I saw that. How absolutely dumb is that?
This is from a man who looks backwards instead of forward.
And why throw a safety line to an industry that sickens its workers and then leave them out in the cold when they need medical care.
I’m talking about black lung disease and the efforts of the coal mine owners to defund the program that provides medical care to coal miners who have black lung disease.

Nuclear energy I can see. Coal is a dying animal, though.

I’m not a fan of nuclear power until they find a good way of dealing with nuclear waste.
Moving it across country and sticking in a mountain in my home state is not good for a lot of reasons.

The Hill.... “Samantha Bee slams criticism after Ivanka insult: We're focused on "one bad word" instead of immigration issues hill.cm/2TUXPdQ” And the number of unreported/hiden deaths In the aftermath of the hurricanes that hit Puerto Rico last year. I’ll get my panties in a bunch over her unfortunate ugly word choice once we start holding trump, the GOP, Hannity, Giuliani and the rest of the idiot fucktards in office and media accountable. He demands everyone apologize to him but you’d never hear those words from him on his dying deathbed.

It’s plain and simple. The Energy industry courted, contributed to and meets with the DOE, prepares the arguments using obscure rulings (I.e. that the DOE/pres can order these bailouts in state of “emergency or war”) then trump creates the (fake) emergency and makes it so. Why? ALWAYS follow the money. The energy industry has paid millions upon millions to these men. (My husband works in the energy industry and sees this shit daily)

So much for the free market, which is generally the panacea the conservatives offer up to fix any issue they want to avoid having to actually think about.

I think it’s more of a matter that trump has to prove himself right. That we do need coal powered energy and we do need nuclear energy. Even though reality proves him wrong.

Sorry casii , didn't see this thread. What I said in the other one: For over 10 years power markets in the country have been driving down the cost of bulk power (the creation part) - not necessarily the delivered power (the local wires, substations, feeders, from your utility part). But now, the prices are so low that many inefficient coal and nuclear plants can't compete and they are not chosen to generate by the market operators. No fear, Trump and the DOE to the rescue. Just make up a national emergency and force markets to pay "out of market' payment to these generators, to keep them running and to keep payments and flowing to your utility and coal investment buddies. GOP - "we love "free markets" except when we're heavily invested in long-payback assets that are now "out of market"". This is just one region, but it's representative of what's happened across the country. And even more since 2013. See below. Now coal and nuclear can't compete w/these low prices, flat consumer demand (thanks high efficiency appliances, HVAC and LEDs!) and their own internal high fixed costs. Time for the ratepayer to step in and save the day, so the poor darling billionaire shareholders don't have to take it in the shorts.

This is absolutely about votes. My dad switched to the coal plant industry after spending almost 25 years working in the nuclear power plant industry about 10-15 years ago. The biggest reason he voted for trump was because he was/is pro coal. Same with my mom, because she wants her husband to keep his job. My dad is not happy with Trump, hates him as a person, but this will absolutely ensure that he votes for him again in he next election.

This random tweet..,
“Breaking: Trump administration officials are making plans to order grid operators to buy electricity from struggling coal and nuclear plants in an effort to extend their life, a move that would represent an unprecedented intervention into U.S. energy markets.”
Prompted this response Arnold...
“I eagerly await the administration’s regulations protecting pagers, fax machines, and Blockbuster”
Nailed it!

I get the feeling they’re trying to make sure Canada won’t take in the refugees when Trump, Pence and Ted Cruz turn the US into Gilead.
Only half joking.

good luck with the columbia river treaty.. we have a close relationship with them over the diablo hydro complex.. where we store water in canada to put through the dams in washington... cheap, clean hydro power.
