Hi, my husband has found a pet sitter to come check on the cats,, clean the catbox, and feed/water them once a day. She actually lives very close to where he's staying so could come twice a day but I'm ok with once, they can live on dry food for a week.
There are two cats.
He'll be gone for a week. He asked her how much and she said she's "flexible on pricing". Idk what that means, he wants to know how much to offer and I really have no idea because I've never needed a sitter for them before.
So I told him I'd ask the peas! TIA for any help. This is a woman who does this as a side job, she also works in the office of the apt complex where he's staying until we close on the house. ATL area if that makes any difference in pricing.

We live just outside Phoenix-- I think we paid something like $15 / day for once per day cat visits... (we had two cats at the time.) The sitter typically cleaned the litterbox and stayed about 30 minutes to play with them and give them some attention. Twice a day visits would probably be about $20.
To give you a little more comparison, we paid the same petsitter $75/night for 12 hour overnights-- that was with our cats AND dogs at home. (we got a really good deal, considering the total # of pets.)
ETA: our sitters were licensed, bonded, and insured and did this as a business. Make sure the sitter you use has emergency info phone numbers, and that your husband signs some sort of a written release saying that she can take them to the vet (leave the vet info, too) in case of emergency.

A woman in my neighborhood looking to dog sit posted that she charges $25 a day for one dog, plus $5 for each additional dog. However, she comes twice a day to feed, play with and walk the dog(s) -- quite a bit more time being spent than your case, so something less than that?

I'm on the south side of Atlanta. I usually hire a teenage girl and I give her $100 for 7 days. She comes once a day to feed the two cats, scoop the litter, and top off the water bowl. I'm sure she's not in the house even 5 minutes a day. She also lives about a mile away.

Thank you for the help! He was thinking $100-150 but didn't want to lowball it.

My 17 year old cat sits our neighbor’s cat. She lives two houses down from us. She gets $10 a day to feed the cat. I’m not sure where the cat goes to the bathroom, but dd couldn’t find a litter box and she wasn’t asked to scoop or change one. Dd went twice a day. The neighbors are also very good friends, dd loves cats and would have done it for free. She often spent an hour each time just sitting and petting/playing with the kitty.
I think $20-$25 for an adult is reasonable. You aren’t just paying for their time each day but for them to make themselves available daily.

I pay my son's 10 year old friend $15/day to come by once and do those things for one cat. I'd go a bit more for an adult.

My 16-yo neighbor comes over once a day to feed and play with the cats. She scoops the box once or twice during the week. She ends up hanging out playing with the cats a lot, because she's 16 and loves cats. We pay her $10 per day and dread the day when she graduates from HS. She's been watching them for three or four years now.

We'll be going away for two weeks and hiring a teenage friend to take care of our two cats, plus water my flower pots while we are gone. We have a new vegetable garden this year and I'm going to ask her to turn the sprinkler on for the plot every other day while she's here, too. I'm thinking it will take her up to an hour each day, and I'm planning to give her $20/day. We've had this arrangement for the past several years.

I pay $23 per day for a half hour visit from a professional pet sitter for 2 cats. One is asthmatic so she has to give her her inhaler and a pill. I live in the city so YMMV.

My daughter is doing this for the summer. I think she is booking through bark( or woof) something like that. She charges $12 an hour, that it the starting rate. I think that she will raise that to $15 at the start of July.

My kids fed my neighbor's dog this week. She's an outdoor dog so just needed a scoop of food in the morning and fresh water. 5 dollars a day so 20 dollars for the week and they will split between them. They did play with her and stuff but they do that on a daily basis without getting paid.

I am paying a teen to do just what you described, OP, and I pay him $10 a day. He will be cutting the grass once while we're away and I will pay him $25 or $30 extra for that.

In the past, we’ve paid a friend $50 a night to house sit and pet sit our (at the time) three dogs overnight. We also told her she could eat whatever she wanted but she never did, she always brought her own food. She would make use of the washer and dryer (which was fine by us) though because she has coin op machines at the apartment complex where she lives.

I sit for my aunts dog. I was just there this past weekend. Went out Friday around 2pm, was there all weekend and then went to work from there place on Monday. She always tells me to eat what I want, but I always bring my own stuff. They paid me $140/$35 an hr. I’ve never given them a figure. I figure when it’s a weekend it a mini vacation for me. If I would have been there the whole week, I would have asked for more as they live 45 min away from my work and even worse on the way home.
