My daughter leaves for a weekend sleep away camp tomorrow evening. It was a last minute decision so I'm just now buying things she needs. I have everything except for something she can tote her bathroom stuff in. Walmart didn't have anything and I've been searching online all morning and none of my usual suspects have anything in stock. I've looked at Walmart, Target, Ulta, Kohls, Academy, Sams and none have anything. BB&B and Container Store has them but are 20 miles away and I would like to avoid driving that far if necessary.
She doesn't need anything large or elaborate as she will just have her tooth paste/brush, one bottle of soap, and a shower pouf. I am leaving in a few to check out TJMaxx and Ross. Is there a store I am missing?

do you have any Dollar Stores (99 Cent, Dollar Tree, etc.) around? I can't believe Walmart didn't have anything. Did you look in the bathroom/home organization section rather than in the makeup / shampoo / toiletries section?
(I'm thinking about something 'open' that she can carry, not necessarily something that would zip up / stay closed.) You might be able to find something suitable at a thrift store, maybe, too...

You can find cheap small plastic totes in garden departments. They are meant for toting small garden tools but work great as camp shower caddies. I'd check any dollar general type of store in the garden section.

In the time you've been searching online "all morning," you could have driven the 20 miles and back.
I also agree it's unbelievable Walmart didn't have anything. I don't think you were looking in the right spots.

How old is your daughter? When we camp and I go to use the showers I just put all my stuff in a small backpack.
I can't believe Wal-Mart didn't have anything suitable.

Check the cleaning supply aisle for cleaning caddies. They are basically the same thing. You could also try searching for bath caddy for next day delivery at Walmart or Target.

I got DS them last year at the dollar tree & he threw it out at the end of the year instead of cleaning it or bringing it home.

A grocery tote would work.

I'm guessing perhaps some of the stores aren't listing everything online, or your search criteria isn't picking up on them. They're always available at our Target.

I just bought one yesterday at Target. It’s in the bathroom section, next to towels.

do you have any Dollar Stores (99 Cent, Dollar Tree, etc.) around? I can't believe Walmart didn't have anything. Did you look in the bathroom/home organization section rather than in the makeup / shampoo / toiletries section? I'm surprised too! I actually saw a handled tote in the hanger/closet section a couple of weeks back but nothing there today. Looked in the travel, closet, cleaning, home org, bathroom fittings, and bathroom decor sections. Nothing. Even when I simply searched for "caddy" or "tote" online and sorted by the two local Wal-Marts and the next town over, nothing appropriate came up. Not even large cleaning caddies! In the time you've been searching online "all morning," you could have driven the 20 miles and back. Thank you for your constructive criticism. I also had local errands, appointments, and a two year old's schedule to contend with so online searching in between those things to see if I could find it local was preferable to spending a couple of hours on the road throwing my entire day to complete and utter chaos. Not sold at my Target.

Mine are hit and miss on whether they have them but I will look tomorrow. Thank you!

And about the online search being wrong, perhaps but our Target is being remodeled and they've been out of a lot of things the last few weeks and/or the associates don't know where things have been moved to so that is probably probably why.

Did you get your shower caddy or just spend the rest of the day fretting about it online?

Wow, I cannot believe the push back you have gotten on this thread! Why are people so bitchy about shower caddies??? Or disbelieving of your shopping experience? So not what I expected when I opened the thread.
I have been in a similar boat shopping for a shower caddy...And finding one that wasn’t huge or ridiculously expensive for the amount of time it was going to be used was difficult. I ended up getting DD a mesh laundry bag for her shower items. She was able to hang it on a hook in the shower and in the cabin to dry
Good luck, OP. I hope you find something that works and that your DD enjoys camp!

My farmer's market sells strawberries in white plastic baskets that would make a perfect shower caddy. ETA, you could also drill some holes in the bottom of a plastic shoe box from the dollar store (I have one that I use for excess shower stuff next to my tub, the lid is nice to keep dust/hair/product buildup off of my stuff too).

Yes I too don't understand the sarcastic remarks. On that note maybe check Bed Bath and Beyond if you have one near by, also look in the car section of stores they also carry caddies for your car that would work as shower caddies.

So not what I expected when I opened the thread. Maybe because the search seems to be excessive considering she only needs a bag for toothbrush/paste, soap and a pouf. Basically any bag or a ziploc bag would work for that amount of stuff. I'm not trying to (also) be snarky, just answering the question.

I see your point about the nature of the request, but the level of bitch she got was uncalled for. Like, just move on without saying anything if you felt the post was stupid. One person felt the need to not only shame the OP once, they brought it back up hours later to gripe at OP again. I've posted for help here before and realized after getting answers that I was missing the obvious, simple solution. Luckily no one felt the need to take me to task for it. And today, I felt like defending the OP, I suppose.

Because I was looking for something that could hold all her toiletries and be carried to the shower house, into the shower, and then still be able to dry quickly in humid weather/cabin with little to no fussing for my seven year old. When I went to camp I had a very large caboodles caddy because, middle school and mid-nineties hair, but something like that is overkill for her. Found a mesh one online that seemed to be what I was looking for and simply wondered if I was not thinking of a store that would have it in stock. I left my question open ended in case people had other suggestions for a shower caddy (which were appreciated). I'm not stupid or fretting or spent hours in my search like some in this thread have implied. I looked online, checked the stock of a few stores online, and posted here. It has been years since I went to camp and wondered if there were some new products or options available now that weren't years ago. Normally peas are very forth coming and helpful in matters like this but yes, I am a little surprised at the salty replies. Thank you to those who gave helpful suggestions. I did find something to serve her this year and have already ordered one for next year.

when i was in college, before they had specialized shower totes, we used plastic sand buckets - surely the dollar store has those

This is my kid's first time sleeping away from home and having to take care of herself so I'm sure my worry is manifesting in finding the perfect caddy. Didn't realize that searching online stock of stores to save myself time and gas (and avoid dragging my two year old all over completely destroying her schedule) was considered excessive. My phrasing "all morning" was in a poor choice since I didn't literally search all.morning. for a stupid caddy. But I guess that was the impression given. Message received guys.

I hope your daughter enjoys her camp experience! (It's pretty brave for a 7-yr old to be going to sleep-away camp... I was a wuss; I didn't go anywhere like that till I was about 12, lol.)

I see you've already found something. But I was also going to suggest looking in other departments besides the bathroom section... gardening supply or car/tool area or cleaning (like where mops and buckets are). The thing about getting a "real" bathroom caddy/tote is that they usually have holes in the bottom so water can drain out. This is important because then water won't collect in there and get funky. And they're easier to clean because you can just let the water run through them. But, for just a weekend I don't think that would matter. Glad you found something, and I hope your dd has a great time.
