I apologize if the link doesn't work. Been looking at this house- second showing today and planning on getting inspection.. Sellers are motivated to move and may drop price. I am not in love with the color scheme but that's changeable.
We love the school district and are close to family.
Haven't moved in 18 years and this would be a major decision. The family is split.
I currently have a nicer basement (they don't show the basement, it's carpeted but not finished) and living room, but this house is bigger otherwise.

If it’s the 1.7+ Million one I say go for it! Your link shows quite a few houses so I couldn’t tell which one your referring to but I enjoyed browsing.

You need to select that whole first para and drop into your search bar.
If you like the house, paint shouldn’t even be a consideration. Paint is changeable, floorplan isn't (or at least isn’t cheap).

I just saw your new post. I think it’s a great house. I’m in NYC so to see a fine house for that price never ceases to amaze me. I wouldn’t worry about the colors, that is fairly easy to change.

I like it. The inside is a bit dated but that’s easy to fix with paint and stain. I really like the master bathroom!

I think it is nice but there are a lot of weird angles that I think would annoy me when I went to put furniture places. Might be the pictures though. Not a fan of the toilet placement and one sink in the master bath but there is enough room to work for a renovation down the road.
It can be really nice with some updating and changes but I wouldn't pay top dollar for it (not knowing what that price is like in your area).

My only thought is aside from it looking like a cozy and pleasant home, some of the finishes appear dated. Clean but dated such as the countertops and the bathroom tiles. Are you committing yourself to an update for resale?

I do think some changes could be made to fix some of that. Overall, I think it looks like a great house and just needs a little updating. I would have to repaint but the rest could wait until I lived in it a while and decided how it would work for me and my needs. SaveSave

The house has great curb appeal and appears to have a lot of natural light, which is really important to me.
The kitchen layout might be a little awkward. It's hard to tell from the pictures but it looks like you might not be able to stand at the sink when the dishwasher door is open. It would drive me nuts if I couldn't stand at the kitchen sink, rinse the dishes and then put them right in the dishwasher.
I would want to paint the walls and the trim and I would want to get it done professionally, which would be really expensive. I would have to factor the price of painting in the cost of the house.
It looks like the bedrooms are a nice size. I would want to add some baseboards and crown molding though.
It sounds like the house is in a good area. I hope it works out for you! If so, post pictures after you move in!

I'll be the lone dissenter and say that I don't love it. BUT, I do admit that I really, really prefer older homes, so that's probably a good chunk of my issue with it. But beyond that, I specifically didn't really like the angled walls and the layout of the kitchen. I hope that whatever your family decides makes all of you very happy. If this house makes you happy, then it's the perfect house for you.

It is a nice looking house. My comments are super picky, but I don't love: - you have to go through the living room or dining room to get to the kitchen
- the eating bar in the living room (mostly because the stools are on carpet)
- only one sink in the master and placement of the toilet made me LOL (mostly because almost all houses here with that sized bathroom would have a toilet closet)
The second two are easily fixed with a renovation, but the first one is not.

It is so difficult to compare housing values between different areas. Location counts for a lot, and if this area is what you want, and you can live with the layout, etc, then it is your choice.
I agree that it is very dated looking in terms of finishes. The dishwasher/sink location is annoying. I am sure there is no wood under the carpet inlay in dining room, and the wood portion looks too narrow for a walkway. The master bath is poorly designed. Lots of angles, and a lot of oak. Personally I choke on oak, but if you like the wood on closet doors, floor trim and window trim, bookcases.... I love the windows, lots of light, but also no trees to shade the patio or deflect the heat of the sun.
I do like the transom window over the door to the one bedroom/office/den.
I assume you ask because you want honest opinions, and these are all given in the vein of if you like it, go for it.
I sold real estate for ten years, and I always pointed out all these details. Sometimes the clients walk in and look at the whole picture without thinking/looking at the mechanics.
I would not offer full price although it has dropped $15,000 already. On market for 60 days, maybe $370,000.

I think I like it. The layout of the first floor looks a bit odd to me. I don’t know if it’s all the angles or if I’m just really tired. But I would def want a walkthrough before making an offer.

