I belong to this group on Facebook for my area and we are all women. There is this one gal in there who has posted in the past "is anyone going to the supermarket because I have two little kids and no car". I replied when I got this message that I was and what did she need? That is how I first "met" her.
Today I woke up and had this message in my Facebook Messenger "Heeeey! Sooo remember when you said if i needed anything to not hesitate to ask? Well this is very forward and you can obviously say no with zero hard feelings but I was wondering if you were bored this morning and potentially felt like taking me to the food bank? Haha yea it's a big favour..."
I honestly had nothing to do today that was of any importance. I want to say I was compelled to do this. It wasn't a choice but I knew I had to. I also know some people who are we will say involved in their faith. I went to them and asked them is there any way we can get them "stuff" to survive or money. The husband who is an elder in the faith said he would take care of it.
I would say today was a really wonderful day. I met a new friend (her 3 year old son...we shake hands and are now friends!) and yeah it was pretty cool.
I swear Virginia told me to do this! LOL

It was a blessing for both of you! I got a lot out of it for sure. She got groceries but I got an introduction to life. Plus he son who is afraid of everyone wanted to hold my hand and she kept saying "he doesn't warm up to people very often". He was so adorable!

Maybe the food bank is a place that you might fit in nicely for volunteering?

What a wonderfully kind thing to do, I agree that the doer/giver gets just as much in return.

Maybe the food bank is a place that you might fit in nicely for volunteering? I might have to volunteer there. It was really sobering for sure. It wasn't busy for some reason which was interesting. I had no idea what to expect nor knew how things worked. We were waiting around for a while and I asked her "Forgive me for this question but what are we waiting for?" and her answer was "they fill a box of food based on what you ask for, then they pick it and call your number." Of course. I mean doh but I never knew where this place even existed. I was sitting down and this woman who has to be pregnant with her 4th child I say to her "would you like to sit down?" and she was "No the kids will run around and terrorize everyone in here. I am better off standing". The kids could have sat, too as there were seats. She really needed to be off her feet but wouldn't sit down. I saw the size box of groceries my friend was given and the lady with 3 kids I hope got tons more than that. I have to do something now. I will see if they are looking for a volunteer. There were lots of people working there to get food to the clients.

How sweet of you, Elannah. I'm not surprised you benefited from it, too.
