Buy it and create an occasion to wear it to! If you’ll regret not buying it, then don’t miss out. Dress up for the hell of it even if you don’t have an occasion. Just to feel and look fabulous! This. Go somewhere fun you can wear this dress to and feel fabulous in it. Especially with that coupon. For half price how can you not buy it.

That’s not the dress the OP is talking about.

It's a fine line, between "want" and "need"....."I have enough clothes already" and "I love love love it, so I'm getting it".
For me the deciding factor, is usually price. and the type and fit of an item. I have a hard time finding dresses, so if it's the style I like and in the color(s) palette that I usually wear, I usually buy it. If it's "another tank top" (an item, of which I have quite a few) then I think twice about it.

One of my top deciding factors is the uniqueness. I love unusual clothes, and if it's something that I've never seen in mass market retail stores, catalogs, and websites then I'm more likely to really want to have it.
Quality too. If it's made from a premium material and has premium workmanship or details, I'm more likely to really want to have it.
Fit is usually the big deciding factor. If it's unique, well-made, *and* fits well? Then I'm buying it if I can afford it, no matter whether I have an occasion in mind for it or not.
A lot of my clothes are true one of a kind, or part of limited production collections from indie designers. So, it's not like I can easily find another one if I pass on something.