I really don't like the kitchen/dining/living room layout situation. Really strange angles. Really odd flooring transition, with breakfast bar stools sitting on carpet.
I don't love all the strange angled walls (like the toilet being on that little angled wall in the master bath, the whirlpool tub looks jammed into that corner.
Overall, a little dated, but nothing some paint can't fix up.
It's not my favorite floorplan, but it's a decent house. I know nothing about price for the area, so I can't speak to that.

I thought the island in the kitchen would drive me crazy.. too crowded and splits up the working triangle. dated in its finishes.. but that could be changed.

While large, nothing about the house jumps out at me. It's a decent price but pretty generic. For me to be happy with it cosmetically it would take a lot of money and effort. If you love it and it would work out well in terms of location for you I say go for it.

I like the looks of the house on the outside but don't care for it inside. Like others have mentioned all the oak looks dated and the color is too orange. (Or is it just my monitor?) I also don't care for the kitchen layout. And, in my opinion, the master bath is poorly designed. It looks like they were cutting corners by only putting in one sink and the toilet placement is not good. The lack of landscaping and any mature trees is also unappealing to me. The size, number of bedrooms, and price is good especially comparing it to my area of the country.

I like the side load garage. It has curb appeal and a nice backyard.
The inside, as others have said, is dated.
The dealbreaker for me is the kitchen sitting between the great room and the dining room.

I see the current owners paid $313,900 in 2003. They originally were asking $424,900 and have come down to $385,000. That is still quite a jump from what they originally paid. What kind of upgrades/improvements did they make to bring the value up that high? The basement is carpeted but not finished, so that couldn't have cost that much. Is the roof newer, maybe? It is a nice house in many ways, and some of the not-so-appealing things could be renovated in the future. I actually live in the area and know the market around here is nuts right now but I would just hate to see you overpay. Good luck!

I think the house is really pretty. It looks bright, clean and well maintained, with some room for you to do some updates if it’s in your budget. I’m not one to need a white house to be happy. I like the built ins and don’t think it’s weird at all to walk though the family spaces to get to the kitchen. Unless the family’s main access to the house is through the front door (and over carpet), I wouldn’t care. Is there a mud room? That would be a must for me.
I think the area by the counter seating in the kitchen is roomy enough. I agree that I’d rather have tile under the seats, but it’s not a big enough deal to not buy the house.
Yes, the dishwasher placement is weird, but I think you would just load the dishwasher from the front, rather than the side. After a year or so, you probably wouldn’t even notice it. If I were remodeling, I’d probably put my money on the kitchen first, as I’d rather have a big island than the high counter for bar seating and the little island. You would have to redo the floor, but a good carpenter could blend the floor so that you’d only have to replace the hardwood in sections in the kitchen (as long as it’s all hardwood).
It wouldn’t be expensive to add a second sink in the master and you could update the counters then. Toilet? Eh, I think it’s just noticeable because it’s in the center or the photo. I’d rather have a water closet, but it’s not a deal breaker.
I agree that that the price probably needs to come down a bit more since it’s been on the market for 2 months and the last price drop was going on 3 weeks ago.
What I would want to know is proximity to work, schools, shopping. How would the flow of everyday life be benefitted/reduced by this location? Also, the house is going on 20 years old. Has the HVAC systems been updated? If not, you are nearing the end of their lives and there are higher efficiency models out there. I’m assuming the same with the roof. Will you need to replace the windows?

It is astonishing to me that you could buy a house that size for that price, so it is hard for me to separate that from my opinion. I don’t love the kitchen, but the rooms are all a good size and I like the windows and the yard is really nice too. I wonder how many of the weird angles are just the photography. There is no way the bedrooms have walls that are at 60 degree angles, right?
The big tub and shower are very nice, I would love those!

It is astonishing to me that you could buy a house that size for that price, so it is hard for me to separate that from my opinion. I know right! I like the house, it gets a lot of sunlight and looks spacious. I would change all the finishes, like get rid of the wood ceiling trim, in fact get rid of all the oak and change the counter tops. The bathtub is a weird angle. Does the master bedroom have a built in closet on the other wall? My comments are super picky, but I don't love: you have to go through the living room or dining room to get to the kitchen I feel I've only seen houses like that? Why would you want to go straight to the kitchen avoiding the other rooms?
