We are renting a VRBO home that has a gourmet kitchen and has a "wide variety of spices, oils, vinegar, butter, eggs" etc. I usually pack that sort of stuff or buy it there. DD thinks I'm crazy and should use what is there. What say the Peas? Trying a poll for first time, so hope it works.

I’d bring my own stuff, but if I forget something I’d probably use from those available.

I answered based on what we do when we go to villas for our holidays in Portugal etc. I wouldn’t eat eggs...butter maybe...condiments sure.

If I can get a decent assessment of what is there, in that it appears to be fresh and used often, especially if reviewers mention it specifically, then usually yes. I have definitely done it when I know I am actually home sharing and the owner uses the rental for their own personal use at times. But I have also seen provided condiments, oils and such that definitely appear to have been abandoned and just there for show. If it is important to me and I am suspicious of the quality, I will pack it or buy it there.

The butter and eggs is weird IMO. I've never seen that type of thing in a VRBO. I'll use the spices - salt, pepper, garlic powder type thing. But that's about it.

I don't. I always make up my own spice mixes when we rent out a cottage or home. I might use things in a pinch, but most likely not.

The airbnb we rented in Maine had a quart of milk, coffee cream, a stick of butter, and eggs. The owner told me she bought them fresh for each renter (she only rented by the week). She also had spices and coffee. No condiments. I thought it was nice of her to provide, and I used it.

In some of the fancier vrbo places they have been quite stocked to include eggs, milk and butter. On perishables I would check the date. If something looks fairly new, I use it. I also travel with some spices because many times I've been caught with nothing.

Wow, we've never had any of those provided when we've used VRBO. Maybe some salt and pepper left behind from other renters (which we have used). I'd probably use spices and oils but that's it.

I've only rented two airbnb places-one in Poland and one in Munich, Germany. The one in Poland was pretty much bare and you could tell it was a fairly new rental place. The one in Munich I was packed with things (I think the owner lived there occasionally but had his stuff packed out of the way) so the kitchen was well stocked, even with booze. I only used what he suggested I use since I was new to this-renting airbnb's I only felt comfortable doing that-so that was the coffee and sugar.
Still I was there 4 days, there wasn't much coffee left and I replaced it with a small bag of coffee before I left since I used it up. Mostly because I felt bad that I'd ruined an old skillet of his leaving it on the burner (yikes!) which I confessed to and we agreed to a sum for me to replace it. He gave me a great review though.

I’ll use spices and coffee but draw the line at anything from the refrigerator unless it’s sealed and unexpired.
As a VRBO owner, we instruct our cleaning crew to get rid of everything except the coffee, tea, sugar and salt/pepper we provide for guests. I don’t want the liability of a guest potentially ingesting something that makes them sick.

I would never use those because freshness is not guaranteed Yes, and many reviews mention coffee, cream, sugar, orange juice, milk, fruit and a couple even mentioned bread! She is relatively new to VRBO and has really catered to her clientele (i.e. -late arrivals and all set for breakfast, etc.) The reviews are fantastic. I'm excited to check it all out. FTR, I will pack my own spices/mixes, take my own EVOO, vinegar, sugar. The rest I will buy there. AND I have my new flip flops for the shower. DD truly thinks I am nuts.

Idk I don't go on vacation to cook. Ha, that's me too really. We have snacks and easy breakfast items only when we rent VRBO. Last summer I thought I'd make myself an egg white omelette a couple of mornings instead of eating a bagel. I only made an omelette once! I just do not want to cook on vacation. We enjoy eating out and I want to relax, not do the same stuff as at home.

Vinegar probably. Butter and eggs no. We use olive oil to cook everything so I would pick a small bottle up at the grocery store. Spices probably not, unless they looked pretty new... spices lose their flavor after a period of time so if they are old then I probably wouldn't want to use them, but I try to plan meals that don't require a lot of powdered/jarred spices so that I don't have to worry about it.

We don't do much cooking on vacation, but I have used salt, pepper, coffee, and some spices on occasion. I would use vinegar or oil if they looked/smelled okay. I would not use anything perishable/from the refrigerator.

Unless I know that the eggs and butter were fresh I wouldn't use them. I would use spices olive oil etc.
I wish more would stock non perishables like basic spices etc.

I’ve used things like tea, coffee, sweetener packets, spices, cooking oil, Pam, foil, and plastic wrap. I haven’t used perishable items, but if a fresh items were provided for my stay, I would probably use them

Idk I don't go on vacation to cook. this. I don't think I've ever cooked while on vacation. If we’re staying somewhere for a week, I don’t want to eat out every single meal. We usually have breakfasts at the rental house and I might cook a couple of simple dinners. It was actually really fun in Paris to go to the grocery and shop the unfamiliar versions of foods.

It was actually really fun in Paris to go to the grocery and shop the unfamiliar versions of foods. Eating out is just my lifestyle, I think. It would probably be different if I had a family, but if it's just me and my guy or me and a friend, we're definitely eating out. I love cooking, but it just isn't something I would want to do on vacation, except maybe for a cooking class perhaps. I would rather be out wandering and looking for the next best place to grab a bite.

The ones we’ve gone to have only had the most minimal stuff so we’re used to bringing our own. I would use the salt and pepper but that’s about it. Maybe Pam cooking spray in a can.

We used air bnb in Maui and we used what was provided, even beyond the basic spices - some local beer, Hawaiian jam and cold soda. There was an explanation of what was left and why. We paid it forward - we didn't use everything we bought so we left some liquor, another type of local jam and some flavored waters.
When we have used VRBO at the beach, only the very basics are provided - salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, etc. When we've used it in other locations like at a ski resort or a remote recreation area in West Virginia, they have provided a lot more (keurig pods, popcorn kernels, etc.) and it always seems to make sense based on where the property is located, what you are likely to have brought with you and what types of stores are in the immediate area.

If the items look relatively current then I'll use spices, herbs, oil, and vinegar. While traveling we tend to eat yogurt, granola, and fruit for breakfast, a big meal at a restaurant for lunch, then an "apéro dinatoire" style dinner that basically ends up being open face sandwiches with pickles and other veggies. I don't feel like I am cooking a ton but we're saving money not paying dinner restaurant prices for our food.
