I watched it all when it was originally in TV. Then rewatched all seasons on DVD after the series ended.
I started watching it again a couple of weeks ago and am about halfway through the first season. I realized that it now is a "period piece"....19 years later.
I was watching it last night and there is a story about Leo's (WH Chief of Staff) past alcohol and drug addiction that is about to break. One person (I can't remember her name) says to CJ:
"The story is about to break tomorrow, it's all over the Internet."
Then the NEXT MORNING Leo holds a press conference explaining his side and that the story will break that evening.
Now really, do you even remember back to when a story broke online but the shit didnt hit the fan (aka hit "traditional media") for another day?!?
Yep, the good old days...

It's "funny" how fast things move. Most often in the past few years, the little fluff, feel good pieces on the TV news are "old news" by the time I see them there thanks to teens in house. They already shared most of them with me. Goes for pretty much everything these days unless they break in to regular programming. 24 hour news cycle no more.

Nineteen years? Love that show, we've watched it at least half a dozen times all the way through. Except the last season or two. We've probably only seen those a couple of times. #Bartlett2020

I have been watching ER on Hulu for the past few months. I’m only 30 so I was a little young to watch the show when it originally aired. I’m up to season 14 one and the music is cracking me up, it’s all the stuff I listened to in high school. It is jarring to hear it against the ER backdrop. Back then I was too busy watching Gossip Girl and The OC.

I’m watching “the facts of life with my girls” and wow. I’m a real fossil. I had to explain why long distance phone calls were a big deal, like you had to pay money to make a phone call. It’s full of all kinds of relics.

DH has discovered this show for the first time (he was in high school/college whole it was on and didn't watch TV then). He loves it. I remember watching most of it when it was on but missed the middle seasons. We both have been commenting on how much we're still dealing with much of the same issues. SSDD.

We're watching it for the first time too. I don't know how we missed it when it originally aired because we are old enough and it's our kind of show but somehow we did. We are loving it. We comment on every episode how it's the same damn things we are dealing with today. Other than the technology, it could be a current show.

DH and I were just talking and we think it started going downhill when Sorkin left. Went to jail?

It was so long ago that I stopped watching around season 5 because it got "too liberal." I've since caught up.

DS and I watched it last year. Great show. We’re desperately trying to find another series of that caliber to watch together.
I’ve started rewatching ER. What a blast from the past! And the tech in the hospital is so outdated!

It’s full of all kinds of relics. Lol. I just had a similar conversation with my dd. Somehow we got on to the subject of "old fashioned" phones and calling...I mentioned that back in the Dark Ages I had just gotten this excellent new thing on my phone account where I paid one flat fee for all phone calls, including long-distance ones. My mom didn't have it though so I tried to do all the calling to her so she wouldn't have to pay long distance. But if she wanted to talk to me the signal was that she'd call and let it ring once then hang up. Then I'd call her back. The thing is we had no Caller-ID back then so I'd just guess that it was her. But, it always was since we also had no telemarketing back then. At least not like today, and no robo-calls (I'm not sure the "robo" had even been invented). Yeah, I'm ancient.

In fact I just said to dd the other day that I feel another binge coming on after I'm finished with my current one ("NCIS").

I didn't watch West Wing when it originally aired - but I watch it, pretty much annually, now! What I noticed this year -- dialog that would be terms "sexual harassment" so MUCH!! Yes - it is the "old fashioned" sexual harassment that most of us business women of "an age" just learned to "deal with". And there was an episode on the subject - with Sam and (the conservative Southern blond character name escaping me right now) -- we learned to deal with it! I note this with no intention to "start" anything - just as an observation.

DS and I watched it last year. Great show. We’re desperately trying to find another series of that caliber to watch together. Have you watched Sorkin’s “Newsroom?” And from left field: what about “Better Call Saul?” It’s a prequel to “Breaking Bad,” but a very different tone. Much lighter but still some gripping dramatic stuff. You don’t have to have watched Breaking Bad, except to know from the outset that the main character eventually ends up an unethical lawyer who has to go into witness protection. The acting ensemble is spectacular.
