This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . There are no prizes for this challenge, just a chance to enjoy the works of other Pokey Peas Refugees. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thanks for starting the July thread, nylene. Missing scrapincin, too. Wishing a Happy 4th to you and all the other friendly neighbours to the south of us. How will you be spending the holiday? Hoping everyone, including msliz's and LisaDV's dd's are doing well and keeping cool. Dd just posted that they had 45C humidex yesterday: well over 100F. They were camping at the lake and spent much of the day in the water (even their dog spent a lot of time in the lake), but they are heading home today to get some relief from the heat. Stopping in some big box stores along the way to take advantage of AC. How are you doing in Texas, @elaynef? Cool and cloudy here which is just fine with me. Got a bit of a shower early this morning. I am taking a lazy day. Our oldest ds, ddil and their two youngest kids were here for the Canada Day weekend. It was wall-to-wall go go GO from Friday afternoon to this morning, and I am wiped. Had lots of fun and although I didn't take as many pic's as I had thought I would, I sill will have a bunch to print next time I am in town. Our second son will be here this next weekend with the bandmates from his rock & roll band he put together 15 years ago. They had not played together for over 5 years, but did a gig in Calgary in April and were invited to do a fund raiser out here on the 7th. The guys requested that they come out to the farm (they used to crash here fairly often), so we will have them overnight on Friday. I am hoping to get to the show on the 7th. Just need to get tickets. Planning to print photos when I head in to watch the fair parade next Wednesday (hopefully with justjac). Will be taking a class at the LSS that evening.

Happy Monday! I hope you ladies had a nice weekend. I went to many big box stores to look for home décor stuff. I did see some things I liked and hope to go back tonight a get a few things. Happy Canada Day and 4th of July to you all. My dh will be off so we plan to have a relaxing day with fireworks. The local high school does a big show that you can see all around town. So we go to the grocery store parking lot across from the school, sit in our car and see the show. nylene- Thanks for our new thread. I hope you had fun with your family gathering. I should of been there since I am an unofficial family member! LOL! Hope you were able to get some pictures for scrapping. Yeah, I miss scrapincin too. Next time you talk with Cindy's family can you let them know about my art video dedicated to her? I am glad you enjoyed it. I look forward to making another one. grammadee- You had a good time too. How fun your son got to play with his play again. Does he sing or play an instrument? That heat sounded tough. Is it humid up there? We are heating up out here and it is more of a dry heat. Summer is here! Waving hi to you all and be back soon.

I miss scrapincin too. I'm Happy Canada Day and 4th of July. grammadee , sounds like last weekend was full and fun and another one is coming up. You are always go, go, go. I wish you could bottle that energy and send some to me. kellyr21 , good luck finding what you're looking for. For me, it seems that I have better luck when I'm not looking that when I am. nylene , thanks for the new thread. Today, we went tubing for dd's birthday which was last week. Just over the halfway mark of the trip, she started getting sick. I still have her patch on and hope that she will bounce back quickly. I had the forethought to start a crock pot meal this morning before leaving as I knew I would be too tired upon our return and I'm very thankful that I did. Everyone was starving after getting off the water. Never mind that we ate right before we got on. I'm not crazy about crock pot meat, I find it too dry. Although dh & I ate are meal with happiness. Me because it was finished & I didn't have to cook and because flavor wise it was tasty (dh's reason was the tasty). DS & DD both said the meat was too dry. Yeah, Yeah. Deal with it! Probably not the answer they were looking for. We've decided to celebrate the 4th tomorrow, on the 3rd. As DH will have to get up early on the 5th for work. Oh, and here in my part of Michigan, the heat broke yesterday evening. Today was beautiful. I think they might be calling for a few more really hot days in the next 10 days, but many were in the 80's as well. I hope that 80's stick around and those 90's with heat indexes above 100 just go away. I hope others who are in the heat wave get some reprieve. Waving hi to all.

How are you doing in Texas, elaynef? It's 105° here in West Texas, but it's the famous "dry heat". After visiting Florida last month, I don't complain. I just got rid of the yeast rash that hopped on me the second I landed there! Dgd got her 8x8 album yesterday and I'm working on 12x12 now. Been visiting hobby lobby almost every day and sometimes michaels too! Kellyr21, are we redecorating our family rooms at the same time? I'm looking in the stores, too and on hgtv for what I want. for accessories. My couch won't be here for a month, though, so I'm not buying anything until I get it in the room. I have the decorator from the furniture store helping me and she wants me to paint my paneling. I really was not surprised. I'm not tackling that job, though. I'll have to find someone to do it for me. Lisadv, hope your dd has recovered from the tubing. I love my crock pot, too. I use it at least 3 or 4 days out of the week. I know what you mean about the dry meat, though. You gotta cook it real low with lots of gravy! Grammadee, what fun having a band for the weekend! Wishing everyone happy holidays!

