I have the basic punches, some squares and circles. But now I am wanting to get some more based on a video I watched punching out some of my PL cards. But I don't want to spend tons of money on them... hopefully this garage sale season I will find some people are getting rid of. But where is the cheapest place to get them? Just M's or HL? I am looking for ones like butterflies, flowers, etc.. ones that I can use more often.

Do you have a Tuesday Morning near you? The one that I frequent always has lots of punches. I've got some from yard sales and thrift stores, too. But ask if you can test them out first.

Cheap punches usually won't work with cardstock, at least not for long. Even good punches have their limitations. The tinfoil sharpening trick is more folklore than fact. If you want good shapes invest in electronic cutters, a die system, or a comfortable craft knife. And blade refills.

I do know all about the tinfoil trick..yeah never worked to good for me.. I do have an electronic cutter coming to me from my mom.. but for something quick and easy I want a few on hand... I am definitely keeping an eye out on garage sales and probably just break down and get a few from HL (when on sale)

I don't have one really near me, but when I do see one I try to stop in!! Maybe I will make a trip this weekend!

I'd also check out Craigslist and other area sales. Those will be the cheapest.

I usually just use a coupon at J's or M's.
I like to have all sizes of circles and scallops, even though I have an electronic die cutting machine.

EBay. Some of the offerings are big batches of Martha Stewart, for example, so the price and shipping per punch is pretty reasonable. I still love my punches for little things here and there.

Can't help but go slightly off topic here: "Decided I need more" is totally code for "I really don't need more but, yah, I definitely want more"! Sending you good punch-hunting vibes, workingclassdog!

Sending you good punch-hunting vibes, workingclassdog ! Well my stash of punches are about six of them.. I got rid of a bunch years ago and now regret, but really never bought 'that' many to begin with. SOOO yeah having about six means I do NEED more.. You better watch it booty.. When I get to France I will hunt you down!

Hobby Lobby often has their punches on clearance if you happen to be there at the right time. I have found some 75% off.

I stopped in a M's and they don't have them like they used to but I did find one and used a 40% off coupon, so not bad and it is fairly big.. for 6.50. 1 1/2 inch scalloped circle. Of course I went for another circle.. haha

Punches are heavy to drag around to crops, bulky to store at home and they only punch through paper or cardstock (and even then, only for a while before they crap out, even the better ones). The dies will last longer and cut through more materials, and you have the options of simple shapes or very intricate ones. I dumped about 85% of my punches a few years ago and never missed them for a second. I love and continue to buy dies for my Big Shot because they’re faster to use and more versatile overall for certain projects. I also like that the dies take up very little space in my studio and are easier to travel with when I go to crops away from home even considering having to bring along the Big Shot itself to cut with them.

I have two punches maybe? And they'll probably go soon because I cut everything with my big shot and dies. Far better investment and far less space taken up as well. Don't hesitate to use camelcamelcamel to get an email alerting you the product has dropped at or below your desired price on Amazon! That's how I scored mine here in France.

I much prefer my punches to my Big Shot. It takes literally 3 seconds to make a punch. So much faster than my Big Shot. I often punch 25 shapes at one so the time really adds up. I love edge punches too. They do take up room though, but they are so easy to find. This wall holds about half of my punches.

I like punches and dies! I'm no help! It's so much easier to grab a punch! I'm also a mostly flat scrapper. I'm okay with only using paper. I think they are easier to use with stamped images.
I have a Zip e Mate machine and it isn't my favorite. It's more work to pull that thing out because I have limited work space. My basic shape punches are in a container on my table.
I have found a few on Amazon for a decent price.

I love my punches! I buy mine at Hobby Lobby and Michaels (always with coupons) plus eBay and Amazon. I mostly have EK Sucess brand and several Martha Stewart. I’d love to have some more.
I have a few I paid full price for from Stampin Up. Pricey, but they do punch very nicely.
