We have 5000 plus women in Peas and lots of you have very interesting jobs be them volunteering or paid work. Tell us what you do but leave out any personal details or stuff you don’t want to share. Stories are great, too. If you can, share with us what you do for a living or how to keep your lives filled with enrichment.
I worked for a bank until I got a death threat and was too scared to work as a teller any longer. (Police brought in, questioning, caught the guy, we were scared). It was a long time ago but he said how will you like being murdered tonight? I would rather have had a hold up. I lasted 3 months.
After graduation from university I went to Japan and taught English for this terrible school. The head teacher was this idiot from Australia and she started slapping us around. That didn't go over well. It was kind of funny because the day I quit I caused utter chaos to them. They called me that night saying "We will take you back, no repercussions, no problems, no nothing." Yeah no. ARM was a real treat to deal with. Causing chaos was fun though. All the teachers quit and she was mad. She was in charge of 3 schools and she lost every single teacher. She told my co-teacher that if I ever tried to get back into Japan I wouldn't get in. Oh I was shaking in my boots. Get real. I speak Japanese fluently. I had amazing connections and I called on one of them in case I had trouble. Next time I tried to get into Japan was the smoothest time ever. EVER. They rolled out the red carpet to me and said "Welcome Home, Elannah san". I wasn't so scared.
I had this contract with a school to set up their kids' program and budget was unlimited. It was a weird thing. I got cash to teach a class and then the head teacher called me and said WE NEED YOU! Design a curriculum and we will pay. Anything goes. I learned a lot about teaching then.
A parent who came to a demo class with her daughter got my number and said "I have some friends and I want to set up a school." Well this is what my goal was as well! It was a 5 year plan and I put it into action in 3 months. I had to set up the curriculum and do all the teaching for about 200 students of lots of age ranges and abilities. Some were little kids. I taught pharmacists and nurses at Red Cross Blood Centre. That was really a lot of fun. I did that for a few years and i was sick of Japan so I came home. One thing about the school was she did all the work and I did the teaching. She said it was to justify her salary (she was an ex elementary teacher). We became BFFs and one day she said to me, "I have to leave you. I have to go take care of my husband's family in the sticks and I can't do this any longer." I offered her more money. I offered her anything I mean she was my BFF and lifeline. Everything I had was because of her! She had responsibilities and that was the end of her help. I was so heartbroken after that. I mean it was fun. We made great money but it was fun. Everyone would ask me how is Takei sensei and I was I wish I knew.
I worked for the provincial government and they were downsizing by 30% so I got transferred to a lot of ministries (departments). I was in Health Services, Health Planning, Environment (Mushroom and Earth Wind and Fire), Human Resources, Family Maintenance, Forests, and that might be it?
Then I sold ladies clothing for a couple of years and that was fun. Expensive but fun. They ended up going out of business due to their own stupidity. They had a niche market and they had a gold mine but they were stupid. I see my old customers all the time and get hugs. I miss them a lot.

i do real estate administration, database and marketing work. i like the admin and database but often dislike the marketing. i find the pressure to be creative and artistic challenging and i am not a social media guru. meanwhile, that is the one part of my job that allows me to write (newsletters, email blasts, etc) and that i find the most fulfilling.
i am self-employed and have spent the last year and a half(ish) working for one amazing agent with some piece work for another agent. i am just starting up with a third agent who is *super* busy so am looking forward to ramping up my business (while completely overwhelmed because she lives in another area so her board has different technology and systems for everything - huge leaning curve but more to put on my resume!!).

I spend 2-4 mornings a week working at a drop-in day care at my gym (free membership!). Whenever I'm not working at the gym, I'm available to deliver flowers for my neighbor's online floral shop. The unpredictability gets old once in awhile, but I make pretty good money when I do have deliveries. I need a "real" job, but I honestly have no idea what I want or can do. Otherwise the rest of my time seems to be driving my 13 & 10yo boys around to their various school and sport activities.

I work in the dairy department of a Wegmans grocery store. I tell everyone I'm the Dairy Queen!! Haha!
I also work as an assistant in an after school program at the YMCA. We have 39 kindergarten-4th graders. My small group consists of 10 kindergarteners.
In my free time I love to tent camp, read, watch movies, travel and go on nature hikes.

I'm a SAHM. When I had a career I was a recruiter/hr manager and hated it. Before that I was a retail manager for many years. HATED IT! I wanted to be a psychologist and wish I'd pursued it more.

Apparently I’m a busybody! I just saw this on fb on one of those “texting to the wrong number posts” and it’s me to a T! 😂 Once upon a time I was a banker. Teller, customer service, branch manager. I’ve been a SAHM for almost 20 years and recently started working from home working for my bff. I’m learning all kinds of new things, like editing and website building. I love my job but truth be told, I’m in over my head right now. But I’m learning to swim! I don’t know if anyone knows about DISC personality assessment. I recently took the DISC assessment and it pretty much said what I already knew. Mine is S/I. I love people, love to affirm and be affirmed, and I am a much better in a support role than as leader. I will never be a mover and shaker but I love helping my friend who is.

I'm a school trustee... Is that they are called in the USA, too? I'm an elected member of the local Board of Education. Each school district elects their own board. We oversee the budget, policy, etc. The staff (superintendent, assistants, principals, teachers, etc) do the day to day operations.
We were elected for a 4 year term in 2014. Next election is October 20th and the campaign starts in September. We do short campaigns for municipal politics here, at least in the formal sense. We can start raising funds January 1 of the calendar year of the election, but no signs allowed until about 6 weeks prior to the vote.
I am going to put my name forward for reelection. I've heard good things about my chances & I'm just trying not to listen to that stuff too much. Last thing I want to do is go into the campaign overconfident.

I work at a family-owned restaurant 3-4 days a week. It’s frustrating and fun at the same time, because I work with (among others) my kids, Mom, brother, and various nieces/nephews. I also design scrapbook paper (digitally, and for various paper companies) from home. We are in the middle of a whole-house renovation. We started it when we moved into this house about 18 months ago, and since it’s DIY, I expect it will take us another 2-3 years to finish. And I have 4 kids.

I'll play along
I started out working in banks (teller), moved to a major mortgage servicing company doing customer service after ds was born. after working escalated complaints realizing I was doing what the paralegals in the legal dept did, after that company laid me off (they went out of business) I got my paralegal certificate, went to work with another mortgage company and ended up in compliance. When company 2 laid me off, I joined a law firm that advises mortgage companies on compliance, and creates mortgage packages for lenders, and have been doing research and spend my days searching for and researching new laws that affect the mortgage business.
Since we are a small firm, I wear many hats, I do a lot of administrative things in addition to the legal research I do.

I work for the county assessor. I used to be at an Optometrist's office and was basically an optician without the title. On the side I have an Etsy shop where I sell digital designs and I also occasionally do photo shoots.