Happy 4th of July, Pokeys! Hope you are having a wonderful day with family and friends. Sorry I can't ship you any energy, LisaDV. I am busy trying to rebuild my own stores after last weekend, in time for this upcoming one. Doing laundry today so the beds can all be remade for the next batch of people to arrive. I enjoy the excitement when it is happening, but I marvel at the pace you keep up 24/7 and when I remember the busy days when our kids were here full time I wonder how I kept up then! Your dgd will love her wedding albums, @elaynef. I don't know what I would do in sustained high temps like you get. We have "dry heat" here too usually when it gets hot, but it is unusual for the thermometer to get above 90F here. And if it gets very humid at all, we are all whining. It is also unusual for the temps to stay above 70F all night. We will often wake up to cool dewy mornings, which I love: perfect for sitting out on the balcony with my coffee. Hope you enjoy the fireworks, kellyr21. We were home putting the little ones to bed before the big light show in town on the 1st. Hope everyone is healthy. Dh has been driving into town to get IV antibiotic twice a day since yesterday. He has diabetes, and the skin on his legs is really flimsy. He had injured his shin last week, and he had been treating it with Polysporin and a bandage, but although the swelling had gone down, the skin around the injury was not healing, so I made him go to the doctor yesterday. So far this month, I have created one page and one card. Most of my scrapping will take place after the 11th when I will get to print my new photos. Happy 4th of July to our American Pokeys! grammadee I love that card. I was in Scrap and Bean Sunday and they have a music collection that made me think of you. kellyr21 your paintings are lovely. The depth you create is amazing. @elaynef weddings are so fun to scrapbook. LisaDV I hope you had a great early 4th. We had a wedding with DH’s family on Saturday that was beautiful. This weekend we’re heading to a reunion on my mom’s side. It’s too bad I’ll miss seeing grammadee ‘s son’s band but summer gets so busy.

grammadee , I think I would like to join in next month with the team challenges if you continue with it. I should be able to write and cut a bit better then. I thought I would use the challenges this month as inspiration to get started scrapping again. I found the list of challenges, but just the title, not the explanation of the challenge. Or are they each listed individually and are on some of the earlier pages? ETA: Duh, I answered my own question when I went further down the thread. Sorry! Sometimes I'm a bit dense! LisaDV , I hope you had a good time tubing. I can identify with your DD. Just standing on a dock watching moving water makes me sick in about 5 minutes. I could never survive a cruise. I even get carsick easily. I can't ride when I am really hungry or just after I eat. Did you have a good early 4th? justjac , I hope you have a great reunion. Ours was lots of fun on Saturday. What other things do you have coming up soon? @elaynef , I don't know how you survive that kind of heat. I hope you have air conditioning. Even a dry heat at that temp. is stifling. You have already finished one album? You must be scrapping day and night! kellyr21 , and @elaynef , I am anxious to see the results of your home decor adventures. I need to do some updates throughout the house. I am hoping to get ideas from you two. woodysbetty , are you participating in the team challenges? I'm sure you have hundreds of wonderful photos to scrap! I actually did a bit of scrapping today. I need to finish a layout from May, but instead started another one. I find I am much slower, but I have had my brace off most of the day and have done OK. Things just got piled in my scraproom while I wasn't scrapping. I can't do a lot of moving of stuff, but I did clear a path and a table! LOL

@elaynef, you are quick to finish your 8x8 already. I'm sure dgd loved it. grammadee, I hope your dh's shin heals quickly. I love your Sunday dream layout. I also hope you are enjoying your son's visit. It's cool that he was in a band. DH was in a band in his late 20s in Chicago. justjac, a wedding and a reunion sounds like perfect opportunities to see lot of family. nylene, I'm so glad your wrist/hand is healing. If you think you'll be up for challenges next month, that's a very good sign. We didn't get to do the 4th celebrations on the 3rd. DS woke and immediately got a migraine. It's only his 3rd one ever, but he throws up with them and was out of it all day. I grilled this evening and then we picnicked and set off some fireworks. We called it quits about the time most firework shows just get started. It was still good. The neighbor boy came down with his younger brother who was visiting. Now we're lining up for showers to get the smoke smell off before bed. Don was first and is already in bed since he has to be up early. The heat wave came back yesterday, although today was worse than yesterday. It's that high humidity that is killer and not normal for this area. I just checked and the normal average for our area right now in July is 77F. We're expected to be in the high 80s and low 90s for at least the next 10 days, with the heat indexes it will be more, usually topping 100. yuck. Now that the birthdays and the 4th of over, I hope to concentrate on some chores. Although on the 9th, DS starts driving lessons. I hope everyone is staying cool.

