I have really been going through some hard times since my son passed away and want to keep myself busy. I don't scrap very much because I ran out places to keep my books. Used to make a lot of cards and would mail them off to an organization ( don't remember the name) that would send them out to soldiers, but couple of yrs ago they said they didn't need cards anymore. Is there an organization that you know of that I could mail a box of cards to? Would love to start making cards again, but not have them sit here in boxes. TIA for your help.

I am sorry for your loss. You are probably thinking about Operation Write Home that did stop operations recently. I am going to watch this thread because I love to make cards, but don't have many people to send them to. Scrapbook.com just had this little article that might be helpful clicky I understand some senior care centers, or women's shelters, and children's hospitals might use them. I just sent an email to the volunteer coordinator for our local Meals on Wheels because someone on another board said they make cards that get delivered with meals. Waiting to hear on that inquiry.

I know that many nursing homes like to get cards for their residents, plus I think St. Judes has a program for cards as well?

I am so sorry for your loss!
I have read on here about people donating cards to seniors' homes - some of them have tables where you can leave items for people to take/use as they need them, like books and stuff. It would be easy to leave a box of cards there with a "take me" sign. I also love the idea of making cards for children at Children's Hospitals.
Jennifer McGuire talks about Operating Kindness (something like that) on her blog a lot, and often has drives to donate handmade cards - her blog might be a good resource.

I am so sorry for your loss. Google organizations that would like donations of cards in your state. I donate cards to local animal shelters who sells them and a children's organization who collects cards for a few pediatric units in Canada.
Thank-you for your kind gesture.

Ladies, thank you for your ideas. I'm going to ask around and take time to look at some organizations that were posted in GiantsFan thread. @giantsfan...thank you for the link of the thread you had started. leeny Operations write home is exactly the organization I was talking about. My mind had gone blank on the name (which happens a lot..lol )
