I had read they were going to knock them down to ten episodes each, so I’m happy with twelve!

There is a whole lot that will be on that editing floor! To be fair, Fiery Cross was long af!!!

I thought you meant twelve episodes total for BOTH seasons, so I'm thrilled to read the article and find out I was wrong. Looking forward to the new season!

There is a whole lot that will be on that editing floor! To be fair, Fiery Cross was long af!!! The Fiery Cross was not my favorite, but A Breath of Snow and Ashes was one of them. I rewatched the first season and I kept thinking how much better it was because it was 16 episodes. I. think a lot of the front end would have been cut. So I’ll just remain grateful that the first season was the longest.

I'm so excited that they are renewing Outlander for seasons 5&6. ("The Fiery Cross" and "A Breath of Snow and Ashes") that I honestly don't mind the delay or the fact that they've limited each season to 12 episodes. I trust those behind production to know what they are doing to bring us amazing seasons and I'm so grateful that we've got seasons 5&6 coming to us. Yes, Droughtlander sucks. But in the meantime we can always rewatch seasons 1-3 or read-reread the books as the case may be. I myself have read all of the books once, and since I have a terrible memory don't remember all of the details (just the basic story line) through much of them. For myself I made the decision not to read each one before each season because I'd spend too much time comparing the book to the show. Although when I need a book to take with me on my month long trip to Europe last year I chose "Voyager" to take with me. I needed something I knew was good so that is the one book I chose. I don't have an ereader, so I wanted to pick one I knew I'd be interested in reading. Anyway, that's the only one I've reread.

You really got the nuances of the announcement! I noticed the number of episode drops right away. I was so hoping they would do MORE episodes, not less! It's such a hit show and so expensive--you would think that they would want to do more episodes with the same basic costumes and sets. I wonder if the actors are doing other things? I know UK actors are more likely to work on more than just one show--maybe they just didn't want the commitment? As for Series 3 in November--that seems soon to me. Didn't we wait almost a year between 2 & 3? So I'm not fussed about that. But how exciting that they are going to season 6! Diana better get to writing or they are going to catch up with her and it will be like Game of Thrones. I think Book 9 is projected to come out in 2019. She put out 2 excerpts from #9 last week and said it was no where near done. It takes her 2-4 years for each book lately, so that puts Book 10 somewhere around 2021-22 ish.

The November date does seem odd to me only because there will be some major holidays in there, but if you are renewed for 2 more seasons I suppose the powers that Be are not concerned about ratings. Season 3 premiered in September and I really can’t remember how long we waited, but maybe 16 months-pretty sure this is shorter. I could have sworn that they were speculating that it would be September again this year. Again, I don’t recall any confirmation, but maybe it was a tweet from Maril or Ron that indicated September. But 2 months isn’t that long in the scheme of things. I would be curious to hear why they reduced it by 1. I know Sam has a movie coming out this summer. I’m sure there will be some Q& A that addresses it. birukitty I was not going to reread Drums of Autumn, but one of the podcasters is doing a read along and doing a couple chapters a week. I find that I’m getting much more enjoyment out of the book this way. There are things they discuss that make me appreciate the book much more than my first reading.

If forgotten that S3 premiered in September. I was thinking December. Time flies! I agree with the holiday conflicts. I wonder if we’ve gotten to the point now where the powers that be don’t worry about that as much anymore, since it’s all available online now. I noticed that several network shows ran in December and January for this season. I’m hoping it’s not on Sundays anymore—DH gets up for work at 4:30am, so we had to watch it Sunday afternoon on the app or wait until the week. We have 8 big windows plus a slider in our family room, which has the only TV. It’s hard to see in the daytime, plus wedon’t care to watch tv during the day. And it just seems like a nighttime show! Are you listening to Summer and Ginger or Blake? I’m inbetween eye surgeries now and have considered listening to one of the podcasts. I know you like Summer and Ginger, but I much preferred Mary and Blake’s podcast of the show.

I just like they are much more invested in the books and not afraid about saying things that could be spoilers. And Blake’s accent gets on my nerves-lol. I listened to an old one where Summer and Ginger hosted Mary and Blake and the The Scot and the Sassenach and I still just really miss that podcast. Nothing has taken their place. I loved their experience they brought to the table.

I really wish they could have kept it going. I lived in Boston, so I like Blake’s accent. And I find Mary to be genuine and a gentle critic.