Everyone in this part of the country has air conditioning. It's like heating for y'all. It's hard for us to understand how people in cooler climates die when there are heat waves...we forget everyone doesn't need it. I had a good book to listen to last week and that always keeps me in my scrapbook room. you are quick to finish your 8x8 already. I'm sure dgd loved it.
of course, she wouldn't tell me if she didn't. I think she thinks I'm going a little overboard, but if you don't scrapbook, it's hard to understand what an addiction it can become!
I am anxious to see the results of your home decor adventures. I don't know what I would do in sustained high temps like you get. My dd tell me my decorating style is "granny" what's the weather like where you live?
Ordered these from our weekend at Canyon, Texas and Pala Dura State Park

Hello Pokeys. Happy Weekend! We have had a busy time of it. Ds arrived for supper on Thursday. Friday afternoon his band mates arrived, and we hosted supper for them and dh's sister's family out on our deck. Later in the evening our barrel racing ddil arrived with a bunch of her rodeo friends. They bunked out in their rodeo trailers for the night, but stayed up to visit first, and made use of our showers and bathroom facilities. The girls were gone early this morning heading to the next rodeo, but they should be back here shortly to spend the afternoon and the night here. The guys were gone by noon to set up for their show. Meanwhile, we have a bd party for an elderly neighbour to attend this afternoon and we hope to get to ds's show this evening. Dh was disappointed yesterday when he saw the doctor. He had thought he could have his port removed and be done with the IV antibiotics, but the dr wants to keep it up over the weekend. Dh said the sore looked "a lot better" when the dressing came off, but they want to make sure the infection is completely under control. Hope you are having a wonderful family reunion, justjac . Did you get some cooler weather, LisaDV ? Dd was saying yesterday that their temps were a little more bearable. They were heading back out to their campsite at the lake. It was really hot for us here yesterday (about 90F) but a passing thunder shower (we didn't get any rain but did get the benefit of the cooling breeze) dropped that temp by about 20F in an hour about 8:30 last night. Today it is much cooler, and much more enjoyable for me. Awesome state park photos, @elaynef. Love all the contrasts. "Granny style", eh? There is a place for that, too! I don't like change much, so we have not redone anything in the house for years. I think our style is Shabby without the Chic. Glad you had an enjoyable family gathering, nylene , and Whooo Hoooo on the scrapping beginning to happen! Looking forward to your playing along with a team next month! But you are certainly welcome to knock off a challenge or two or three before then even if you are not on a team. Again, wishing everyone a wonderful weekend...

Happy Tuesday, Pokey's! @elaynef , Beautiful photos. It's hard for us to understand how people in cooler climates die when there are heat waves...we forget everyone doesn't need it That's like the northerners wondering why everything comes to a stand still when the southern states get a bit of snow or if it's more, I've had to say to a couple of people, but they don't have snow plows, salt or sand. Give it a day or two, it'll melt. grammadee , I'm glad your dh's sore looks better. It's good that the doctors want to be extra sure to have the infection gone, even if it is an inconvenience for your dh. justjac, I hope you had a great reunion and are doing something fun this week as well. DS started drivers education yesterday. Don took him to his first class. He was really excited. Logan, not so much. He really isn't looking forward to driving. He says he lives in the 21st century. He could be behind the wheel or in the passenger seat playing on his phone. He'll take the phone. FacePalmW I took him today, and I must say, I felt proud and sad as he walked away. I wish I could keep him little longer. Of course, his 6 foot height is already towering over me, so I guess I'll just pull up my big girl panties and deal. He goes Monday - Thursday for the next 3 weeks, then will also have additional driving time with the teacher to schedule. It also means I'm losing a half day 4 days a week for the next 3 weeks. Oh, I was starting to make mayonnaise the other day. I went to plug in my food processor and sparks hit the outlet and fried it completely. Luckily just the outlet. But the electric cord on the processor had a little break in it near the processor body and it shot sparks out and left a trail on the counter and my shirt. There's still just a teeny tiny dot on my stomach where it went into me. I should say that due to the fact it had fried the outlet, it wasn't scary at all and I thought it was kind of cool to see. Too bad no kids were around - educational opportunity missed. It was my excitement for the week, I live a boring life. We've been fairly chill here in the last few days. A little work and some sitting out under the big tree, letting the chickens roam free. Currently, I'm suppose to be upstairs tackling dd's bedroom. She's a living tornado, and she's barely even in that room. I don't know how she does it. I think I'll give it 15 minutes and go to the post office first. And keep trying to muster the energy for such a daunting task.

