So DH and I are going to Maui in May as an early 20th anniversary trip. I need to find a new swimsuit, but I dread it so much! I know y'all feel my pain! I'm looking for a high neck, or at least something I won't fall out of when we're snorkeling or when I bend over. I'm about a size 18, but with a 36 G cup. Seems like all the plus size suits for larger busts also have a larger band size, or at least that was the case with my last Lands' End suit. Where do you like to shop for swimsuits? Lana

These places seem to have suits to meet your requirements. Of course they are not the cheapest but then swimsuits seem to be expensive no matter where you order from. I've not purchased from them so don't know quality. www.figleaves.comwww.barenecessities.com

Lands end is my go to shop. I know you said you don't like them but they work for me and I'm large busted. You can buy tankini's and then board shorts for bottoms - that's my go to swim suit and I don't feel ridiculous in them.

I actually do like Lands End! My last 3 or 4 swimsuits have come from there. I love that their tankini tops are long and don't show my midriff even when i raise my arms. Maybe I need to go look again... Lana Lands end is my go to shop. I know you said you don't like them but they work for me and I'm large busted. Ugh! I’m dreading this so much! I’ve been wearing the same suit for years. We usually only go swimming once or twice per week, so one is all I’ve ever needed. I’ve lost weight though so now I have to buy a new one. I need to bite the bullet and shop.

The good thing about the ocean is it doesn't care too much about lint clogging the filters like a pool does. So if you don't find exactly what you want in a swim suit you can add board shorts or a rash guard. Or go with a sports bra/rash guard and boardshorts.

The best swimsuit I've ever found was at a local shop called Everything But Water. What's different about this shop is they sell the suits by bra size. I'm a 36DD and this worked so much better for me. This was several years ago. I got a tankini with a nice top that covered everything (like the one's that Lands End offers) but I felt so much more secure on top where my boobs were. I snorkeled in it and it was great. They are still in business and on line. I checked to see and they offer up to a 38GG bra size.
The one I got was great quality. I still really like it but it's too big on top. Next time I need a suit I plan to go back to this store and get a new one.

I've heard these sites recommended several times... guess I will have to take the plunge and try them! I wonder how the sizing is on the swim tops. I mean, a plus size suit is going to need more fabric than a size 6, even if the bra size is the same. These places seem to have suits to meet your requirements. I get my suits from Title Nine. I like them because they are geared towards people who are active in their suits. I have a lay-around-a-resort suit for that sort of occasion, but most of the time, if I am in a swimsuit, I am playing with or chasing kids around, and I am looking to avoid any sort of swimsuit malfunction.
I don't know what sizes they cover, however.

I hate to spend so freaking much money on an item I hate but the beach with my 3 kids is coming up in 70ish days and I need something.

PS When you get to the page of swimsuit available in your bra size if you go to shop online at Everything But Water don't worry if all you see on the Tankini page are bikini bottoms. The Tankini tops are sold by themselves and when you click on the top and see it alone, underneath it will be a choice of bottoms that match including a skirted bottom that is long enough to cover all bumps you don't want seen but is really flattering. If you'd rather add a board short I'd choose a simple color to match like black or a pattern that'd be easy to match and then add a board short from Land's End.

They have a few that are also sold by bra size which I really like. Their tankinis though look like they fit very tightly towards the body, rather than flowing a bit away from the body. Maybe they are just photographed wet? Have you tried one of their tankinis? I've been looking at their Pele suit and their Bodacious suit. I'd love to try a bikini but I've got to many stretch marks to get away with it.

The ones I have are not tight-fitting through the waist. Whatever ones I have aren't on the web site this year (they tie at the neck, so I know I don't see them), but the bodacious top looks similar to what I have. I really love them and they wash well.

Thank you so much for answering my question Epeanymous. Actually when I think back on it I've been looking at the Title Nine catalog for a lot more years than just two, and always promising myself that once I'd lost my weight I'd ordered some clothes from this catalog-I love their clothes! Bra sized swimwear (when you are bigger on top) just makes so much sense to me. So thank you again for your great review. What they have sounds (of course it could just be great advertising) in their catalog descriptions as just what I'm looking for. I'm not one to sit on a beach or by the pool. I need swimwear that will stay put and allow me to be active. I remember the suit top that you are referring to. Like I said, I've been oohing and ahhing over their catalog for awhile now Thanks to you I'm going to order one from here and give it a try this season.

dawnnikol - I ended up ordering this swimsuit from Amazon. I ordered a 16, thinking it might be too small, but it fits great! It has tummy control and has slight ruching for extra camouflage And it was $30 cheaper on Amazon than it was in my local Dillards! Lana

I was recommended this website from here a few years ago. Love the suits I got from there! My favourite for snorkelling is a dress one piece which has lycra shorts built in which makes me feel so much more confident getting in and out of boats with other people- no flashing my bum! I did follow someone's advice about upsizing though- great quality, I'm heading off to Fiji again soon and will probably add another to my collection. Because I am big busted I buy the ones with moulded cups and they take longer to dry so I always take at least 4 pairs- hate putting on damp bathers. Corinne
