Aw, Happy Birthday to Ms. Cleary. I devoured everything she wrote when I was a child.

That is amazing! I loved her books growing up. Then, my DD and I got to enjoy them together when she was younger too.

Oh wow, I had no idea she was still alive! Not only that I can't believe that her books were written so long ago and they are still so loved. I read them during the 80's and when I have kids they're going to be required reading.

This popped up in my FB memories from two years ago when she celebrated her 100th birthday. Jayden happened to be reading this book at that time.

Loved all her books. Beverly Cleary and Judy Bloom were my childhood favorites. I read them all many, many times.

The Mouse and the Motorcycle is one of my very favorite childhood books!!! (I could just picture that little mouse in his little helmet; made from a ping pong ball... if I recall correctly, that is.)

My DD and I just read all of the Ralph the Mouse books a few months ago and it was so fun reading them again with her. She loved them just as much as I did when I was her age!

I met her at an author illustrator festival when I was a little girl. It was one of the highlights of my childhood.

Matthew adores reading. The only time there's not a book in his hand is when he's in the shower. He devours books. So it broke my heart wide open when he read several of her books from different series and said he didn't care for any of them. She was one of my favorite authors when I was a child.

Ramona is still one of the all time great characters from children's lit. Kids at my school still read Cleary books.

I credit her with my love of reading, her books are some of the very first I ever read. I had no idea she was still alive - how awesome is that!

Love her. She gave us Henry Huggins, Ribsy, Beezus and Ramona, Otis Spoffard, Ellen Tebbits, and the whole gang. To this day, I’ll think about something Ramona did and laugh. She never talked down to kids, and never made her characters annoyingly perfect like some books did. They all had their vulnerabilities and foibles, and as a child, I related to that.

Her books were such a huge part of my childhood. I wrote her for a class assignment in 3rd grade and she sent back a lovely note. Sadly, I did not save it!

I'm happy to hear that she's still alive and celebrating her 102nd birthday-way to go Beverly Cleary!
I adored her books when I was a child. Beezus and her little sister Ramona rang so true for me because I was the oldest of four and had two younger sisters, and a brother. I saw myself as Beezus and my sister(s) as Ramona. I also loved Henry Huggins and all of her other books. I knew when I saw her name on a book as the author that it was going to be a great book.