Happy Tuesday! I hope you all are well today. We are getting through this heat wave and evening shopping has been a good medicine. I am in full redecorating mode. We have a lot of big box stores here so I have been enjoying going back and forth to them until I found items and was looking for. I love Home Goods, Ross and Burlington. They have a nice variety of home items at a lower cost. I decided to use a lot of off white since the walls of our living room are that shade. I wanted to use that color and the dark brown furniture and then add pops of coral, golds and blue. Last night I went back to Home Goods and got this throw blanket in coral I had been eyeing. Because it has a noticeable snag they reduced the price for me. I wanted to get these two lamps but one of the was missing the knob thing you use to turn the lamp on and off. So I'll wait to find some other ones. So everything is a bit messy right now but I hope to get it all arranged by the weekend. Will keep ya posted. Our 4th of July was relaxing and fun but no firework show this year. I was bummed but we had such a great day I didn't miss it too much. nylene- I am so glad your wrist is better. Sending you warm wishing for continued good health. Mine is still a little sore so I am trying to let it rest but it's hard! LOL! I got decorating to do. LOL! grammadee- Oh I hope your dh is better too. How is the garden coming along? LisaDV- Your baby boy is growing up. I know you must be happy and sad as you said but once he is able to drive and do some quick trips for the family, I think you might like that. How are your farm animals doing? @elaynef- How's the décor coming? I giggled when your dd said your style is "granny style." Hey "granny style" is warm and cozy. I have fond memories of my grandmother's décor. In fact I have some of her pieces now and mixing them with a more 2018 style. Looks good and feels good to update the décor from time to time. I have a large wall art piece that is soft metallic gold with cream from my grandmothers. It is a floral design. I want to have it cleaned up and maybe repainted with the original colors. So I am thinking about that. Waving hello to you other girls. Have a nice evening!

Nothing has happened with my decorating, but the painter is coming tomorrow to paint the paneling white. The decorator recommended that to make the room brighter. Painter said 4 days because he is going to try to repair all the cracks in the plaster above the paneling and remove the popcorn ceiling. I'm thinking it could take longer.
Still at least 3 weeks out from getting new furniture shipped. Then the decorator will come back and help me decide on rug, curtains, accessories, etc. She said she likes to do it slowly in increments. I've been trying to restrain myself from looking at anything I might be tempted to buy before the furniture comes.
I took some "before" pictures so I could make a before and after page when it's all finished. I'll have to pack my scrapbooks and knicknacks up before the painter gets here. A friend from church is coming to get the couch and I'll decide which chairs I want to keep for the guest bedrooms later.... maybe the recliners because some of my guests like to sleep in them.
The new couch is not a sleeper so I'm going to have 1 less bed. Grands will not be happy about that, but I have noticed as they get older, they are too busy to visit every time their parents do, so I will probably be not needing so many beds in the future. We can always get out the sleeping bags!
Scrapbooking has been on hold, we had guests over the weekend. 10 kids and 3 mommies. I just got everything put back together so I'm ready to start back to work on my wedding pics !

Happy Friday, Pokeys! LisaDV, that sounds like a scary incident with your food processor. Guess the only way we could scrap excitement like that would be if we wore body cam's. Are you getting a new one? Funny how different people view getting a drivers' licence so differently. My oldest dgs was like his dad: could NOT wait to get his learners' permit and after that if he was in the vehicle he was in the drivers' seat. His brother delayed for almost a year. Now that he has his permit he is enjoying driving and talking about "when I get my truck". Your home looks lovely, @elaynef. Looks homey, like you could walk right in and feel comfortable there. I love all the wood and brick and the blues. What colour will your new furniture be? Looking forward to seeing your decorating results, kellyr21. It sounds like you are enjoying the process. I have no patience, so once I have decided on something, I want to have it finished STAT! Thanks for asking about the garden. We ate new potatoes and fresh cauliflower and lettuce for supper last night. And I picked a handful of fresh raspberries. Mmmmmmm.... I need to get out there to pull weeds, and was waiting until today for the ground to dry up a bit after the inch of rain we got on Tuesday night. But wouldn't you know it, it rained again this morning. I guess the universe wants me to scrapbook instead I see that msliz and woodysbetty have been taking on some of the July challenges. And justjac is going to have to take a vacation after her vacation to scrap all the photos she will have of all her adventures this summer! She managed some time to sit down at the LSS class Wednesday evening, but wow! A wedding, a family reunion, and now a combined family road trip and scrapping adventure starting next week! Hoping your wrist is continuing to heal, nylene. And that you and your dh remain healthy. Dh is still on oral antibiotics. Homecare is doing the dressings on his leg. They are using some kind of silver compound foam that our ddil, the homecare nurse near Calgary, says is really good. He has appointments with the doctor and homecare for Monday morning, so after the dr looks at it, the nurses can do the dressing. They are saying that if all goes well they can leave that dressing on for several days after that and then see how it does. I haven't seen it since they started dressing it July 2nd, but dh says the open area is a lot smaller now, and the swelling has gone down, so fingers crossed. I had a fun day Wednesday, and came home with a whack of photos to scrap from Canada Day weekend and from my phone: summer pics sent to me by dd & ddil's. Finished 3 Canada Day pages yesterday, and a couple of pages about the boys on the farm today. Here are a couple of them. The rest are in the Gallery. Happy Friday! It is a nice day and I hope you all are doing well. My redecorating is coming along. I love the colors and how they are brightening up my space. I found these turquoise blue glass lamps at Home Goods. They are so pretty, light and airy. I never thought of using a colored lamp but it looks great. Also, I got some throw pillows and some vases and containers. I got a mirror for our kitchen/living room area. It is big and I hope my dh can get it up tomorrow. LOL! @elaynef- The pictures of your home now look so cozy and warm. I can see that painting the walls will really brighten up your space. Looking forward to see how it will all turn out. Your decorator sounds great. I wish we could hire one for my in-laws. They are doing some updates and could use a keen eye to help arrange and purchase items. grammadee- Yum, raspberries! That is so great you are enjoying the "fruits of your labor" literally. Any more family trips this Summer? Our vacation is coming up later this month and I am looking forward to it. Glad to see your dh is healing. I hope the dr's appointment goes well too. nylene- You good? I hope you are feeling better. I am stating a new painting for my living room. I am doing a floral design and it will have blues, corals and creams with a little gold. Sounds pretty! I am practicing on paper now and maybe next week I will do it on canvas. Fingers crossed. Waving hello to you all and have a great afternoon/evening!

