Hey everyone, We had a good time catching up with my bff and her fiance last night ... I'm trying to get back into doing "normal" social things and it seems to be going well I plan to hit the grocery store today and brush my dog but that's it ... the rest of the day will be relaxing in anticipation of another long week at my program Dinner tonight will be homemade hot wings (baked and then covered in Franks buffalo sauce) ... yummy I'll serve some raw veggies with them ... Your meme today is what I posted on Facebook ... I thought it was cute What is on your menu tonight?

We had a lovely night out last night, but were late home and then I had trouble falling asleep, so I am a bit tired today.
Lunch today was provided by our church. Each year during Lent we have a 'Soup Sunday' - people (around 10-12) volunteer to bring a large pot of soup, bread rolls are purchased and everyone is invited after Mass to stay, eat soup and make a donation towards a charity we support - for the past 20 years it has been a refugee center. This year we raised over €1600 - that is a lot of soup!
Tonight I'm heading to my SnB around 6:30, where I will have cake and a drink.

We've had a wonderful weekend with DS being here. Went to a small zoo yesterday and DH and DS liked it much more than I thought they would. They both took some great pictures ~ I had mittens on so couldn't use my cell phone camera. In the afternoon DH taught us how to do a painting technique called dirty pour and I think we're both hooked! DS will leave to go back to the bay area around 9:30. We sure miss him. For dinner it will be something like baked chicken thighs or pork chops.

We’re going to my sister’s house around 2:00 for a family gathering to remember my nephew who died two weeks ago. His Dad didn’t want (I think it’s more a case of inability...emotionally, physically and financially) to do anything so my niece, the oldest sister of the one who died, asked my sister if we could have this at her house. Our contribution is 3 dozen chicken salad sandwich rolls I put together this morning. There will also be egg and shrimp salad rolls, quiche, salad, fruit, chips and desserts. If we’re hungry this evening we have fresh pollock we can cook when we get home.

I'm making a comfort food casserole: wild rice, chicken, mushrooms, and delicious & nutritious cream of mushroom soup. It's topped off with French fried onions. Not too healthy, but yummy. Our veggie will probably be broccoli. I made it one week without sugar and then broke down and ate some snickerdoodle cookies I made last night. It wasn't worth it; I felt like crap last night. So I begin over today.

tuesdaysgone... sorry the sugar caused you problems. I practice moderation as long as I can use self control. Snickerdoodles were my mom’s favorite so your post made me smile.

My instant pot has been getting a workout the past few weeks. Tonight it's cooking up some spaghetti and meatballs and we'll have a salad to go with. We have a gooey chocolate cakey thing DH picked up at the store yesterday to finish off for dessert. Then we'll probably catch up on some of our TV series ... Blacklist, Blue Bloods, Five, The Alienist, It's Never Too Late, This Is Us ... we have so many to choose from!

Well DH is leaving around 4:30 today. I'm not quite sure what to have for dinner. It will be just DS and I.
I might go to the store and pick something up.

I'm so exhausted I feel sick. This weekend has been too busy, so tomorrow I'm going to do my very best impersonation of that ferret.
Dinner? We ordered pizza, we always do when we celebrate someone's birthday (DS and your truly this time). I made lemon mousse (and there's enough for breakfast), and my mom and BIL baked three yummy cakes (and yes, we have leftover cake as well, so lunch is sorted also).

miominmio, Is it your birthday today? I wish you a very Happy and Joyous Birthday followed by a wonderful year. KelleeM , may your nephew's memory be for a blessing. tuesdaysgone , don't let one encounter w/cookies ruin your day. You're back on it today. We're probably having chicken Florentine unless I find a good sheet pan recipe that I like.

I've got a beef roast in the crockpot for French dip sandwiches. I went to the deli yesterday and bought 2 kinds of cole slaw, potatoes salad and cucumber/dill salad to go with the sandwiches. I'm hungry and ready to eat!

KelleeM .....(( hugs )) to you and your family! leannec..... I'm glad you had fun with your friends. Prayers for your upcoming 2nd week ! I've been doing better lately, but unfortunately, I'm struggling with $@*(# depression. I was supposed to meet a sweet friend for lunch at a lovely restaurant but I cancelled---which was a BIG mistake, because it's just making me feel more depressed...ugh!

