I'm wondering how you all work on mini albums.
Do you make the mini album in advance prior to event? Or do you make it after?
My question is specific to a December Daily in this case. I know what my pages will be about. I know what pictures I should take. I have a Selphy so technically I can print immediately.
I have the supplies on the way for the album. But do I create it first and just add the pictures and some elements after?
I'm really excited about the project, but I usually like to have everything I want when I work. I'm not a oh I will add that later when I get home kinda girl. I need everything around me. So I'm not sure if not having the pictures will throw me off.
For what I want to add, I may be doing a 12 x 12 album..Its going to have previous years in there and memories from childhood. So its not just going to be a daily for this year.
Any words of wisdom or thoughts.

I would do it after, just because I am obsessive about colors coordinating with my pictures, but I can see an advantage to doing it ahead of time, too.

I am thinking about doing a December daily and if I do, I would put the book together first. I don't think I want this to be a burden/to do item after the holidays and there's a better chance of me completing it if there's less to do at the end.

I always have trouble pre-making stuff, and only tend to maybe gather supplies or themed elements for the project. I generally need to see the photos. I am one of those people who envisions the project then it ends up in a different direction, which is usually better and I am happier with!
That said, December Daily may be easier to premake bcz you will be using holiday themes. I did a mini december album once and I set it up knowing which events/themes I was going to showcase on various pages, so that may help with your elements.

I do some albums a head of time, only if there is a paper line I love and want to use exclusively on that album. Matching or not!

Can you do something inbetween?
I don't really like working without photos.
So can you come up with a few page kits -- like you know what embellishments will go with what paper. So it would be fun to put little kits together and pull out a kit that works with a photo when you're ready. It will save some time if you have it now to put kits together. Then later, when you're busy since it's christmas, it will go faster.
And if you are excited now and you are putting older stuff in it, you can start with that and see what direction you want to go.

I am a kit girl. i have hundreds of kits that I have put together that still need pictures. I have a couple of mini albums too. I make what moves me at the time. Maybe you could put some of it together, but not put on mats if you use them so the pictures could go either way.

I make them after because I like to design my pages around my photos.

I have done them both ways. The advantage to doing it before is that you know in advance what the layouts look like, what the page themes are (especially for December Daily) and what orientation the photos need to be so you can be sure to take extras the right way to make sure you get what you want for the book. The advantage to doing it after is that you have the photos to work off of and to be inspired by in case something unexpected happens that you want to play with.
With something like December Daily in particular, I like to at least plan out some of the layouts for the main things we always do. I do 8x8 books for mine so I don't have a lot of extra wiggle room. I didn't get any of the base pages made ahead of time last year and as a result I never got any of it done other than taking the pics and writing some journaling every day.

I have done it both ways and generally like my books better when I don't pre-make all the pages.

I pre-made an album once...and it's still sitting there empty. Not sure why, but pre-making an album doesn't work for me.
However, Do what you feel the most comfortable/productive with!

After, since I need to see how the pictures will go with my layout. Sometimes I have to cut a bit off the sides or maybe I want to bring out certain colors.
