Here is the one I use. I roll it out and cut them into bone shapes and give them out to friends at Christmas if they have pups. For the oat flour, I have put oats into a blender and I have also just used the oats for oatmeal. I have also used regular applesauce and regular peanut butter if I didn't have the recipe's ingredients. Not as healthy as the recipe calls for, but my dogs were gracious enough to not say anything.
4 cups oat flour 2/3 unsweetened apple sauce 1/2 cup natural peanut butter 2 whole eggs
Mix all, roll out into 1/4 inch thickness and cut out. Bake for 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees. This time is for 12 treats. I have made smaller treats and cut down the time.

Oooh, thank you 950nancy! I buy treats like this at a local store but would rather make them. They told me what was in their treats but hadn't looked up a recipe yet. This sounds like it. Are they soft when you bake them? My boys LOVE them!

My dog treat recipe is
8 oz of puree 2 cups of wheat flour water
mix together to form a dough (you may or may not need water depending on how wet your puree is). Roll out, cut into "cookies" and bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes.
NOTES: I haven't used rice flour, but I did use buckwheat and barley flour once, it worked out fine, but I needed extra flour to make the dough stiff enough, you may start off with a mix of rice flour and wheat flour.
I usually use pumpkin puree, but I have also used baby food, blended up leftovers, sweet potatoes, etc. Sometimes I throw in an egg, a spoon full of peanut butter or bacon drippings just to make them more interesting.

FYI- plain Cheerios are a great, cheap doggie treat. My dog just loves them!
I wonder if you could grind them up and use that as "flour" for a baked dog treat recipe?

The best part about making these treats is no one will complain. I'd try it.

I slice bananas and freeze the slices. Then put a spread of PB between the slices and keep them in the freezer for a treat. I use 1 big 32 ounce container of organic whole yogurt, 1 cup peanut butter and 2 mashed bananas. Blend until smooth. Sometimes I put blue berries in also. Then I put them in these cupsand put them in the freezer for the doggie ice cream. I also make treats: 1 egg 1 overly ripe banana, mashed 1 pint blueberries 2 tablespoon honey 1 cup old fashioned oats 1/2 cup almond flour or wheat flour I mix it together and scoop onto cookie sheets by the tablespoon or teaspoon and bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes. These can be stored in an airtight container for weeks. I buy the dried banana chips and use those for treats. In the summer I freeze blueberries when they're cheap. I freeze sliced bananas. I freeze watermelon if we aren't going to finish it or it's not really flavorful. They love that. And yes...my mini schnauzers are spoiled little cute puppies! lol

Now I need to get a bone cookie cutter.

I make my own dog treats. I give them away at Christmas, but I also use them every day. My recipe is really simple: 3 bananas 1/2 cup natural peanut butter (no artificial sweetners!) flour to bind it all together I really don't measure--I just dump in the bananas, add a few scoops of peanut butter, then add flour until the mixture is stiff enough to roll. I've never had one complaint. Emma gobbles them all up and even knows when I'm making them for her. I've chopped up frozen blueberries and added them, too. Basically I just look through what I want to use up and add them. Look for whole foods, nothing with added fat or sugar. I've never added eggs, as the cookies stay together just fine without them. And make sure your peanut butter doesn't have artificial sweeteners in it, as some can be poisonous to dogs. List of things not to feed your dogI frequently use up specialty flours like almond flour (accidentally bought 2 bags once), bread flour, extra oats, etc. Don't use more than 1/2 cup of almond flour at a time, as too much fat can cause pancreatitis in dogs. I had a recipe where I needed quick oats and I didn't want to keep oats for breakfast and the quick cook oats in the pantry, so I ground the quick cook oats up into flour, then sprinkled them over the counter so that the whole oats were on top of the biscuits when I rolled them out. And yes, I've also used ground up Cheerios as my flour. Emma really likes the pumpkin spice ones! DH eats a banana a day and sometimes they get too ripe. So I freeze the overripe bananas (in their skins) and then thaw them to make the biscuits. 3 bananas makes enough biscuits for about a month. I get 2 quart zip bags of biscuits, then I frequently cut one roll out into 1" hearts. I also make training treats, cutting them into tiny squares with a pizza cutter (but mostly I use Cheerios for training treats.) For soft biscuits, I roll them thicker and don't bake them as long. But I freeze them because I think they could get funky if I left them out for a month since they are just fruit and flour. For crunchy biscuits, I roll them a little thinner and just bake them at 325 until they are crispy; it takes about an hour. Those I don't freeze.
