If you have switched from DirecTV satellite to DirecTV NOW, please share your experience. Did it really save you money in the long run? What package did you choose? Hidden charges that popped up? Is it really that easy to switch? Any pros/cons you can share is appreciated.
DH put me in charge of "research" for this and I knew immediately to come to experts!

I switched from Dish to Directv Now and I've been very happy with my decision. I have the first tier package, I think. Plus HBO. The other packages didn't really offer anything more that I would watch so I didn't choose one of those. Since I'm with AT&T for our cell phones and have an unlimited data package, I get a $25 credit each month on my Directv Now service and my HBO is free. So, I pay $10/month for service. No other fees. Beats the hell out of the $135/month I was paying Dish.
As far as service goes, I really have no complaints. For a while I was having a lot of buffering issues but they've just updated the app and it rarely happens now. Also, I believe DVR service is out of Beta testing and is available to all users now. Also, you don't have to pay for each tv/device you use to watch like you normally do for most cable/satellite providers.

I just switched last week. We went from regular DirecTV to Now. It is saving us about $50/month and we have the same channels. We could have saved more with the lower packages, but DS wanted MLB network and I paid $5/month extra to be able to watch on 3 devices instead of 2 devices.
The only differences are that we only get 20 hours in the cloud DVR for recordings and we can only watch on 3 devices at a time.
For new customers, the offer I found was either 3 months free or prepay for the first 3 months and receive a free Apple TV.
We are streaming mostly with Roku sticks and Apple TV. One of our TV's was new enough to be able to stream directly from the TV itself. Otherwise, even TV's and a Firestick that are a couple years old weren't "new enough."
We also have Netflix, Prime and Hulu.

I was wrong. I checked my account and if I stream on 3 at the same time I have to pay $5 more. Since there's only two of us, that never happens
My tv is about 9-10 years old and it works fine with a Fire Stick. Or are you talking about a FS that is a couple of years old?

Yep, our Fire Stick is a few years old. Bummer!

I switched from Cablevision to Direct TVnow and I am happy so far. My cable bill dropped by over $100. Streaming in my living room is great, in my bedroom it can be iffy, not sure why. But overall best move I've made

We were paying $170/mo for our satellite package, and now we're paying $40 for the directv now app. We also have Netflix, HBO, and HULU, but we are still WAY ahead in savings. No complaints except we do miss the DVR feature.

We tried DirectvNow when we first cut the cable. We had the top package and it was still half of what our previous cable bill had been, and no surprise charges. Stuck with them for 6 months and then finally switched over to Hulu Live. The main reason we switched is that there were serious buffering issues with DirectvNow, even though we have fiber optic cable (the fastest available). Hopefully they have ironed out those issues.

We switched from Att unversed to Direct tv now in November. We pay $10 a month for the basic service plus HBO. The service buffered so much in the beginning that we bought an indoor/outdoor antenna. The buffering only seems to be at night after 8. In the past two weeks, Directtv now added dvr and the service isn’t buffering as much. We are going to stick with it!

Is internet a part of it or are you getting your internet services elsewhere?