Hello, my favorite Pokey Peas! This has been a crazy week. Between us, we have seen the G.P, the Dermatolgist, Dentist, Retina specialist, Orthopedist and Nephrologist. We have spent so much time in waiting rooms together. LOL It seems that they just all happened to hit the same week. We also got haircuts too. kellyr21 , and @elaynef , your redecorating sounds like fun. You will love it when you finish. I still have a popcorn ceiling in my bedroom and would love to take it down. We painted paneling in a basement bedroom years ago, but it was very dark and not very pretty. I'm sure you will like it painted lighter, Elaine. grammadee , I am sorry to hear that your DH is not totally healed. I hope the new dressings will help in the healing. That's a long time to have an open wound. I'm glad it's filling in and getting smaller. LisaDV , your electrical experience sounds a bit scary. I'm sorry it fried your equipment (and your shirt). I can't believe you have a child old enough to drive. You must have been married at 12. LOL My wrist is doing very well. I have to wear the brace in the car and when doing heavy things. Otherwise, I am just doing the exercises to get it and the fingers moving again. It feels good to eat and write with my left hand again. I am trying to get ready for Cousin Camp on the 23rd and 24th. Our DGD, Sammie, is little "Miss Organization" and always works up an agenda and a list of games and activities and usually the theme too. She emailed it all to me and then we FaceTimed together the other night. I had to giggle at how organized and excited she is. She is definitely her mother's daughter!! Our theme is Oceans of Fun and she has lots of water games that she sent me on Pinterest. LOL She has been doing this since she was 7. She's 11 this year. It makes Cousin Camp much easier for me when she plans it all and her cousins love her so much they will do anything she suggests. (even the 16 year-olds.) Invitations have been sent to each cousin and t-shirts have been ordered. Now I just have the house to get ready....and find some extra energy somewhere. Our weather has been hot and with big winds. It is making the fire-fighting thoughout Utah very difficult. They aren't close to us, but we can smell them. My husband was a range fire fighter one summer while we were in college and it is hot, miserable and dangerous work. I am sending waves and hugs to justjac , msliz, and woodysbetty . I am enjoying your gallery scrapping. I hope each of you stay cool and have a great weekend.

Happy Saturday! kellyr21 , I can't wait to see what you've done. We need to be rich and then I'd fly you out to help me. My sister laughs at me with my scrapbooking, sewing, and various crafts and my constant complaining over my inability to create a beautiful living space.I just get so overwhelmed. My oldest niece helped me several houses ago, but now she is married with a wee one, so no time to help. I think my problem is I like so many different styles and items. @elaynef , your home is so beautiful now. I love the warmth of the paneling and the brick fireplace. The blues feel comforting to me. How close are the painters to being finished? I can't wait to see your before and after photos too. grammadee , yes, I'll be replacing my food processor - upgrading actually. I can't live without it. I think ds is finally on board with getting his license now. I told him his dad & I were excited for him, as he wouldn't be tied to the house constantly due to his sister's sickness. He could find a DnD group and join them and not be at the mercy of whether dad's home as to if he gets to go. That has changed his mind a bit. I hope your dh continues to heal. Don & kids picked 1/2 a large bowl of wild black raspberries and a few red ones yesterday. I think Don's going to make jam tomorrow. It might only make 1 or 2 small jars. We've eaten lettuce, kale, kohlrabi, zucchini and another squash from the garden. I have some more squash and one cucumber ready to eat, plus I have 1 broccoli that looks ready. The other plants didn't seem to make it. The bugs got all of my potatoes and my eggplants. nylene , I can't believe you have a child old enough to drive. You must have been married at 12. LOL You are too sweet. DH & I have often wondered what our life would have been like if we got married in our 20s instead of our 30s. I'm so glad you're wrist is doing better. Sammie is such a sweetie. I'm glad that she is so organized and helpful. I know that all of your grands must get excited about cousins camp. We made it to the drive-in theater last night for Incredibles 2 and Ant Man and the Wasp. We enjoyed both and were lucky that the rain held off until we were leaving. Of course, today, everything is moving in slow motion, well, when it moves. We got home about 3am and we've been getting up early this week, so it kicked our bottoms. Tomorrow I'll be getting everyone up early again so we can keep on an earlier schedule. Waving hello to msliz, woodysbetty, and justjac.

