I purchased a sleep number bed. The sales consultant told me it would fit any platform type bed frame as long as it is open in the center so the "box spring" can fit there. He just mentioned that Ikea beds are a bit different in measurement & some customers found their sleep number's don't fit. So....I'm looking for a king size bed frame. Do you own a sleep number & do you have a different bed frame not sold by sleep number? I've been scouring Wayfair trying to find something. I did find new night stands . I would like some real world experience with this before I purchase a bed frame that may or may not fit.

We have a platform bed frame and the mattress fits just fine. Our bed is from Costco and has drawers at the foot of the bed. Before we bought our Sleep Number, we had a regular mattress with no box spring.

We just got rid of our sleep number bed (had it for about 15 years). But, when we used the bedframe we already had, the bed was crazy high. My husband didn’t want to look around, so we put the bed on the floor. That’s where it stood for the whole 15 years. So I’m not much help, other than recommending you look for something that sits lower to the ground.

My Mom has her's on the bed frame she's had since she was a teenager. No issues for her. In fact she just purchased her second Sleep Number (the first lasted at least 15 years).

We’ve got two of them, one at home and one at the cabin.
Originally we had our bed at home on a plain regular metal frame with the plastic SN platforms under the mattress. Then we decided we needed more storage in our bedroom so we bought a bedroom set that had a bed frame with drawers underneath and a flat wooden platform on top. The mattress fits fine, but it is much higher than our old bed frame was due to the underbed storage. I would prefer to not use the plastic things under the mattress because I’m short, but DH is tall and he likes the taller bed.
We took the metal frame to the cabin and had been using it there with a regular mattress. So when we ordered our SN bed for the cabin, DH looked on Craigslist and found a really nice solid oak bed frame that we liked and the price was right. It fits just fine and even with the box supports it isn’t as high as our bed at home because it sits lower to the ground (no storage underneath though). This is a traditional frame with the wooden slats going across the middle that the plastic box platforms sit on.
We also have a queen sized SN bed in our guest room at home, and also bought a solid wood bedroom set from someone on Craigslist. Again, no issues at all with the mattress fitting the frame. I think you would only have trouble if the frame you’re looking at using isn’t a standard U.S. size (as in, narrower or longer than a typical bed).

My husband built the Anna White Pottery Barn platform bed. The design was perfect for the SN because there is an open space for the air pump to sit on the floor.

My sleep number is on the adjustable bed frame from sleep number. DS has his sleep number on an Ikea bed with drawers underneath.
