I am hoping some peas can help me. I just had Spectrum here to see what we need to do to speed up our internet. DS plays xbox and has been complaining about speed. I have noticed lately that my streaming videos has had more issues with bandwidth recently. The technician was so nice and replaced our modem that we rent from spectrum and recommended a new router. He couldn’t quote a price for getting one from them and I have been recently burned by spectrum so I am going to get a new one. He couldn’t recommend one but said we needed one that has 5 ghz capability.
Anyone have any recommendations?

From DH: It will depend on your download speed that you are paying for. We are also on Spectrum and even their Turbo plan which should bring in 100MB a sec. But we are out in the sticks on the end of a long run and that is a rock star day. Rain, squirrels, and whatever else causes slowdowns. Most of the routers on this page will cover your needs. Stick with a gigabit router for future-proofing things in case they suddenly get fiber in your area. But honestly, spend the lowest amount to cover the future tech you need. The $300 router is fast as hell, but wont do dick on a choked spectrum pipe. I have a E8400 ($54) right now doing the heavy lifting at my house and it can max out the 100MB connection just fine over wireless. I would recommend the MU-MIMO routers that are just a touch more. Should be under $90. router linkThen most importantly you need to junk your patch cables that come with all of these modems and most likely the ones you have now. Here's a good source for reasonably priced good quality ones. cablesHope that helps!!

This is the one we have (and we have Spectrum/Time Warner): www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F0DD0I6/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1It's expensive but it made a huge difference in our internet throughout our large, old, brick house. Before we got it we were lucky if one of us could stream at a time, now we can easily have 3 devices streaming at once without issue. That said, we find that the 5G is useless, it seems to be inconsistent so we stick with the standard and it's just fine.

Well, as I know, Netgear Nighthawk AX8 8-Stream AX5700 is pretty popular. You may give it a try.
