I completed my radiation treatments and had the SAVI catheter removed today. It's been a long week, but I would not have done it any other way.
I have a week of respite. Then I begin chemo on the 6th of June.

I am glad the week went well. I am also glad you have a week off. Radiation can be just as draining as the chemo treatments yet people tend to treat them like they are not as serious.

It's an exhaustion I have never felt before for sure. I felt like a balloon that someone let all of the air out of. Plus, I'm on a heavy duty antibiotic because of the catheter and open wound. Right now, I'm pumped up and excited. DH and I are going to take advantage of it and have a date night 🙂

Yay! I was wondering if you had done your radiation yet. I’m so glad to hear you are done with that step. I’m starting chemo the week after you. I’m having my port installed on Wednesday and my baseline EKG on Tuesday. What regimen are they putting you on?

I’m having my port installed on Wednesday and my baseline EKG on Tuesday. What regimen are they putting you on? I will be doing TC chemo by IV. I will be doing 4 rounds every 3 weeks. I asked about a port, but this regimen is tolerated well by IV they told me. My SO and MO told me that they didn't really want me to have anymore surgery than absolutely necessary. Even at my "young age", my body has been through a lot in a short time. They both thought my veins could tolerate the TC well.

I'm so glad to hear it went as well as could be expected. Now let your body rest and recover before phase two. I hope someone is pampering you at home.

What regimen are they putting you on? susan, you're well on your way to being completely cancer free and making this entire thing past history. You too, elaine. I'm sorry that you have to go through the icky phase, but it's going to save your lives and I'm not sorry about that.

I'm glad to hear you've made it through radiation. I had 4 rounds of TC too, also every 3 weeks. The IV was fine, other than a bit of bruising from the less-gentle nurses. You can do it!!!
