My understanding of creams and pills that contain estrogen is that if there is cancer already present it can increase the spreading of cells and growth, but does not cause cancer itself. It was believed before that it actually caused cancer and was why a lot of women didn't want to take hormones post menopausal. But new research has been done that has debunked that.

I am very sensitive to estrogen, it seems.
The pills gave me headaches that were incredible.
I don't recall any side effects to the cream.

I like it but I am bad about using it consistently. The main purpose as far as I know is only for vaginal health - keeps things balanced and lubricated. I've used both the (insertable vaginal) pill and the cream. The pill is neater and not as messy but for me the cream seems to help with the dryness more. When I am using it properly, I use it about 2 - 3 x a week. You can sometimes find coupons online if your insurance is bad.

I was prescribed it but never used it due to the side effects I read about. I was experiencing dryness and painful sex. Astro glide is my new bff! Best $3.50 I ever spent at Walmart.

Thanks for the replies. I think I will give Astro Glide a try. If that doesn't improve things down there, then i may go ahead and try the cream. It will definitely help. I cannot take estrogen and in fact am on an estrogen blocker. I was experiencing some issues with dryness related to the medication and got some astro glide, helped 100%! |

I used Estrace for 3 years until I had my hysterectomy and I switched to Estradiol (oral pills). While the Estrace helped with vaginal dryness, it did nothing for my hot flashes. The pills, however, take care of both.

As a young breast cancer survivor with Estrogen positive cancer, I can not use anything that is estrogenic. Look into BeeFriendly or V Magic. Both available on Amazon. I would try not to add hormones if something else will work. But you got to do what you have to do.
They said my cancer could have been growing for ten years before I found my lump. It can take it a long time before it shows up somewhere.

Another vote for AstroGlide! Better than AstroGlide, Sliquid. Feels much better and it doesn’t irritate (me, sensitive skin) at all. Dh and I have gone through several different brands before finding this one. |

My acupuncturist gave me a natural cream for hot flashes, etc. My gyn said to use it, because it doesn't have the dangerous possibilities. Both she and I agree that HRT is a bad idea. The cream is all natural stuff. I am going to start using it this weekend. Meanwhile, lubricants are much better than anything w/a possible risk of cancer.
