I got an electric ice cream maker for my birthday. Can't wait to try it. I've never used one. Any tips, tricks?
Also, anyone have any easy recipes that are really good? The recipes that came in the booklet require multiple steps that sound like a pain!
I looked online and found some, but was hoping to hear from some peas with recipes that are "verified" good!
Thanks!

After reading through countless recipes that had way too many steps and ingredients, I’ve been making it like this with good results.
Basic Vanilla Ice Cream 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk 2 cups heavy cream (or you can do a combination of cream and lower fat milk, just know that less fat in the mixture will create more ice crystals in the ice cream, I usually do 1.25 cups cream and .75 cup milk) 1 tsp vanilla (or other extract)
Make sure all ingredients are cold to start. Mix everything in a bowl or container and put it in the freezer for 20-30 minutes to make everything really cold (this will cut down your churning time). If you want to include chocolate chips, chopped candies or other mix-ins, add them in the last five minutes of churning time so they don’t all sink to the bottom. The ice cream will be like soft serve when it’s first done. Put it into a freezer safe container and continue to freeze it for another couple hours to achieve scooping consistency. This makes a perfect amount of ice cream for a 1.5 qt electric ice cream maker like the Cuisinart.
Note: for a basic chocolate ice cream, stir in 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder to the basic mixture above before chilling.
Have fun! I made so much ice cream last year it was crazy! The Ben & Jerry’s ice cream recipe book had a lot of ideas, but many of them required cooking or had eggs in them which I didn’t want to mess with. There are loads of recipes on Pinterest or Allrecipes that you can find with a quick search.

I don't know the exact recipe and don't own an Ice cream maker. But, my friend brought hers over Monday when we grilled out. She made chocolate ice cream and I had no idea it could be this easy and quick. Just standing and watching her mix it up, this is what she used:
Chocolate milk - about half a gallon 1 Can sweetened condensed milk - Not sure the size of the can Cool Whip - almost one regular tub
It only churned about 20-30 minutes and was a little thicker than soft serve. I'm now going to buy me an ice cream maker!

I wanted to add that we tried a bunch of our favorite ice cream shop flavors with good success by slightly altering the recipe I posted, including Coconut Joy (add chopped up Mounds bars and sub coconut extract for the vanilla), cake batter (add 1/2 to 3/4 cup Funfetti cake mix plus extra jimmies), Peanut Butter Cup (add chopped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups to chocolate ice cream), raspberry dark chocolate (add thawed or fresh raspberries mixed with a tablespoon of vodka to keep them from freezing rock hard and mini dark chocolate chips), white chocolate raspberry (melt 1/2 cup white chocolate chips with a little heavy cream and mix into the liquid batter, then add whole raspberries as noted above). So many flavors. So little time!

The Ben &Jerry’s ice cream cookbook. The first part talks of the science of ice cream. With this, I can alter the recipes slightly got fat content.
Very yummy!!

It's got a lot of recipes but also goes into the whys of the ingredients a bit. It makes it easy to adjust for the flavors you want. Also, don't completely discount the recipes with a lot of steps. Some of those are very good. A cooked ice cream can often be richer with a depth of flavor a "raw" ice cream doesn't have.
