so please share your wonderful meal so we can live vicariously through you We ate at a restaurant called Lucky 32 in Greensboro, NC and it featured creative southern cuisine. We started with the seasonal dips appetizer which came with three dips (pureed white beans, salmon, and mixed spring berries that were a bit pickled along with crostini. For an entree, I chose Suffolk Chicken which was a grilled breast over a fried grit cake topped with country ham cream sauce and a side of pinto beans with chow-chow. He had a rib-eye with onion straws and the grit cake/gravy combo. For dessert, we shared an Affrogato which was vanilla ice cream with sea salt caramel sauce and a shot of espresso to pour over it all. It was all really good. We ate outside on the patio under a canopy of wisteria in bloom - that was my favorite part! That all sounds delicious! Went and looked at their menu and I love, love that it is not the same old thing you can find everywhere. The slow roasted pork belly with strawberry chutney has me hungry for dinner! What kind of search do you do? Just pull it up for an area and see what sounds good? Or are there parameters you use? I don't think I've ever used open table, and trip advisor recommendations often don't pan out for us. I like Zagat, but they don't give detailed reviews for lots of places and don't even cover the smaller towns I frequent.

The slow roasted pork belly with strawberry chutney has me hungry for dinner! That was my other choice! I had a hard time deciding which to order. Open Table generally has "better" restaurants in my opinion without all the chain options mixed in. So if a restaurant shows up on their app, I consider that a plus. Other than that, we use two things to help decide -- first pull up the menu and read through it and then second quickly peruse the reviews just to see if there's a trend to positive or negative. If we have a good feeling about it, we usually take a chance!

Just showed menu to DH and we're wondering how far from Texas to NC Was hoping there was a sister restaurant near Louisville, KY where we'll be next year. But no joy. Bummer.

Was hoping there was a sister restaurant near Louisville, KY where we'll be next year. I don't know about Louisville, but we ate in Lexington when we toured two bourbon distilleries a year or so ago. I can recommend a great restaurant there and one in Frankfort if you'll be branching out from Louisville.

We consider ourselves foodies, and we do check reviews and such. However even I would be upset if I or dh acted like that every day. You have my permission to get hangry with him the next time he does it. 😉

If we do I will definitely take you up on it.
