How many of you like to stamp your own background papers for scrapbooking? It's more work, so I don't do it often, but I love the control that stamping my own background gives me. I have a huge stash of both papers and stamps, but sometimes it is hard to find the right background papers. When that happens, I tend to stamp my own.
It's actually one reason that I wanted the Tim Holtz platform. It would be easier to stamp backgrounds and keep them even and consistent. At least that was my assumption. I have yet to use it that way.
Have any of you stamped your own background papers for a layout? Did you use a stamp platform? If so, how well did it work for you?

I have not tried stamping backgrounds. I have tons of paper that I need to use and honestly when I start scraping I don’t want to spend the extra time stamping or even making my own embellishments. As it is it takes me forever to type up my journaling and atratch it to the layout. But if you are willing to put the time into it, I’m sure it would come out great.

I haven't made my own background papers for a scrapbook layout using stamps, but I often do it using my digital supplies. I create most of my layouts in PSE and then transform the page into paper. There are so many cool digital stamps and brushes that I tend to use a piece of white cardstock as my base and run it through my printer to transfer the digital background onto the page. I just wish that my printer would print a true 12x12 page so I could get the border exactly where it should be.

I haven't been stamping whole backgrounds, but I've been stamping on more of my scraps lately, and then heat embossing, in order to get a little more bling on my pages.
I've seen a few mixed media backgrounds that I want to try out though, with dye or paint and then black ink stamping on top. I think they look amazing, but those pages look best with single photo layouts, and I usually make multi-photo pages. It's on my "someday" list.

I like the stamp/smoosh method, but haven't used it since some leafy backgrounds last fall. justjac does some really cool backgrounds that way. Just did a bit of background stamping with heat embossing for a page I hope to finish next week (don't have the photos yet). And for my 100 Days project, I did a few stamp resist pieces--stamp/heat emboss/ink over--but used them on cards rather than pages.

I do it all the time for cards and PL. But I don't often do it for a traditional layout — I do 9x12, so I only do it if there's a big alpha or something similar.
I actually rarely use my stamp platform when I'm doing backgrounds. They tend to be more free form and using a stamp platform is limiting b/c of the size of the platform. I tend to only use my stamp platform for making embellishments or times when I need super crisp images/embossing.

I have stamped whole backgrounds, but it has been a long time, and I did them by hand, not with the stamp press. I have the Tonic, which would allow me to stamp one section, turn, stamp the next section, etc., but I have not yet tried it. I would need to look through my stamps to see what stamps would make a nice background paper. Not all stamps would work well for that.
I know there are others who have used their stamps to create background papers, so I wondered if anyone had used the stamp platform instead of doing it by hand. Maybe I should have asked on the scrapping board instead.

I know there are others who have used their stamps to create background papers, so I wondered if anyone had used the stamp platform instead of doing it by hand. Maybe I should have asked on the scrapping board instead. With my autumn leaf background, I used the WRMK precision press. Some of the stamps were 3layer stamps, so I arranged the stamps for the first layer, then stamped all 4 corners of my 12x12 cs, rotating it as you mentioned. Then repeated with 2nd & 3rd layers. Followed this up by arranging different stamps randomly to fill in some of the spaces on one corner. Stamped all 4 corners with one colour ink, then rearranged those stamps and used different colours to repeat the process a couple more times. Also used versa mark and metallic EP for an arrangement or two. I didn't use TH oxides for this process, but think I would like to try them, blending with a sponge right after stamping each corner. I I did my backgrounds before a crop, but didn't use them all as full background pages. Here is a page with a piece of the stamped layered leaves bg on it Fall photo shoot 5 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr I I hope you experiment with this technique and show us what you come up with.
