I just have to share a dress I got today... it's super comfortable and flattering on. Boden Willa Jersey Dress. It comes in a few colors (I got the red apple pattern) and is on sale. I absolutely love it. If you're looking for a polished-casual but easy-to-wear dress for the summer, I'd definitely recommend it.

I left my house at 10:30 to hit the outlets near my house armed with my GYPO summer list. My first stop was J Crew Factory and I thought I’d get the bulk of items there, but I kind of struck out. They didn’t carry many of the things that were online. I had better luck at the Banana Republic Factory.
I still came home with several bags-some nice Memorial Day sales were really good. Couldn’t resist some non GYPO items. I plan to do the rest online.

Sorry not a good photo! We are headed down to Big Sur - right now wearing new linen top from Anthropologie, my old yellow j crew shorts and my Rothys flats.

They did not have my size in the tropical shorts. I think those are the things I didn’t get and will have to order online (although I’m probably passing on the skirt, but I would have liked to have tried it on). I did find the gingham sandals which are sold out online.

Here’s my haul from today. Before I went I shopped my closet so I did not need black top, gray top, denim skirt, white shorts, black dress, kimono, denim jacket, metallic sandal, neutral wedge, sneakers, long necklace, short necklace, multi color earrings, & round bag. JCF shirt, shorts and top from Banana Republic. I prefer the pattern on the j crew shorts, but they were out of my size and these are 1 inch longer which I prefer. The navy shoes were super cheap and comfy and I tend to gravitate toward navy. The glasses were super cheap-the readers $3. Did not need the kimono, but again-navy is my kryptonite. These are more my style and totally couldn’t resist.

I went shopping today for some of the items on the list but I failed miserably. Scalloped hems and gingham are not trending in the U.K. right now so I didn’t see any of that. Plenty of really bright and tacky tassel earrings so I decided not to bother with them. I saw a round straw bag but it would have been difficult to pull my wallet out of it as it didn’t open very wide. I saw some fun bags but I really have enough bags in my closet already. I bought raspberry suede walking sandals for vacation, new pajamas, a loose blue shirt, a black tank, and 3 bras!!

I need to go try on a kimono. I'm just not so sure that it will be flattering on a short, 50s woman. I was at dinner Thursday with a group of friends and 2 had long kimonos on. I guess they are out of my comfort zone.

I spent the day shopping today. Picked up everything I needed, except a printed top. I just didnt find any I love. Debating if I just want to suck it up and pick up the Old Navy one linked from the recommended link page. I also wanted some gingham shoes and didn't find any. Going to check Dillards when I get home (thinking maybe the yellow box ones? ).

But when I tried it on, I liked it much better. It’s a very flattering cut. And I think that when it is styled, it will look even better.

Thanks but I’m in the U.K. - there’s no J Crew factory store. In fact I think there may only be a JCrew store in London and it’s insanely expensive.

It was sold out at the store I went to in grapevine but will try my home ON when I get back home.

I'll save you the pictures from yesterday at the beach during the day. I learned... - sand doesn't get stuck in yiur swimsuit of you don't wear one. - my birthday suit is saggy, stretched out and wrinkly but I'm not the only one! Last night we went to a flamenco show in Barcelona. total tourist trap, but it was a fun, casual night. packed basics, thankfully the wrinkles fell out before I got there. (of my shirt, sadly not my birthday suit)

Super cute Steph...love those colors together!
I went to Macy's today intending to find a patterned shirt and maybe bottoms, but struck out. I ended up with a navy shirt and new pair of jeans...neither of which are on the shopping list. :-)

Cute color combo Steph, and I really love your layered necklaces.
After a lot of procrastination, I finally signed up for the summer challenge. I can’t say I love all of the pieces, but I have most of the basics already. I went shopping for patterned bottoms, but didn’t find anything I liked. I usually wear solid bottoms to distract attention from the junk in my trunk, so I’m not sure if I’m going to get on board with the entire capsule.

This is what I wore on Friday. DH & I both took a vacation day and spent the day together. I took the photo before I put my jewelry on. Saturday's outfit (next post) has the same jewelry as Friday.

Here's today's work outfit. I'm still working on the best way to get a decent selfie. Before I left the house, I grabbed a short-sleeve open knit cardigan, but didn't get a picture.

Love this. May I ask where you got it? I am looking for a dress to wear to my son’s leadership school graduation next month and I’m striking out. I got a plain navy colored dress in my trunk this month that I can use and try and dress up with jewelry, but I want something more fun. In my stitch fix I asked for dresses, but it doesn’t come until mid June which is cutting it close to the date of the ceremony.

You can always flip things around. If she calls for printed shorts, wear a printed top with solid bottoms. I'm sure we'll see quite a few folks do that. I bought gingham capris, but I don't think I'll end up with any other printed bottom, I just haven't seen anything in that style that's a "heck yes" for me yet.

Hope you all had a great long weekend! We had a great one. I got burned to a crisp on my chest and arms. Didn’t really realize I was getting so much sun as it wasn’t really “hot”. Didn’t reapply enough sunscreen. Anyway, it’s breezy and cool today and I have flipping goosebumps already! I haven’t even left the house. My meat locker at work should be great! Attachments:
