I'm condensing two threads into one.
Is it even possible to extreme coupon anymore? Once that show aired the stores and laws really changed in order to crack down on extreme couponers.
Also, is anyone playing Monopoly at their grocery store? It's worth it to me just for the coupons that you accumulate as you go. I do it for that. Last year I did win $5. Whoopee. However, I'm not expecting that, again. I'm happy w/my free tomato sauce coupon.

I was never an extreme couponer, but I was a regular coupon users. My goal was to get save at least 50% with sales and coupons, which I was able to do regularly. Now, I just watch the sales and stock up when I can. Too many coupons expire within a month so it is hardly worth it to coupon anymore.
My store isn't doing any Monopoly game; maybe it is a regional thing?

Monopoly is a Safeway/Albertson promotion. I've about given up on coupons as 90% of what comes in the Sunday paper are products I don't use or ads for other items without a coupon.
Once in a while I can find a good coupon for Clarispray but that's about it. I shop the sales and stock up on basics that way.

I haven't been able to extreme coupon in my area ever. They don't do double/triple coupons here. I used to play the grocery game when the kids were still living at home and did save a lot of money that way that we were able to use for the extra expenses during their high school years. Every little bit helps ya know? Now I just use my Safeway app and apply the coupons on that to my account. If I see a good coupon elsewhere I will use it. I do play the Monopoly game. I have for a couple years. I seem to get a lot of free donuts and bagels. Since we don't really eat either of those things, I always take those little coupons with me and RAK them to someone I see that is buying them. I do that with all the free coupons I get that I won't ever use. People are usually happy to get them. Last year I did see about 10 free movies doing the online part of the game. I won tons of fandango points. I also won a few free on line cooking classes which was pretty cool and a couple Shutterfly items. Right now I have a free tub of cream cheese to pick up and a free Red box 1 day rental. Hard to beat anything that is free (other than your time to pull all the stupid game pieces apart and search for the match). When it's crappy cold/snowy outside it gives me something to do. I'm one piece away from the Million dollars and one piece away on quite a few other prizes. I won't hold my breath.

i think the days of extreme couponing (the legal way, anyway) are over. stores have tightened their coupon policies, companies have certainly changed their coupon policies (limits etc), and it seems to be impossible (at least where I live ) to get in on a good deal, unless you wait in front of the store the day the sale starts, purchased coupons in hand, and clear the shelves. i swear.... at our 24 hour grocery store, I will stop there on my way to the gym at 4 am the day the sale starts, and the shelves are already empty! sure, deals are still to be had. but couponing is not what it used to be. when i first started back in 2005 (which really is not that long ago), CVS had limits of 5 (FIVE!!!) per deal per card. now it's down to one. our grocery store used to have buy one, get TWO free sales.... not anymore! i used to be able to get TP and PT for free.....now? Not so much!

Can't comment on the couponing, but my 22 yr old DD loves to play the Monopoly game from Safeway. She whips that gameboard out when we come home and hopes for the best. We've won a couple of Shutterfly items, free tomato sauce, free yogurt, a couple of decent coupons, but I think it's the thrill of possibility that does it for her.

I don't coupon, but a girl I went to high school with started about 3 months ago. She has enough shampoo and laundry detergent to be clean for the apocalypse. She keeps buying more shelving to store her scores. I don't know how much she's "saving", but she's definitely extreme.

We used to do the Monopoly game, but stopped last year. We never won anything or got coupons that were useful.

I didn't ever extreme coupon - it was never that good where I have lived. I did coupon though. Now I use rebate apps.
I'm doing monopoly. Last year I got a bunch of free items - pasta, salad dressing etc. A couple of movie tickets too. Haven't got any this year yet. I love it when people don't want their pieces and give them to me.

I loathe the Monopoly game. But last year for the first time ever, we got a lot of free items- especially paper goods like foil, sandwich bags, paper plates, and tissue. I also remember several free deli case items like potato salad.

Our stores don’t do double or triple coupons like some places do. The closest I come to ‘extreme couponing’ is to combine a manufacturer’s coupon, a Target coupon, a sale and a gift and promotion when you buy three giant mega packs of toilet paper. With three bathrooms in our house, two more at the lake cabin and another indoor one plus an outhouse at the deer shack, we have a lot of bathrooms to keep stocked!

My 11 year old son LOVES Monopoly. He's so sure he's going to win a car or something big every year. LOL. He does get a few donuts out of it! If anyone wants to RAK out their monopoly please send them his way!
