I stopped using warehouse pick up for my photos because my store's people suck. They come up with every excuse in the world to blame everyone but themselves for why my pictures come out awful, but they've never turned out bad when I order them to be shipped and 4x6 prints ship free whether you order 1 or 1,000,000. Soooo, I stopped picking them up. The pricing had always been the same for pick up and mailing at 17 cents per 4x6 and 14 cents when you hit 100, so color me shocked when the price dropped to 9 cents when I checked out. I searched their pricing list and the prices are now 9 cents across the board if you have them mailed (still no shipping fee), but the in store pricing is still the same as it was before.
Does anyone know when this change happened? It was obviously sometime between August and now since August is the last time I ordered pictures.
Hopefully, if you order from Costco and were unaware of this change, you'll enjoy the good news, too. My 243 pictures cost me under $24 instead of the nearly $37 I was expecting! I'm thrilled. It's not every day that you see prices drop for no apparent reason. The only other time I've seen them offer prints for this price was when they had to close down online ordering for almost 6 months a couple of years ago...I was about 2 years behind and had something like 2,000 photos printed out when it finally came back up as I decided to use the time I couldn't order to prepare as many photos as I could for printing...which was the last time I ordered for warehouse pick up as I had to have several hundred reprinted and will have to do a lot of cropping and matting in my PL for the ones I gave up on having them fix because the reprints were just as bad (there was a pedal or something that kept leaving marks smack in the middle of my prints because it was pulling ink up when it touched them when they were still wet and almost every single collage print was crooked with a white triangle on one corner because they couldn't manage to insert the paper into the machine correctly...which they insisted was NOT their fault repeatedly).
ETA: I called their phone number to see if they could tell me if this was a promotion or a permanent change and the person on the other line was only able to successfully repeat my questions back to me. The only thing she could tell me was that it was relatively new. My local warehouse is hopefully going to call their support number to see if they can get an actual answer for me.
ETA2: The lady from my local warehouse just called me back and said it's an ongoing price, not a promotion. So it looks like it should be around for a while. This makes me especially happy because I'll often delay printing photos so I can get to 100. Now I don't have to and can (in theory, anyway) keep up with PL easier!!

So the 9 cent price is just for mail? I know that they have closed the photo center in some of the stores. I'm on a first name basis with my photo center. They used to do coupons for 9 cent prints but I haven't seen any since before the online website mess up.

Thanks for sharing! I am usually too impatient to order mine in the mail... and I also think it's funny that the photo center people know who I am, makes me feel like a VIP.

But when my options are constantly having to ask them to reprint photos (for them to not get any better) or wait a week...I opt to wait a week. Plus, even though they'll reprint them at no charge, you have to return to them the misprints which I'm not comfortable doing seeing as my children are the primary focus of my photos. When you return photos, you don't get to see them destroyed, so I have no clue what is happening with my pictures. I will still order for in store pick up if time is an issue...which does happen here and there. I just make sure none of them are collaged as those are the ones they are 99% guaranteed to ruin.

Well, our photo center is closing. I prefer to pick them up, but I am happy for your u and others who are fine with having them mailed. I wonder if several locations are closing their photo centers, and a lower price for doing everything online is their way of making it less painful?
Also, we just had wedding invitations done. The larger greeting cards in store are LESS than the 5x7 ones that are sent out. So it's a little odd there, and less expensive in store. In store they were ready in 24 hours, too. It was a longer wait for the ones that are sent out.

We have probably close to 10+ Costco's in about a 20 mile radius. I prefer the Costco greetings 5x7 ones that are sent out because they are cardstock and double sided. The ones that I've seen in-store are only on photo paper. Which I don't think are as nice. I don't think our store has cardstock printing in store.

Thanks for sharing. I'm always thinking about renewing my Costco membership rather than continuing to shop at Sam's Club. Sam's photo printing is absolutely hideous. I always loved Costco prints.

Do you have to be a member of Costco to get pictures developed online?

Do you have to be a member of Costco to get pictures developed online? I'm not 100% sure, but my gut says yes. In your profile there is a place to put your card/account number which is why I think you need a membership, but I could be wrong.

I didn't know you could have them shipped. I just looked into photos from there the other day. My costco doesn't have photo service, the nearest one is 2 hours away and it looked like I couldn't have them shipped. Next time I need photos I'll just upload and try to check out for shipping.

scrapaddict702 Thank you so much for posting this! I love that they lowered their prices for online orders but I'm sad that I probably won't have the majority of my prints done at the store anymore. I really like the young man that works there. He has been so helpful and kind. Gosh, I feel so bad that I won't be giving him much business but that is a significant savings and we are on a budget. Having three kids is expensive. I'll still drop off our ink cartridges to be refilled and probably have some smaller orders printed at the store.

More kids also means more photos! I'm thrilled with the price change as the jump from 13 cents to the tiered structure was frustrating. It removed my incentive for keeping up and ordering photos every week or every other week for my PL because I had to pay more per photo unless I hit 100. So long as they keep it at 9 cents, I can print my pictures weekly with zero guilt because it'll be the same price no matter what.

I always loved Sam's over Costco, but the last time I tried Costco was years ago. I gave up my Sam's membership and I may try Costco instead. Are they printed in matte or glossy at Costco? Thanks!

I tested this out the pictures in my cart would be $14 to pick up, or $7 to have shipped... I forgot to check if you could get matte finish when having pictures shipped (my preference)... but otherwise it seems like a great deal!

Thanks for this information. I swear I don't scrapbook because of the backlog of photos to be printed!

The lustre finish is totally different! I don't know what to do, stamping on photos is one of my favorite parts of Project Life, and Costco was the only place I found that had photos that work for me
