all of his own teeth from drugs, mostly meth.
It’s a classic story at our company....

Looks like there is a spare pair in the background, too.

When we set up houses for estate auctions, we often run into old dentures, piles of baby teeth, and old retainers stashed in drawers and closets. Along with a whole bunch of other "weird" stuff... but that's probably another thread!

Dentures CAN be ground and a refit kit applied so that they fit another mouth, but you have to know what you're doing. They still have to pretty much fit the mouth to be able to be reworked. Yes, there is a market for them - just like old glasses. That said, there's a stranger market for them that I know of - there's an art car that's covered in teeth and dentures.

Omg. Literally a couple miles down the road from our lake house. Really doesn’t surprise me 😂

Wow, that's unusual. I happened to see a silicone mold on ebay for upper and lower teeth just this afternoon and I thought that was rather weird. They are nothing compared to someone selling real dentures. And truthfully, I didn't know they could be refitted for someone else to use. I would imagine they are really expensive, so I guess this could be the answer to someone's prayers, right? The ones I saw this morning would be great for Halloween pranks. Here is a cookie with teeth that they show as an example for use. I thought they were really odd until I saw a couple of uses for them and thought they would be fun to use to freak someone out or to put in your carved pumpkin. I think this cookie is really cute in that weird sort of way. Ebay teeth mold

So is there a resale market for those items? Or do you just trash them? Those get trashed. But you would be surprised at what people WILL buy.

You have always been a part of the heist. You're only mad now because you don't like your cut.

I swear one time DH and I were waiting for the subway and there was a full set of dentures on the tracks. I remind him of those teeth everytime he calls and mentions that my mother in law misplaced hers yet again.

We thought it was strange. Weird that it happens a lot!

That is hilarious. My first job in high school was a nurse’s aid at a nursing home, and we would joke that someone was stealing dentures. We know a dentist who saved gold fillings from his patients and had them melted down and made into a ring.

Well now I won't be able to see my dentist without wondering if that ring he has on is fillings or not!

I was in East Texas this past Saturday to visit one of my mother in laws (I have 2!!) & she is missing her teeth & glasses! She lives in an assisted living home & I wondered if someone had stolen them.
Now I'm thinking there is a market for those used teeth & they probably were stolen!! How sad & disgusting.
