...until you started to see results?
I just started using it so don’t expect anything immediately, of course. The estimates seem to vary widely! Just curious about real world users and when they started to see changes.

I went through my first container over about 3 months, and, honestly, didn’t see a big difference. I was pretty disappointed. I have yet to refill, but, I will...I still have some hope. BTW, I did a fractal laser treatment this fall, and the anti-aging results from that were amazing!!

I was wondering the same thing. I’ve used it off and on for a few years but probably not consistently enough if it takes awhile to see results. I have had to adjust my strength because I was having too much peeling, and am now still just using it 3 times per week. Last night I decided that I should use up my PTR retinol serum that I was using before so am going to use that on the other nights. I haven’t noticed any major changes over the time I have used retin-a. But my mom feels like it works well for her.

About a month. But I had to use in conjunction with a tone evening (hydroquinone) and an exfoliant medication. Turned my skin around.

I got soft skin right away. The texture felt amazing. It's kind of rough right now because I screwed up. I would say I saw results by about month 2. Do we need to use it every night? Is 2x week enough? I am not sure. I didn't get a lot of diagnosing information from the doctor. Any thoughts?

Angie at Hot and Flashy said 9 months. I tried last year and was using the wrong strength and quit because of the peeling. I restarted in March and am just now up to every other day, no peeling and using 0.025. No noticeable changes yet.

I've been using it for years so I'm not sure how to answer. My skin looks pretty good, I guess. Lately I've been feeling old, frumpy, and dumpy. With that said, I got a nice compliment tonight. Someone at work said that she couldn't believe my age. I'd like to believe her LOL. I don't necessarily use the Retin A every night. Several times per week, for sure.
I'm using .05 at the moment. When I first started I used a weaker concentration. I also use a 20% glycolic acid, which I apply each morning.

I've been using it around 4 or 5 years. Every night with a skip here or there. I have never noticed anything other than my under eye area seems better on the days I skip it. (and no I do not actually put it under there, I guess it just migrates) The only reason I keep using it is because every time I try and stop I start breaking out. Now I don't really know what my skin would be like if I didn't use it, but it did not "reverse" anything. Maybe if you have really damaged skin you would notice something??

It might be helpful to take pictures as well. I’ve watched Angie’s videos on her results and it doesn’t seem that she has a lot of wrinkles, but there are definitely improvements since she started it 5 years ago. Most notably her hooded eyes.

about a month and it's subtle-more of a "my skin looks brighter and healthier" way
It's also not great for wrinkles that are already there-it's for preventing new ones from forming

After I went ahead and got Botox Just kidding, I didn't get prescription Retin A, but I was using the strongest OTC stuff. Meh. I wasn't blown away. Botox though, that stuff is the shit. I only have gotten it once (about a year ago), but I need to get back in and get some again on my bitch 11's and a couple forehead lines. Even though it technically only lasts about 3 months, i could see the impact of it much longer because it had relaxed those muscles and the creases took time to re-form. And in the scope of what skin care products cost, I have to say, botox is a great value for the results. Obviously still have to do the other stuff, but I'm a believer - nothing helps wrinkles more than keeping them from forming!

I don’t think the OTC retinol is as strong as Retin-A. From what I’ve read and researched, it’s not really even worth the money to use a OTC product. She’s a bit annoying, but Dr Dray on YouTube has some good videos on the topic.
I agree that Botox is amazing. I love what it does for my 11’s. I’ve had it three times in the last year and am close to needing a refresh.

I had it done for the first time in late November and just had it redone last weekend. It's amazing. I'm so glad I did it now when the lines were still fine instead of waiting until they were deeper. My forehead is so smooth but I still have enough movement that it looks totally natural. I was nervous the first time, but I was so happy with the results, I'll definitely keep up with it.

I have been using it for years due to acne and then just continued using it for prevention and because I knew it was supposed to be good for aging. I’m in my mid 50s. I never noticed any difference but last month I went for electrólisis and the beautician told me I had great skin, that it is very plump and supple. She asked me if I had done treatments for it! That’s when I thought I guess the tretinoin works after all.

i use an acne cream that has mild Retin-A properties (acne cream at 50. uggg). it didn't take long to see results though. it stimulates skin turnover so i was peeling within a week and new skin was coming through. i've been using it for about a year.

I googled “Retin-a before and after” after reading this thread and found several videos with pictures and details about the results. Some people said that they noticed smoother, brighter skin in about a month but that the results continue to come after several months. Some said that they had to adjust the frequency and strength a few times (up or down) to get results without too many side effects. One person said that she was ready to quit using it because of the peeling after going up in strength but then she looked at pics and noticed how much difference there was. It seems that for a lot of people, it is more of a “big picture” effect rather than noticing small changes when examining certain parts of the face. I was encouraged that some others besides Angie said that they had an improvement in their hooded eyes. One person said that she put the Retin-a on her browbone and lids but I’m not sure I want to do that. Those videos have encouraged me to keep using it and be more diligent about using it consistently to work my way up in frequency and strength. I currently use the lowest strength. I first was prescribed .05 but then when I got my next refill the doctor gave me .10. That was too strong and I had a lot of irritation. So now the dermatologist gave me .025.

Apparently using retinols in the eye area can lead to clogging of the oil ducts on your eyelids, leading to irritation, peeling, and blepharitis. It's not fun. I didn't even use it in the eye area, but some of it apparently migrated while I slept because I have somewhat oily skin. I use the same thing papersilly uses, or something very similar.

I think the hoodedness of my eyes has decreased a bit. My skin is super soft (but peeling right now). I plan to keep using it forever and ever. I hope I see more benefits from it soon.

It was a very light lotion and it replaced my moisturizer. What glycolic acid do you use?

It's packaged in plain white containers and has the dermatologist's own label on it, so I'm not sure of it's exact origin. Sorry I can't help!
