I love this idea, particularly the slightly bigger boxes for the regular ephemera & diecuts. Having the journal spots and labels separate but stored the same way just makes sense!! TFS!!

I have so been toying with the idea of sorting all my embellishments by color instead of by collection, and I keep chickening out. It looks really HANDY, but also so irreversible! You have guts!

I keep my collections together, but extra pieces that really don't have a home go in 5 x 7 boxes. I arrange by color.

I do something similar but I use DVD cases for each color. I don't have a lot of embellishments/labels/die cuts. But it sure does make it easy to find "something red and maybe round for this corner over here" when I'm scrapping!

I keep my collections together, but extra pieces that really don't have a home go in 5 x 7 boxes. I arrange by color. That is what I do, too. Once I have pretty much used a collection, I cut apart all the pieces and they go in my "by color" storage. I find I use all the bits and pieces much more. Also, if I see things in those boxes that have been there forever, I pitch them, because it's obvious I will never use them.

It took me a long time to commit to this. LOL But in reality, its how my brain works. When I am making a page, I don't think 'I need a Pebbles balloon' - I think 'I need a blue balloon'. So I go to my blue box. FWIW, I could never do this to my papers. I only store those by manufacturer, because thats how I think about them in my head. Now, to be totally transparent, I did leave out any Christmas embellishments (those all go in my box with Christmas themed stuff). SaveSave

Part of the reason my boxes are so full is because I had die-cuts stored everywhere and never knew what I had.I can look now and see that I dont need any more red embellishments for awhile. SaveSave

I store my labels and journaling spots separately but other than that this is exactly how I store those pieces. I’ve used so , many pieces I thought I’d have forever just because I keep them like this. I also like that it’s clear which colours I need to work on using.

I was just getting ready to tackle my embellishment storage this weekend. I have some embellishments sorted by type, like chipboard with phrases or birds (I’m still going through my bird phase) bur the rest are just randomly stored in a couple of boxes. I love the idea of sorting most of them by color. I’m another one who keeps them with a collection until most are used, then releases the rest into the general population. Thanks for the tips and ideas.

I so desperately need to organize like this! Me too...that looks like an ideal way what I really want is enough space to have an ikea Alex unit with 1 drawer for each colour!!

I really should do something like this. I was doing my A-Z LO's this month and looking for some K&Co stickers I knew I had somewhere. My craft room is Expedit units with different sized boxes in the holes. I ended up finding the K&Co stickers in a 'soft embellishments' box which I hadn't even opened for years. I also went through a 'paper' box and a 'stickers' box and found things I had totally forgotten about cause I never went through those boxes. So I am going out today and I'm going to look for some storage to sort some of the things into colour boxes. Most things I do think in terms of manufacturer but it would be so handy to have a yellow box and a green box, that just had bits and bobs in. Sp thanks mom and @patter, you have inspired me

Michaels also carries that. It is $39.99 and you can often get a 50% coupon. I used the 5 x 7 storage for photos and the container holds 20, I think.

Yes, but this is a two pack--so two large containers and 32 photo cases.

mom, thanks for showing your containers. I just ordered a bunch from Joann. The 4x6 containers were a bit small for me. I think these will be the perfect size. For anyone looking they are on sale for $2.99 and free shipping.

I was just looking at the Michaels ad and they have a Recollections storage container similar to the one Patter linked above on sale for $15.99 this weekend. The storage container is clear but the inner containers are various colors. I'm going to Michaels today to check it out. I think this type of storage would work well for my embellishments, and I love that it's portable because I often go to crops.

I started separating my embellishments today. I have an entire plastic shoebox with pink and red. The neutrals filled an entire 12x12 studio calico bag and then some. I’m getting the 6”x6” containers but it won’t be enough. I told myself I wasn’t shopping anymore and then I checked out Kelly Purkeys sale. I didn’t buy anything but why would I do that after spending 5 hours sorting through embellishments.

If I didn't love it then I didn't keep it. And realistically, how many arrows, etc do I really need? Sure I could have kept them all but then I would not be able to get to the ones I did love. So I gave away a bunch and don't feel a bit guilty. SaveSave

My kid loves to grab at my stuff while I’m scrapbooking so I won’t be so sad anymore when she goes for it. I may take just a couple of handfuls and place them in the smaller boxes and use them for a while. Hopefully I can create a dent. I was overwhelmed by the mixed up embellishments so this should be better. I have an entire iris container of felicity jane embellishments too. I didn’t separate those. I unsubscribed because it was all adding up.
