I never post controversy but geez I thought she was, well, "disliked."
Nancy was on last year.
I don't think I've ever watched it, the info just showed up online but I remember her and although she got off pretty easily, I think a lot of people won't forget her.

Yep. It is all athletes this season. I don't get why Tanya is on there, except for the publicity from recent movie.

She has more name recognition than a lot of other “stars” on that show, I never watch, but I do like to check who is going to be on each season and most of the time I have to look up about half of the contestants.

She is working her second 15 minutes of fame really hard IMHO. I've never been a fan.

I've never seen the show, though the commercials have been playing. I've only half paid attention to them, and don't know who some of them are. But I was also surprised to see her in it. Does anyone else think that Adam Rippon will probably win?

Tonya is relentless about keeping herself in the media's notice. And everywhere she goes trash exudes from her.

I was wondering if we had a DWTS new cast thread? It's been out for a couple weeks? Yea, I wasn't too shocked she was picked. They like an age range. At least it wasn't Caitlyn Jenner like rumored. Yep, all athletes, and short season. Most of the really big name pro's aren't back. They are using more of the back up dancers like Alan and Jenna.

DWTS has had plenty of controversial stars. Ryan Lochte, Paula Deen etc. If people don't want to see her, she won't get votes and she will be gone fast.
I hate the short season! How are any of them supposed to have time to learn anything? I have waited patiently for the new season, I deserve a full season!

I would have preferred Caitlyn Jenner vs Trashy Tonya. (Not that I watch the show.)

I just watched I, Tonya last week. I have no idea how much of it was true and how much was the writer/director's slant, but I definitely felt a bit more sympathetic towards Tonya after watching it.

The tide has turned. Everyone I know who watched the story is on Tonya's side because she had a hard life. I couldn't believe it. But I just watched the movie on Sunday and I have to say I have some sympathy too and could possibly be swayed to believe she didn't know about the attack.
In the movie Tonya's character made a bad joke that if Nancy was hurt so badly, how did she start skating the next day? I think her point was while Nancy was clearly hurt, but the level of pain on her face made you think she would be severely injured for months. While Tonya was being beat on a regular basis by her mother and then husband so she didn't have sympathy.

I agree, and I was never a fan of hers. However, if even 1/4 of what happened in the movie was true, it really goes to show that it's often very hard to escape the circumstances you are born into. Watching the movie also reminded me how very young she was at the time the incident occured.

Sometimes I think it’s a name recognistion.. I don’t watch it either or I’ll just watch the first part to see who is.. I didn’t realize this time it’s all athletes.

This is the truly the first season I have no interest in. Tanya Harding would be the ONLY reason I would consider it. But I am not going to tune in to give her air time. Really sick of the poor me attitude she has and her 15 minutes of fame that happens about 15 minutes every year.
I know a lot of people don't like Nancy either but for the most part she has moved on and lived her life.. other than doing DWTS and maybe a few other little things, she doesn't live to tell her story.. she moved on. Tanya should too.