Just a quick check in today. I saw the Orthopedist who was very pleased with the movement in my hand. I don't have to go back if I keep doing my exercises. I can hold a gallon of milk for a few seconds, long enough to get it from the counter to the fridge, so it is getting stronger. kellyr21, how is your wrist doing? grammadee, how is your husband's wound doing? I spent the morning cleaning bathrooms, scrubbing tiles before all the troops arrive. Hopefully I can get the rest of the house ready and all the games for Cousin Camp ready before Monday. I also want to paint some sample rocks before the kids come to make sure the paint will stick, etc. Have a great week everyone.

Happy Monday! I hope you all are doing well today. We had a super weekend. Friday night was date night at a local burger place. So good. Saturday, we went to a surprise birthday party for my mil. My fil is a pastor so the ladies of the church hosted this special party for her at the church. She had no idea Ron and I as well as my bil and in fam were there. So during the program they brought us in as another surprise and she cried happy tears!!! She was so overwhelmed with all the love and kindness. They had a luncheon and with a beautiful cake. They gave me and my sister-in-law one of the beautiful orchids to take home. Mine is purple and beautiful! So happy we were able to go and now I have to make a card or booklet with some of the pictures. nylene - Horary your wrist is much better! So glad to see you are getting back to normal. Mine is still sore and I hope I can rest it more this week. As you know it is hard when I have decorating and happy stuff to do. Cousin's Camp will be terrific. That dgd of yours is a star organizer. I love that you all still have this times to create memories and have fun. So awesome! LisaDV - LOL! I wish we were rich too and I could send a decorator to help you. I watch You Tube for decorating ideas and also Pinterest. I have a small apartment and it can still get overwhelming trying to decided what to do. Maybe pick 3 or 4 colors you love. I picked cream, brown, blue and coral. Our walls are old and turned off white so I am working with it. LOL! Then my tv & book case are dark brown so added that as a colors as well. My fun colors that I can change are coral and blue but They are accessories and easily changed. Then start with one small item you love like a new chair, lamp, art or décor piece. Then build around it. I found a picture of a living room I love and used it as my inspiration. It's like a road map and is helping me a lot. Your garden is producing a lot of good food. That is good. Of course I always have to ask about your farm animal babies. How are they? Waving hello to other gals woodysbetty , msliz , grammadee , justjac & @elaynef

Hello from Miles City, Montana, Pokeys! My family reunion was great. It was so good to see everyone. Then I was home for a week and now I’m on a road trip. I left home Tuesday and drove for 5.5 hours to my sister’s. Then today I drove for another 6 hours to get to my awesome bed and breakfast. Tomorrow I am driving to Denver and having supper with a friend. Then Friday-Sunday I’m crafting with the ladies from Scrap Happy. My mom, sister, and aunt are flying out to join me and Monday we’re driving another 4 hours to see my uncle and aunt. Then we’re all driving home. Whew that sounds like a lot when it’s all written out, but I’m taking my time. grammadee your pages look great. I hope DH gets all healed up. nylene it’s so good to hear that your wrist is doing well. Take it easy with cousin camp (if that is possible.) kellyr21 your decorating sounds fun. Our place is probably due for an update. @elaynef thanks for sharing your before pics. LisaDV DH and I talk about what life might have been like if we met earlier, too. I will try to check in more often and let you know how Jac’s awesome summer road trip is going.

Happy mid week, Pokeys! Sounds like everyone is having a busy summer. Drive safe, justjac ! And have an awesome road trip! I know you will take lots of photos. Can't wait to see them. Have fun decorating, @elaynef and kellyr21 . I am happy for you, but glad I don't have to live with the upheaval myself. Sounds like a busy summer for you guys, LisaDV, even if you describe it as relaxed. I love hearing about all your family activities. Glad your ds has decided to go along with driver training. You DO realize that after he gets his licence that there will need to be some vehicle sharing, right? I am really jealous of your Cousin Camp, nylene . Such wonderful memories you are making with your grandkids. So cool that one of them is so enthusiastic about doing all the planning. Can't wait to see the photos! And I am jealous of you, woodysbetty , spending the summer at the marina. Must be a wonderful place to meet up with friends and enjoy the summer. How are you doing with your dd home this summer, msliz ? I see you are scrapping quite a few pages this month, so you must have your scrap room! Our garden is just starting to produce. We are eating new potatoes and green onions, lettuce, cauliflower, radishes, and a few other veggies. Made a stir fry yesterday that was soooo yummy! And the raspberries are producing enough for fresh eating for ourselves, dh's sister, and her ds & ddil. Love having them with cream or ice cream every evening. The flurry of preserving is looming: should have peas by the end of next week. Dh has another round of antibiotics, but the home care nurse says the wound is much better, and healing nicely. The swelling and discolouration is reduced, and the bandage is a lot smaller. He is being really careful to elevate it every day, something I have been telling him to do, but he didn't until the nurse gave him a talking to. He sees the nurse Thursday morning, and the doctor on Monday. Okay, off to bed. Hoping to get a couple more pages done in the morning.

