Mary Kay Lady 's thread about no longer driving her son to school has me reminiscing about favorite overheard conversations or questions that came up while driving the kids and their friends somewhere. I was taking a van load of 13-14 year old girls on an hour drive to a concert and they had a very long discussion about the pros & cons of tattoos. It started to get a little heated as one girl vehemently declared she would never date or marry a guy with a tat and another immediately announced she wouldn't date or marry a guy who didn't have tats. The girls are 20-21 now and all the tat lovers have their own tats and a few extra piercing and none of the fans of uninked skin do. When the boys were about the same age, I was taking a group through In-n-Out when one of DS's friends asked me if I'd ever heard of the Kama Sutra and could I explain what it is. I said yes, told them and then tried not to laugh as we drove home in absolute silence. What are some of your favorites?

When DD was younger, say about 5 or 6, she told me on the way to school one morning that when she grew up she was going to go to school and work hard so that she could have a big house and lots of animals. (She knew I worked in the Welfare Dept and how I felt about providing for oneself.) She impressed me with her knowledge of hard work and rewards. She's now married, has six kids, a great job, and at one time or another has had two cats, three dogs, two rabbits, and 18 chickens. Oh, and a nice home that accommodates her bizarre menagerie. I think our best conversations took place on the way to and from school each day.

My fifth grader told me one time that hookers in Vegas had A teams and B teams. The B teams were out on Friday nights and the A teams got Saturday nights.
Same child also informed me that I was lucky I didn't have worry because sex toys were only illegal in three states and one was not Colorado.
God, I love this boy.
