Learned a new term
Love this comment from the article: “Will someone tell me what ‘bowl food’ is?! I am guessing it’s er….food, in a bowl? If so, I have just given my cat ‘bowl food,’” Helin Blake tweeted.

Vegan Buddha Bowl, Enchilada Power Bowl with Spicy Tofu, Cuban Chicken and Black Bean Quinoa Bowl--gah!!! I know I'm irrational but it irks me to no end whenever I see one of these trendy and precious recipe titles; it makes me want to kill somebody.
When I see one, I envision a sanctimonious yoga practitioner sitting cross-legged in the corner with a frigging bowl and chopsticks, smugly believing their diet is better than anyone else's. The crazy part is, I'm generally a pretty healthy eater, and neither yoga nor chopsticks annoy me in any other context. But the very mention of "bowls" makes me want to sit down with Cheetos and Little Debbies in rebellion.

Ever watch Portlandia? We had @peano's Vegan Buddha bowl in Portland right after the Voodoo Donuts. We eat bibimbap which is the Korean equivalent to bowl. It is much tastier than a Buddha bowl. I confess that I slap a lot things in a bowl for my convenience. SaveSave

In my opinion, "food bowls" are not a new trend, they have been around for decades.
Just because, someone famous does something (like serve a food bowl) does not suddenly make it "a new thing", all it does it show how many "bandwagon jumpers" there are, and how one news article or story can take an ordinary and/or usual thing and "hype it" to be the latest "new" craze.
The latest new craze will slow and fade. The people who always make and eat food bowls will still be doing that.....and the bandwagon jumpers will have moved on to the newest and latest "craze of the moment".

KFC used to have a bowl. It had chicken, mashed potato, corn, and cheese.
Seriously, throw whatever you're eating together in a bowl. That's not trendy, it's lazy.

This has been around for years...hell it’s on the menu at a ton of places including chains and fast food places, so I don’t know how anyone can say it’s because of the royal wedding <eyeroll>

is it just easier to serve in a bowl? because it isn't necessarily easier to EAT food like that out of a bowl.
my favorite 'bowl' food is Captain Crunch with Crunchberries (can't use chopsticks with those, though... lol)

It always sounds pretentious to me. I don't care what vessel you use for serving your meal- it doesn't need to be part of the name of the meal. Unless it's parfait. Everybody loves parfait. (Corny Shrek reference right there.)

I enjoy having a meal in bowl. Somehow it just appeals to me.