grammadee, how did the appt with the nurse go for your DH? I'm glad he is "remembering" to elevate it and glad that it is getting smaller. I envy you the wonderful fresh produce you are enjoying. I read your post about needing a badge for Teams. Made my heart hurt that we are missing Cindy so much, and for so many reasons!! Angie and family will arrive sometime tonight and then the fun begins. We have a family BBQ at oldest DD's home after Church on Sunday, Cousin Camp starts early Monday thru Tuesday. I am still trying to get ready, but kids don't care if I don't get everything done! They just enjoy being together. I am trying to keep up with the layouts in the gallery, but you Team Members (you know who you are!) are just keeping it hopping. I have started 2 pages, but I just don't have time or room to finish them yet. My scraproom now looks like Cousin Camp...rocks, paint, squirt guns, buckets, bubbles, treats, etc. Have a great weekend everyone.

How are you doing with your dd home this summer, msliz ? I see you are scrapping quite a few pages this month, so you must have your scrap room! Nope, I lost it again to DD15 and her paints. I've been busy helping DH with his projects to play anyway, and tomorrow we'll be heading out to niece's wedding. DD15 is so excited to be helping me with my hair and make up. I never get dressed up, so this is something big for her, hahaha. I'm hoping to get a nice photo with DH. Glad to know that your DH is doing better, grammadee, and that your wrist is better nylene. How is Steve doing these days with his vision? @elaynef, I can't wait to see your "after" photos. LisaDV, will he let you take a photo of him in the driver's seat for the scrapbook? kellyr21, What a lovely surprise for MIL. My mom and sister will be the surprise guests at their older sister's 95th birthday tomorrow. Have a great weekend everyone!

Happy Sunday! woodysbetty , so glad you checked in. Hope you can relax soon. nylene , I'm so happy that your wrist is healing well. Keep up those exercises! Now that it's family time, you might want to slack off, but don't! I'm sure you're in the midst of having fun with everyone. Can't wait to hear how cousin camp went later this week. I'd love to see photos of their painted rocks if you are inclined to share. kellyr21 , that is so sweet of the church to host a birthday party for your mil. It shows that she is a very special woman. I'm glad you got to go and can't wait to see your album. My current decor idea is to go neutral with large pieces and have extras that change out by season - so the throw pillows, couch coverings, and a few decor pieces would get changed out by season. But I haven't picked up all of the decor pieces or made the throw pillow coverings. Seems other things take precedent. We're talking about taking a loan to redo the downstairs. Although we realized most people have large mortgages these days, we just don't know if we want to do that. But it'll be years before we can get the downstairs complete if we don't. ugh. Chickens are all good. The turkeys are a bit bully-ish. They aren't mean, but they push the others out of the way for food. The ladies (as we call the chickens) love being able to free range when we let them and they chase down their prey. The turkeys come gobble at us, like feed me something. They like our beagle a lot for some reason, maybe coloring. They follow him around. justjac , that sounds like an amazing road trip. I'm sure you are having a blast. I can't wait to hear about your adventures. grammadee , You DO realize that after he gets his licence that there will need to be some vehicle sharing, right? I just bought a used Ford Escape from my nephew when he upgraded, so we have 3 vehicles. I'm so glad dh's sore is healing. I'd say "geez, men, never listen to good sense." and start my diatribe, but at least he's elevating now, so I'll leave it alone. msliz , Where you rearranging space in your dd's bedroom for your crafting or switching it to another room? Maybe that was someone else.... Enjoy the wedding. I'm not one to get dressed up either. However, it is kind of nice once in a while. I hope you get a great photo of you and your dh. As for my ds, he'll let me take a photo in my car after he gets his driving with parent permit, but that's it. I took some as he was pulling into the parking lot the other day. I also took one of him walking away to go to the classroom portion. I received my food processor upgrade Friday. It's a Breville Sous Chef Processor. I admit I had buyers remorse after spending so much money on it. Then I used it last night. In my old processor, I would cube up a block of parmesan cheese and process for like 3-5 minutes and still the parmesan would not look grated, but chunky. Yesterday, I pulsed several times, let it run for 30 seconds, pulse several more, let it run another 30 seconds, and then checked. PERFECT. I also made basil pesto. In the old processor, after 2 minutes, there would still be chunks of basil and pine nuts. I'd scrape the sides and redo. Yesterday..I had already chopped the basil previously, but still only 40 seconds. I opened up to scrape down the bowl and there was 1 little piece of basil that made it's way up the bowl and got stuck there. Otherwise, perfection. Buyers remorse is gone. I'll be using this thing all the time. Momma's new favorite helper. I also finally started dd's room. It seems I've only gotten a couple of hours. An couple of hours one day and an a couple of hours yesterday. I'm just cleaning the furniture and floor as I go and making piles of 'crap'. All her books in one, all her crafting in another, all her various play things in another. Then the real work of sorting and organizing all her things will come into play. So I guess I should get off of here and see about getting something accomplished today. I hope everyone has a great week.

