I was going thru a box of old buttons and found a sterling silver tatting shuttle. Is there a market for this? Where can I go to get more info on it? Thanks!

Check out auctionzip.com and look for a local auction house. Many of them have onsite appraisals or offer appraisals on a regular basis.

Type " silver tatting shuttle" in the search on Ebay. That will give you an idea of the market.
I also look at the "sold" items to see if the prices asked are being paid.

HERE is a link to more info than you probably ever wanted about tatting shuttles. I looked on Etsy and there seem to only be a few sterling ones listed. They are in the $150 range. The sold listings on eBay are all over the place which is typical. Maker's mark and detailing drive the price up. Selling it yourself on one of those sites will bring you the best price. If you consign it at an auction house or sell it to a local sterling buyer (like a jewelry store), you'll most likely realize a lower price.

I was wondering how old I had to be to be considered "antique" or "vintage"? (Since I know what a tatting shuttle is, I may qualify as antique.)

I was wondering how old I had to be to be considered "antique" or "vintage"? I'm definitely vintage.

I thought the same thing when I read the thread title. I often talk about how I lived back in the Dark Ages (i.e., before internet, cable TV, DVRs, VCRs, or anything else like that), so I'm definitely "vintage". Although...I do not know what a "tatting shuttle" is. It sounds like something to do with sewing and I hate sewing. Although I did have to take sewing class back in high school in those Dark Ages. I hated it!

I almost got her to teach me because I was really into crocheting and knitting at the time even with tiny crochet cotton but I never did.

Same thing happened with rosemaling.
