I read an article online and now I can't find it (don't you just hate that?) It was about other good winter practices, not just hygge, and one of them was a word for a Norwegian (I think) thing of basically making the most of any sunshine and sitting outside in a warm spot whenever possible.
I can't find the article and I cant remember what the word was. Does anyone know what I might be thinking of?

That just means "being outdoors", so can't be that one.

No, "koselig" and "hyggelig" are synonyms.

"Slikke sol" is the only one I can think of.

And "hygge" doesn't quite have the meaning the English speaking world thinks. It mostly means "having a good time together with others". It can also be used to describe atmosphere.

We call that spot of sun solveggen - the wall with the sun. It’ the holy grail. I swear we’re like a bunch of iguanas, spreading our limbs in any spot of sun we can find😂

I swear we’re like a bunch of iguanas, spreading our limbs in any spot of sun we can find😂 In northern Alberta we call it soaking up vitamin D....so we don't go bat shit crazy! Or getting your dose of vitamin D. I will sit on my kitchen counter in the winter and just play on my phone and drink my morning tea just to enjoy the bit of sun that shines in the house. Finally by mid-February the late afternoon sun peaks around for a bit to land on my west facing bedroom and I'll go in there and sit for a few minutes and enjoy it, even the cat does. Even if it's 40 below and I'm out shoveling and need a break and it's sunny I turn my face to the sun for my break.

By the way, I found This article explaining a few Norwegianisms Thanks for sharing - I love language and different cultural traditions. The year the mountains were so steep made me chuckle. I know many that rearrange their day during long winter months in northern Canada to take advantage of the short daylight hours. My sister normally worked out in the evening, but during the winter started skiing every day at lunch just to be out in the sun when she lived in Whitehorse.

And that article might even be the same one I found, I remembered the picture of people sitting in the snow/sun too. THANK YOU! I am not going mad

Is there a Norwegianism for "went to the winter olympics and kicked butt"? Because there should be!
Also curious if the Norwegian curling team's fashions were especially for the games or are such loudly patterned pants the norm 🤔?
