In all seriousness since the demise of scrapbook magazines, etc. I honestly couldn't tell you what is "trendy" in the crafty/scrapbooking world. I wouldn't call myself a trendy scrapper, but then how do I really know lol?

To some extent, you can still see online examples, whether Facebook sites for LSS, or manufacturers' design teams.
I've never cared whether or not I was trendy, except when I had to design projects for a class I wanted to teach at the LSS. They closed, and I moved to an area where all 3 LSS are too far to be convenient. I have zero concern about whether or not I am trendy. Chances are pretty high that I am not even close to being trendy. I'm free to scrap however I want.

I think looking at the kit club offerings gives a good sense too of what is trendy. Things like cork embellishments, various color schemes and motifs tend to recur across manufacturers and different companies race to offer the latest and greatest to stay fresh and attract subscribers.

Well first of all, if it says Paper Pizazz it is not trendy. If it says Hot off the Press it is not trendy.
If it is a gingham triangle it is not trendy.
Right now I notice the newest things are bright, almost florescent colors, like bright pink, orange and yellow, aqua and navy blue, leaf green, red, but all together in one collection, like a rainbow theme. I'm not really feeling any of those combos right now because the photos I have to scrap are not going to work even story wise with those. But if they were all that was left in the universe, I would make it work.

I think trendy is the current item(s) that show up everywhere at any given time.
I don't worry about being trendy, if I like it & it works on my project, I use it.

When most of the magazines folded the first thing I thought was that we would no longer be directed on how to scrap and what products we must have. We could just develop our own styles. I’m the first to admit I was swayed by trends especially at first, but after realizing that some were a bad fit for me I started just doing what I wanted.
For new trends I count on the Peas. There’s a lot of talk about new products and some Peas kindly post new mfg. releases. I check galleries and blogs as well, But really, the world isn’t looking at my layouts anyway and friends and family don’t scrap so they don’t know what the latest and greatest is so I just have fun and do what I like.

Most of my inspiration comes from Instagram. That's where I keep up on trends. I won't follow stars, stores or companies. I like to follow that unique twenty-five year old for trends. Foreign IG's are the best for trendy. I love anything from Russia, Latin America & France. I don't consider myself too trendy either. I do like trends. I love llama's so when llama craze came out I am all over that. Nobody is more excited about unicorns than me, lol. I love classic trends. I really need to find IG's that are my style. I loved my Scrapbook magazines. I miss them soooo much. I would also look at those LO's and think "That is never, ever, never, ever, ever something I would do." Instagram I get so excited when I see somebody do a LO of their Nintendo and cat. That is my inspiration happiness.

I notice what is for sale. Right now themes are coffee, little pudgy animals, etc. But I don't follow trends. It isn't going to matter in years to come what was popular now or not in my scrapbooks. No one looking at them will know the difference. I use what speaks to me, old or new!

Do what makes you happy. I don't buy things that I don't like or need just because they may be popular. Buy stuff that works with your lifestyle