I have lamb chops for dinner tonight-the leftover ones. I will make some sort of pasta to go with and maybe have salad and something. I don't know. I will get inspired in a little while. I ate a lot this afternoon so I will eat later maybe at 7 tonight.
I hope everyone had a blessed Sunday. I know I got to spend it with friends and enjoyed it thoroughly. All is great!

scrappintoee, when you're depressed it's easy to get sucked into the abyss. I would call that friend up and schedule something for this week, knowing that you cannot cancel it. Your friendships are your lifeline and your friends will be there to support you when you're depressed. If you're feeling even more depressed I would talk to both your therapist and the doctor, hopefully a psychiatrist who prescribes your meds. Sounds like it's time for a med tweak. Something that simple can really help you come back to the light. I'm sorry that you're feeling so down.

Lol leannec that pic was how my Sunday has gone. I made Greek burgers with tzaziki and roasted red peppers that I marinade in balsamic vinegar and garlic. Broccoli and roasted potatoes with thyme and oregano on the side.

We had chinese delivered. My dad was supposed to come home from the hospital today, but some department didn’t have their stuff together and the TPN (nutritional feeding through a tube)wasn’t ready for him, so now the plan is tomorrow. It disappointed all of us. He’s finally feeling better and ready to come home and the people can’t get their act together. This hospital experience has been extremely stressful and it seemed like all of these drs who should be working as a team just weren’t communicating with each other and that was so frustrating and maddening at times. He was told on Friday that he was being transferred to a dr at another hospital in DC and called me all upset, I rushed there to barricade the door if necessary until we had answers and it turned out to be a PA who needs to speak in a different manner to patients. She meant his case/ records were being transferred to that specialist for a consulatation. My brother (who had spine surgery, is going through PT, walking with a walker) started driving again last week and it has just opened the world back up for him! And tonight, he pushed his walker away from him and walked to it unassisted. My heart about stopped when he first did it, but man, am I happy for him. I’m going home at some point this week since my dd’s bridal shower is next weekend. She and her fiancé have been cleaning and setting up their new townhouse they rented and she’s been sending pictures & videos all weekend. Makes me happy for them, but so sad for me. I will miss her terribly. They won’t be far away, but it won’t be the same. I hope I can hold it together for her shower.. geez.....

I made pork roast in the crockpot with a sauce. I planned to make sides but the kitchen guy stayed til 8PM. So I picked up corn bread, green beans, and Mac n cheese to go with it. Kitchen guy says 1 more week. I tried to put my cake plates in the butler pantry but they’re too wide. 😩 KelleeM prayers for your nephew. It’s so hard when someone younger passes. Depression sucks try to force yourself to do something. They sent my father home tonight. He will get home health for a little bit. You may remember we had finally set it up for my mom but she fired them all.

Today was shot because I took the two eldest snowboarding. We all managed to scrape by on leftovers. Tomorrow is going to be the chicken tenders we didn't cook today. I think I'll make a ranch dip to go with them. And there will be broccoli of some fashion...I think raw to also go with the ranch dip! And that reminds me, I have to look at the grocery store flyer tonight.

I will miss her terribly. They won’t be far away, but it won’t be the same. I hope I can hold it together for her shower.. geez..... I know it's bad to have to stay one more day in a hospital, but they need to be able to feed your dad and sometimes it's difficult to coordinate home health care w/TPN on the weekends. The pharmacists and nurses are on call, but not always available for a new patient admission. W/TPN a nurse should come over every other weekday to inspect the port and change your dad's tegraderm(tape that covers the port or catheter in his chest). Your dad's nurse will be monitoring for infection that can happen w/a port. He doesn't want a line infection and a nurse will help prevent that and at the first sign of infection his nurse will send him to the doctor to be treated, if that happens. Home nursing might take a bit of a load off of you. My experience has been that TPN nurses are on the ball. The nurse can draw labs through the port, too. He/she will need to, because your dad's blood sugar will be carefully monitored, as well as other things. They make the formula according to his recent labs. I hope I've explained the care that goes along with TPN a bit. If you can be at the first nursing visit that would be a very good thing. It's a lot of stress for you, but you're your dad's best advocate. Take care of yourself, too. Your health and happiness is important.

I was called by the caretaker from my parent's garage. I had to yell at both of them to stop acting like babies and to get it together. Even the caretaker was stressed due to my dad's antics. My prayers are w//you and your dad.
