I'd be interested to hear as well. I've seen them being used by others but am interested to hear how the black compares to Versafine onyx black which is my favourite black when I'm not using copics.

I haven't used them myself, but I gather it's a faster drying pigment ink, which means it can be heat embossed (but maybe not take forever to dry like some pigment inks). From what I've heard I think it gives a really rich color but also shows detail well and also works well with solid stamps. Some people seem to be in love with the black but I don't know whether there are features that really set it apart from Versafine Black. I'm interested to hear from people who've used it.

I have six of these. All except one of these is from Japan because I have family stationed over there, but I have a gray one I ordered locally. I am guessing they are exactly the same formula but thought I would mention that. My experience is that they are like versafine in terms of detail and they give a very good impression. The odd thing is that even though they seem to be faster drying than versafine (at least non-smearing) you can still emboss with them for as much as five minutes after you stamp depending on your climate. I know that doesn't seem to make sense but that has been my experience and I have heard others on another forum describe them that way. They are very vibrant. The gray is a nice one because it's a couple shades darker than the Smokey Gray Versafine and is nice for sentiments that you want a little less bold than the black. I was hoping they would come out with some soft colors but I doubt that will happen.

Hmm sounds interesting. Might try the black one. I'm not really interested in the other colours as I have a lot of dye inks plus Amuse pigment inks.

Probably a month or so ago I purchased some of the Versafine Clair ink pads that are available. I purchased a brown, black, and gray, and mostly the bright colors. I used the black ink pad to stamp a sentiment with and it stamped super beautifully--much better than any other ink I have.
Kind of on this subject, does anyone know if Versafine Clair reinkers are going to be available for sale? Somewhere online I purchased the black and pinecone reinkers.

If it’s anything like what they did with regular Versafine it will be just the two colors you mentioned. With Versafine they released reinkers for sepia and the black. When asked, they said that since Versafine pads last such a long time they didn’t think it was necessary to release more. I use the gray a lot but I guess I can spring for a new pad some day. I still need to buy the black Clair. Seems like a must have.

Rily, I was impressed with the Versafine Clair black ink pad. It gave a very "professional" look.
Thanks for telling about the reinkers. I guess I just figured they would come out with them. I probably would not have bought the other ink pads if I'd known they didn't have reinkers, but that is just me. When I buy a stamp pad I purchase a reinker at the same time.

Someone asked about pigment ink pads in a fb group and a lot of people raved about the versafine clair inks. I need to try one.

If they last as long as my Versafine they may outlast me. I usually don’t like to not have reinkers either but so far at least, I just use these for sentiments and embossing. The colors are pretty intense. Actually I didn’t plan to buy a bunch of these beyond black and gray but got them as a gift. I may get a few more favorite colors though and definitely the black.
