Today a random ad caught my eye for this dress: www.eshakti.com/ProductDetailoption2.aspx?productid=CL0051148 I freaking love it. I have nowhere to wear it and it would likely sit in my closet for years until a suitable occasion arises. Because of that I probably won't buy it, but I know I will always wish I had. About 12 years ago I found a pair of shoes I felt the same way about so I didn't buy them. To this day I wish I had that pair of shoes!

I see dresses I want to wear but do not have the lifestyle for it. Same with shoes, sandals, certain tops.
I tell myself to buy a nice top or a fun dress once in a while.

Buy it and create an occasion to wear it to! If you’ll regret not buying it, then don’t miss out. Dress up for the hell of it even if you don’t have an occasion. Just to feel and look fabulous!

I look at this the same as when people 'save' their good china and linens for the special occasions - and they sit untouched and unused for years and years. Don't wait for a special occasion to come - make another occasion special by using or wearing what you love.

Kelly with AYW calls this our "fantasy self"... the one who buys clothes we never wear for a lifestyle we wish we had (or used to have).

I have never heard that before but it is so accurate in my case. My lifestyle is pretty much work, home for chores and yard work, and the occasional fun with my horse. I get so excited to buy a fancy dress and shoes and such when I have a wedding or event to go to because it's so fun getting dressed up. I always wish I had some reasons to wear more fancy clothes.
I have a coupon code that will pretty much get me half off this dress. I'm seriously considering buying it and throwing a dinner party or something like that.

Life is too short -- buy the dress! (and some shoes) (unless you already have a bunch of unworn dresses hanging in your closet...in that case throw some dinner parties and THEN buy the dress

Now I want the dress, too! I love eShakti, as a woman with a very large bust, a (relatively) narrow waist, and large upper arms even at my ideal weight. If you can afford it, I like your plan!

For some reason, it’s not showing me a specific dress, just a bunch of different ones. But unless it’s really dressy, go for it if you love it. I wear dresses a lot, and I work from home. They’re comfortable and I feel good in them. Dresses don’t have to be just for dressing up.

I wear the clothes I love.
I dress up pretty much every day. Taking my kids to the park? A beautiful dress with full jewelry, beautiful shoes, a nice purse, and a matching mani.
Everyone else wears jeans to work? Who cares, I don’t even own jeans. A beautiful skirt for me.
There are so many occasions to be fancy in life if you want - going out to eat, shopping, museums, theatre, the movies, meeting friends.
Buy the dress. Wear the dress.

Yes I discovered this French store called Sezane and am obsessed with everything but feel the items are too expensive for how much wear I will get out of it.

Today a random ad caught my eye for this dress: I freaking love it. Ooooh that is so pretty! AND IT HAS POCKETS!!!! You must but it! I remember a few years ago I found a gorgeous dress, a very similar style to the one you posted, and it was very flattering on me. It was too expensive though (nearly $200), so I thought I'd wait until it came down in price. Of course it never did, and now I regret not buying it. Just another reason for you to BUY IT NOW!

Hang on.... which dress is it? When I click on your link it takes me to a gorgeous white floral dress. But when I put in the product code from your post, it takes me to a blue/purple/pink ombre georgette dress which is also just gorgeous!

It's pretty and I think you could dress it up or down. I try not to go overboard but I have probably more nice clothes than I really need and try to wear them even when I don't have to such as dressing nice for my book club meetings. When I see something like this that I just can't get out of my mind, I'll usually buy it because I will never be this young again. I'm a good weight but that might change as I get older. If not now, when?

Isn’t it always the way you find something that you just LOVE but have no reason to buy it so you don’t. Then six months or a year or whatever later, you find yourself actually NEEDING something nice to wear and you can’t find a single stinking thing! Drives me nuts. We have two cruises planned for next year, one in the spring and again in the summer. I’m going to need something dressy to wear at some point to each one because we’ll want family photos. I’d better start keeping my eyes open to find something now already, ugh. If I don’t, it will be a guarantee that I won’t find a single thing.

I do the same thing. I have 3 or 4 tops in my closet now- very revealing- don't want to wear out with friends or on a first date! But I had to have them and they will be worn one day- hopefully before my boobs fall to my knees. Wear the dress- it's pretty!

I have a lot of clothes, shoes, and accessories that I buy just because I can't live without them. I eventually wear most of them though. Maybe only once a year, but I get enjoyment out of them and that's good enough for me.
I sometimes hold onto them and then decide to alter them in some way. I bought a black military style coat a few years ago. Big ornate silver crest buttons everywhere, gaudy as hell. But the quality was decent, fit was great, and price was right. It's been hanging in my closet all this time, and last week it hit me. I'm taking those godawful buttons off and replacing them with plain brushed metal antique silver or hematite colored disc shaped buttons. It'll totally change the look of it.

Dress up for the hell of it even if you don’t have an occasion. I love dressing up and will do it in a heartbeat for the smallest reason. Wear a pretty dress to Aldi's and you'll get a compliment every time! Lol.

I love the floral dress and think you should get it and have your dinner party.
I love dresses and wear them often. I think a great dress can be worn to the playground or out to dinner with a change of accessories. I wore a succulent print dress to my son's 5th birthday party last week and I can't remember the last time I got so many compliments on a dress!. I accessorized with a casual cardigan and flats. I'm wearing the same dress to the hollywood bowl tonight, with chandelier earrings, wedge sandals and a wrap in case I get chilly.
I can see that floral dress being super cute with a denim jacket and a pair of red Converse. I can also see it looking great with some fancy jewelry (I'd go with a chunky necklace) and a pair of pretty heels.

Funny you posted this. I purge my closet about twice a year and just did it a few days ago. I have 2 dresses that I bought just because I liked them. They felt like a stretch to me but one that was worth it. They are both summer dresses that were a great price and style/fit for me but I have yet to wear them. I try on things when I purge my closet unless I am 100% sure that it is the wrong size or something I wear often and already know. I tried on both of these dresses and decided to still keep them. I am great at purging but allow myself a few items just because. I use to own a lot of dresses and skirts but now have very few.
A friend of mine has ordered at least a dozen dresses from eshakti. She has nothing but great things to say about them. I planned on ordering one because I love the concept and for the price I feel like it is a good option to try. I have nothing specific to order for so I haven't. The one thing I really lack in my closet is one classic black outfit if I needed one for a funeral. I may go to a funeral a couple times a year but I have things I can wear to it. I have had the thought for several years of what it must be like to lose something very close to you and have to go purchase clothes during that time. For our family it wouldn't just be for me but for both of my boys. My dh has a dark suit so he would be set. That seems so overwhelming to me in the midst of losing someone close. I lost my dad last year but he didn't have a funeral. We did have a memorial service a couple months later but it was at the lake so we dressed in dressy casual so it wasn't something I had to pull together plus we had time.

Why wouldn't you wear it if you love it. You could wear that anywhere. The link opened to a pretty floral dress for me. Looked like a dress that could go just about anywhere, except a formal event.
I say buy it.
