I have the ranger brayer. In most videos I watched everyone is using a speed ball? Brand one? Is that a better one ? Does it work better for picking up ink?

I can't imagine a ranger one not being good. I have a speedball but it is over 20 years old and the only one available at the time. If you already have the ranger I would just try it and see if your results are similar to what you are seeing in the videos. Have fun I haven't played with ink with my brayer in more than a decade I use it to press paper together to make sure adhesive is firmly set. I need to try some ink techniques with it.

Ranger products are usually pretty good. Try it out and see how it does. I have the old Speedball one as well. It has removable brayers so I have the hard rubber one as well as an acrylic one and one made of some sort of foam rubber. I used to use the rubber one to apply ink to really big background stamps but never used the other two. I'm glad you posted this because now I think I might want to try out those other brayers and see what kind of texture I can get.
