I hired a bonded, highly recommended cleaner. He got here 3 hours ago and is still working on two couches. He has three rooms to go. Does carpet cleaning usually take 6 hours? The rooms are 15 x 15 btw

I don’t know about carpet cleaning specifically, but we’re having our grout cleaned tomorrow (about 500 sq ft, plus shower), and it will be an all day ordeal.

I think I would be happy he's being so detailed. I imagine the couches take a long time. But, 6 hours seems excessive. Is it just one guy? When my carpets are cleaned it's too guys. I can't remember how long they take though.
Kiki - how are they cleaning your grout and are they resealing it? We have the tile floors in our bathrooms and entry ways done and it doesn't take all day...might add an hour to our total carpet cleaning time. They aren't re-sealing the grout though.

Holy cow! Are they moving all of the furniture in and out of the rooms?
We had a 4500 sq ft house done last year that we were renting. It was empty, but took about 2 hours, maybe a little less. I will say that I told the company that I wanted it cheap, as I suspected the new owners were tearing up the 25 year old carpet (they did.). There weren’t many stains in it, but the few that were there came out.

No sealing, but it's only 1 guy on his hands and knees. I THINK he said using some kind of acid and a brush. SO much cheaper than the other 2 quotes, so I went with it. We'll see how long it takes, but I see it taking quite a while. |

We have carpets cleaned all the time - both our house and our rentals. If the room is empty, I'd say they average about 500 square feet an hour. So couple hours for a normal sized house where there's a mix of carpet and other flooring. Furniture definitely takes longer. 3 hours for 3 rooms is crazy long. Unless you have some major staining or pet issues. I've never done upholstery so don't know how long that takes.

SoI had high traffic areas only cleaned. Took 7 hours. He didn’t move anything. $300.