woodysbetty- been checking out some of your awesome layouts...love them
nylene- looking forward to seeing some pics of cousin camp! just found out I may have some of my dgs for a few days in October. Hope to take them on a short trip to a state park in the hill country of Texas. We usually have beautiful weather then.
grammadee-reading about your garden makes me very green! Hope your dh is continuing to heal. My friend is having problems with her legs, too, because of edema. She doesn't live near me, but it sounds pretty miserable. lisadv-love your description of cleaning dd room. I remember what a huge job it can be. kellyr21 good advice on the decorating! Loved hearing about the party...so sweet.
misliz Hope you show us a pic of you and dh at the wedding. Would you believe we didn't get a picture of us together at our dgd wedding. I was having too much fun to remember, I guess.
justjac hope you are still enjoying your trip and get home safely. It sounds awesome
Working on wedding pics, still. Got the 12x12 finished but haven't mailed it yet. Working on cousins and brothers albums now. This is a pic I did yesterday of youngest dgs. He fell asleep waiting for the wedding on the couch. I found a scripture to put for journaling on the page...Matthew 25:5 When the bridegroom didn’t come when they expected, they grew drowsy and fell asleep.
Here is the latest view of my room. I think it is going to be like this for a while. The work on the cracks begins this evening. I don't know why but the crack guy is going to do it after his day job. the sanding is done, and painting supposed to start soon.
Now dh is calling the insurance co. to see if he can get the roof fixed which he thinks is causing the cracks. sigh! I know it probably needs to happen, though.
Scrap on dear Pokeys! Edited with update: it turns out our roof was not constructed correctly and we have to have it supported..very expensive project but has to be done or it will collapse eventually. Won't be done until fall because of the heat. Apparently they practically have to take it off. So everything has come to a halt. We cleaned up and are waiting for furniture now. In the fall will begin this new enormous project. I'm thinking it's really a good thing we wanted a new couch, or we may never known about this big problem. Oh, insurance will not pay!

Happy Wednesday! Sending you all warm waves hello. I am still in the cleaning and decorating of our living room. I am almost finish and it looks so much better now. I took some pictures of Ron and I to enlarge and put on the wall. But later I noticed there was a yucky, drippy Birds of Paradise plant in the background. And enlarged... that wouldn't look good. LOL! So, I hope to have "take two" this weekend. In our living room. there is an old wall heater that we barely use. I am trying to think of some ideas to cover it up. It's an eye sore and messing up my décor. So, I am thinking. I will post a few pictures when I am done.
Thanks for the nice comments about my mil's party. She so deserved it and glad the church gave her such a great time. We hope to see her on the weekend and celebrate her day again with lunch. OMG, I just remember I gotta make her card/album. Better get going.
I am painting again too. I recently finished a new floral one for our living room with my new colors. It was supposed to be a practice picture but it turned out so nice, I framed it and put it up on the wall. I am working on another one now to add to my collection.
nylene - How was cousin's camp? I know you all had a great time. So fun! Any special crafts you all did this time?
msliz - How was the wedding? Did you enjoy getting all "dolled up?" I just love weddings and all that jazz.
grammadee - I gotta head over to the gallery to see your new creations. Your garden is doing great. What a harvest you have.
LisaDV - You have got some good decorating ideas. I challenged myself to try to make the best out of the things I can't change like the wall color, the blinds and the dark furniture we have. I am so proud of how my creativity has surprised me with some nice solutions. For example, my tv amoure is a dark colored wood. So, I took the doors off that we never close and put white sheer curtain in there place. It really helped to lighten all that dark. Then, I added a tall metallic gold vase with orchids. Still working on it but is better already. I hope you can do what makes you happy in your decorating too. I am like you, just adding accessories until I can afford to get new furniture and eventually a new place.
@elaynef - A NEW ROOF?!!! Oh my! I am glad they found this out before a bigger problem but that is still stressful to hear. Hang in there! But at least you have new furniture to look forward too. :)Glad too that all your decorating plans discovered this potential disaster. Thank God! Whew! That scripture you used for your dgs's sleeping picture is just clever and funny. LOL!
justjac - Yeah, you were in the states! How fun you got to travel to all those places. Hope you had a great time and took pictures for scrapping. (of course you did cause that's what we do!)
