Have an opportunity to take a class taught by designer Ken Oliver at a LSS (well, it is 60 miles one way). Has anyone every taken a class from him? What were your opinions?

I took the Galaxy Cards class he had at the scrapbook expo. I'm not sure what you're taking, but I wish I had signed up for one of his much pricier ones in addition to the class I took.
His intro was mostly about his dog, but there was also a bit about how he arrived to where he is in the industry and lots of joking about how he gets his parents to help him prepare his class kits. The class pace was great, the content useful and I really enjoyed myself. I've only ever taken one other class (at the very start of my time in the hobby) so I don't have much to compare it with, but I would wholeheartedly take another class with him anytime.
The cards I came out with are not going anywhere. I fully plan to cut off the backs of them (hello, 6 more 5x7 panels to paint on) and frame them. I am thrilled with how they turned out. I'm not sure all of what you'll be using out of his offerings, but we used the galaxy color bursts and some of the liquid metals. So. Much. Fun.

I’ve never taken a class with him but met him and did a make and take at a lss back when we had one. He was very personable and I would take a class given the opportunity.

I’ve never taken a class with him. Up until color burst became popular I had never heard of him. He does have a YouTube channel. It might be worthwhile looking at to see if you’re interested in a class. **ETA*** YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/user/livecookcraftcreate/videos

Took a class in Wisconsin some time ago, more technique based than project based, I enjoyed it but once you’ve done it once I don’t think you need to take another.
