I'm afraid to open the tipping debate just wondering what people do.
I use a local stores service. The website says no tipping. But one of the women does a fabulous job and I feel like I should tip her. I should probably just write a review or something but I also want to tip.
Do you tip for curbside groceries?

No - If the store policy is NO TIPPING allowed, then I do not. If those employees were caught accepting a tip they would be fired. I don't even offer.

No, i tried to tip my person one day, and she said she wasn't allowed to accept tips.

What Smartypants said. It’s actually not allowed here.

Not allowed here either, although I felt really bad for all their hard work and no tip. So I just thanked him over and over again.

HEB here in Houston has a premium added to the item prices that is explicitly for the curbside service plus they add tip

If they are not allowed to accept tips, how about sending a commendation letter praising their wonderful service to their boss? It would go in their file and look good when it’s time for their next review.

If they have a no tipping policy then no, I don’t. However, ours does not have that policy and has a prompt to add a tip so yes, I do.

Back in the day we always tipped the bag boys who carried our groceries to the car. Then one day, no tipping allowed. Of course that was back when we got S&H Green Stamps too. Like others have said. Don't tip them. If she does a great job, send a letter to her boss.

It is kind that so many want to tip but at the end of the day, if the policy says no tipping then that's that, and we have to remember that they arer doing the job that they are being paid for, hopefully at a decent rate. A warm thank you would make me feel appreciated if someone thanked me for doing a great job.

That's what they are hired to do, and they are paid at least minimum wage. Also, the stores here add a premium to your order for curbside pick up. The cashiers inside work just as hard, as do the workers behind the deli and meat counters. Do you feel the need to tip them as well?

No
And I think it's wrong/disrespectful to try if the policy is no tipping. It puts the employee in an uncomfortable position.
When I worked a job with a no tipping policy, accepting a tip was a fireable offense.

Nope. Since the jump in minimum wage to $14.00 (general) 13.15 (student) and 12.20 (Server) an hour I have stopped tipping for a lot of things.

They grocery shop for me, put my cold groceries in another refrigerator/freezer, bring the groceries outside, and load them in my car. That has to be worth more than the $4.95 fee they charge! And I assume that goes to the store, not to the person bringing the groceries to my car.

No.
I worked at a grocery store in high school and it was a store with a union. We were not allowed to accept tips. People would try to tip me if I helped them out to their cars and it made me so scared, I would refuse, thinking it was a secret shopper trying to catch me accepting tips.

They're paid an hourly rate for all that just like a cashier or stocker, and the grocery stores around here pay well above minimum wage. I don't feel too badly for them.

This isn't a case where they are paid less like a waitress and tips are expected. They are hired to do this job and know going in what the pay will be. The tipping culture is getting out of hand, where we are expected to tip anyone we come in contact with on a daily basis.

Yes, same in Ohio. It said no tipping and today I did it for the first time and watched 3 other cars ahead of me and never saw a cash tip. The man who helped me said I could give his name as reference for a promotion they do that accumulates dollars that he then uses to buy meals. Although, I almost felt like he stalled a bit waiting for a tip. Back in VA, I used Peapod delivery but we don’t have that here. I decided to try Kroger’s since I need to stop overspending. The only problem is they always run out of items according to others and sometimes the produce items aren’t the greatest. With that being said, I didn’t have any issues on this order.

We have had great service at American Eagle and Ulta, but we don't tip them. We speak to their manager and tell them what a great employee they have. We also email their corporate office and compliment the employee! And we tell the employee how wonderful they are!

I would if I could because I'm very specific with my requests, and I also have been a shopper so I know what it takes to do it well. But at our store, they're not allowed to accept tips.

I don't tip as they are not allowed to accept them here. I do always try to call them by the name on their name tag and thank them, telling them how much I appreciate the job they did for me. I have also called the local manager or written a compliment on the store's contact us page when they do an exceptional job. The young man, the last time I went, who said as he placed them in a more protected area in my trunk: "I am putting your bread and eggs right here so they won't get squashed and you can easily find them to carry into your house", got both a phone call to his boss and an e-mail praise on the store's Corporate website.

I need to move where they have all these services - baggers, curbside service, carrying groceries to car. We got nothing like any of that up here!

Do you at least have the home delivery option with a service like Instacart or Amazon Prime Now? I don't often use these services, but it's really nice to have them when you need/want them. I wish these services had been around when DD was young and I was working. It would have made life a bit easier at times! Now I must go make an addition to our retirement location "must haves"....grocery delivery/curbside pickup availability!
