I am slowly trying to redo my living room. I currently have 2 chairs that I love and are a taupe-canvas-beige neutral color. I have a coffee table and end tables that are a stained a warm color. The stain is similar to this table at World Market - www.worldmarket.com/product/small-mahogany-chloe-accent-table.do?sortby=ourPicksAscend&from=fnMy walls are a greige with white trim. I need help with colors for a couch. I have cool toned chairs and walls but warm wood tables. I also have a golden colored dog that sheds a TON and loves to lay on the couch. I was thinking of getting a couch from Ikea with a white slipcover. Does that sound okay? Any other suggestions on couch colors?

How often do you intend to pull the slipcover off and wash it? A white slipcover and dog hair seems like asking for a maintenance nightmare. If you're going to continue to allow the dog on the sofa, I'd find a golden colored sofa.

If you go with a white slipcover, you might want to purchase a second one to use while one of them is being laundered. Do you plan to have any color in the room at all? Maybe with pillows or a pretty blanket? I would drape a blanket in whatever your accent color is across one side of the couch to encourage the dog to remain on the blanket. I'm fortunate in that my animals will always choose wherever I have put a blanket or rug for them instead of laying on my leather furniture. You might want to consider a leather couch since they are so very easy to take care of, especially with pets. My dog doesn't shed, but the cat does and I can wipe the couches down in a few seconds in between vacuuming.

i think the color of your couch needs to be "golden colored."
i don't think a white couch sounds like a great idea for someone whose dog "sheds a TON."

Speaking as someone who has the Ektorp corner sofa with the white slipcovers and a dog, unless you are someone who is REALLY wedded to the aesthetics of white slipcovers, I would steer you away.
People say "Oh, I just pop my white slipcovers into the wash, easy peasy" but the reality is it is NOT an easy job to remove and launder the slipcovers. It's time-consuming especially with the corner sofa because unless you go to a commercial laundry, it takes us three loads to wash them all. You can't really dry them in the dryer because they'll shrink and you'll have a devil of a time getting them back on. So then you've got a bunch of slipcovers hanging all over your deck and you're praying it doesn't rain. Seriously, we plan our slipcover washing around the 10-day forecast, LOL. Then it takes all three of us to put them back on.
This time of year, that I lovingly refer to as "mud season" in Connecticut, I have a bunch of beach towels draped over the slipcovers, because it's just a messy time of year.
I'd go with a neutral color and add color and interest with throw pillows and other accessories.

I think the sofa you've picked would be perfect. Not too warm-coloured and not too cool. It will tie all the colours in nicely.
