I am flying into Miami next week (catching a cruise line).
Every time I mention the Miami airport--people make faces and tell me it is terrible and they hate it.
What is the problem?
I've flown through DFW, Atlanta, Chicago, Toronto, Washington D.C. and LaGuardia. How is Miami worse than those?

I’ve flown Miami a few times - it’s made zero impression on me - can’t be that bad.

My impression of Miami airport? The food sucks. Seriously, for an airport that large, it’s a tragedy that they don’t have one place to get decent food. Otherwise, meh.

We were just in Miami. The only odd thing is the labels on the security checkins do not make sense. Like three of them listed our gate as places to enter but the first two we tried to enter they said that it wasn’t the right one. I can’t remember exactly how it worked but we were supposed to go out of gate 28 and the first checkpoint said “gates 1-30” and they wouldn’t let us enter. The next checkpoint said something like “gates 10-40” and they wouldn’t let us enter that one either. Finally the third one they let us in.
That really wasn’t the numbering system, but it was weird like that.

We were there flying in for our honeymoon 19 years ago. I felt as though I was in a different country. It seem busy/ fast paced and maybe different from perhaps Chicago because I didn't notice a lot of businessmen. I think it was just a bit of a culture shock that I wasn't expecting.

Miami airport is busy. There’s nothing wrong with it. There’s also good Cuban food there.

I’ve flown Miami a few times - it’s made zero impression on me - can’t be that bad. This other than the last time I was there there was a noticeable drug enforcement presence with dogs sniffing around.

I don't remember it being a big deal? I've flown in there all different times of year. The only thing I can recall was the year we went down there for Spring Break there were a ton of college kids and long lines. The rest of the year weren't a big deal.

The only time I flew through there, I was traveling by myself with two toddlers. I recall that the security people were rude and unhelpful and I got yelled at for taking too long. Don't recall much else. That was 13 years ago. On the way home, as I recall, my flight went through Orlando instead of Miami, and Orlando was awful. That made a much bigger impression on me. Somebody commented that the Orlando airport stands in direct contrast to WDW as the "Unhappiest Place on Earth."

As a vegetarian flying American I walked up and down the long terminal and had a hard time finding something to eat. I didn’t want a salad.

Haven't been there in years, but I recall having to go through security when we were just changing flights there! That's all I remember. I've never had to do that anywhere else
