www.atlasobscura.com/articles/what-the-templar-knights-ate?..........The Knights Templar, then, must have seemed to have some magical potion: Many members of this Catholic military order lived long past 60. And even then, they often died at the hands of their enemies, rather than from illness. ..........On Sundays, everyone ate meat, with higher-up members permitted both lunch and dinner with some kind of roast animal ....But on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, the knights ate more spartan, vegetable-filled meals. Interesting, IMO.

Hmmm...sounds a lot like the Keto diet.
Have you seen The Magic Pill? I just watched it the other night...pretty interesting, especially the bit on breast cancer about half way in!

(^^^geeky Indiana Jones movie reference, lol)

It was interesting. Although I wouldn't overlook the handwashing and other nods to hygiene. That was pretty novel stuff in that day.

That was an interesting article.
I wonder if the fact that they didn't do anything excessively helped a bit. My grandma always said that doing all things in moderation was the key to happiness and longevity. Of course, she liked her Italian pastry...

I have been intermittent fasting for 11 months and eating a keto like diet (more veggies than meat). I have seen and felt tremendous changes in my body. I whole heartedly agree that fat is not the enemy...sugar is. My medical oncologist also gave me the go ahead to do it while on chemo. He thinks it is an excellent way to live.
