Honestly? At this point I'd call the pros. For less than $100, they will get it out. And sometimes when you use other products on a stain, it sets the stain. If you are determined to do it yourself, my vote is for Oxyclean. That stuff is magic. Just make sure your rinse it out of the carpet really, really well. I've had it eat through clothing before when I've left it to sit on a stubborn stain. (Brand new Gymboree top with a big hole in the middle of the tummy!) We have dogs/kids and the pros never got out the stains like I could. It looked good for a while, but then the stain came back. My favorite thing to do with a carpet stain is to use Oxiclean and then set my Spot Bot with hot water to suck it all up. One year our dogs got into our pantry and devoured a bag of chips -family sized (scary because I know they can suffocate in chip bags), and I came home to 26 piles of vomit. That Spot Bot and Oxiclean were worth their weight in gold.

I’ve had great luck with Spot Shot, too. Between it and OxiClean, I think you’ll be able to lift it. Spot Shot was my second favorite cleaning supply. Great for getting out pet stains.

New question, I can tell that the stain is still there, and I didn't cover and weight the area as it dried (but will moving forward) :/ So anyway, I happen to have an old bottle of hydrogen peroxide on hand so I thought I'd give it a go first thing in the morning before deciding if I need to buy Oxiclean. Anyhow, after testing it, do I use the peroxide full strength on the stain, or dilute it? Thanks!

Hydrogen peroxide can leave a yellow stain so I'd be careful with it being that your carpet is white. I'd buy a bottle of Folex from Home Depot and spray, don't scrub, and then put the towel and weight it down.

How old is the bottle you have? Was it bulging a bit when you got it out of the cabinet? I ask these questions because hydrogen peroxide definitely ages and breaks down just sitting in the bottle. The bottle will start to bulge because one of the byproducts is oxygen gas.
If I were you, I would call in a pro. You don’t want to try something that will cause permanent damage to the carpet fibers.

Folex I got blood out of the carpet—we clipped the dogs nails and cut him, he ran all over the house bleeding until we caught him, and we started to clean after—blood was dried and you cannot see it using Folex. Also, I dropped red wax on my cream carpet. Again, after ironing it off, still a red stain. I used the Folex and you cannot tell where it was at all.

Ah, y'all are making me second guess my next move. So, the peroxide I have in the house is not bulging, but the pull date is 18 months ago, and now that I've read that it could leave a yellow stain, I think I'm going to pass on using it. I just ordered the folex and it will be here on Tuesday. If nothing else it sounds like something that's good to have on hand.
In the meantime, I'm going to the grocery store in a while and will pick up Oxiclean and give that a go.

i know you are erring on the side of caution
peroxide is in the brown bottle to keep itfrom breaking down quickly
even if you don't use iton the carpet
keep it mind for stains in the laundry room
do you have a swatch of your carpet? maybe under a couch/chair leg?
i use it on everything and have never had it fade or leave a yellow mark
i mix it 2:1 with blue dawn
and it costs like 1.29 at the dollar store

Even if you don’t want to use the peroxide I have used the Dawn mixture without it and it helps (using the iron). Honestly the iron on steam setting helps tremendously. Your white towel afterwards will be brown from the pop stain.

My vote is Folex too. That stuff is the bomb. Also, once the stain is gone make sure you rinse the area really well. Especially after trying so many things. Any residual cleaning products will attract more dust/dirt and can make that spot appear dirty over time, more so than the rest of your carpet.

Hi girls, I just want to give a little update because you all were so helpful! I ended up using Folex on the stain yesterday morning. Went over it very well, then went over it with a mixture of vinegar and water which I had read will help keep any cleaner residue from attracting dirt. Sopped up as much moisture as I could, then covered it with white towels and weighted it down with a box of books. I just uncovered it a bit ago and the stain is GONE. Can you believe it?!? I wasn't holding out much hope, so that was a very pleasant surprise. Anyhow, thanks again for all the hand-holding. I've been a pea for just over 17 years now and you are all still the best. Thanks again

I'm going to try the Folex given all the recommendations and your results.

Folex is going to be wondering why they are selling more bottles all of a sudden. This thread needs to go in a special problem solving folder for future reference. I'm glad you were able to get that stain out! The Peas know everything.

Yay! Just remember to keep a weighted towel over the stain until it is completely dry. If the rug is even remotely damp, color from the padding, etc. can still wick to the top as it's drying.

Wow, glad it worked!!!
I have had a red stain on our carpet that I tried everything from oxi, vinegar, alcohol, tide, shout, and various bissel products on with no luck. But I finally just removed it this week, too!
I used a professional product that you had to mix in a 50/50 dilution, saturate the stain, then put a damp terry cloth towel over it and iron it!!
It smelled awful and kinda like amonia, but it worked! The stain is gone!! Just thought I'd also share my stain victory with you. 😊
